Interpretation of diagnostic codes of malfunctions of control units of air dryers MID185 APM
Volvo.
1. Switch off the ignition, wait at least 10 seconds for the control unit to reset data;
2. Disconnect the power from the batteries to the main switch or remove the terminals;
3. Power on;
4. Ignition ON;
5. Delete fault codes;
6. Start the engine;
7. If the DTC remains active, turn off the ignition, turn off the power from the batteries
for at least 30 seconds before taking further action.
FMI 0 The pressure in the power accumulator is above 10 Bar. Defective air dryer
control unit (installed inside the air dryer) is faulty. Replace air dryer.
FMI 2 The signal value of the air pressure sensor in the accumulator is outside the
allowable limits (the pressure sensor is installed inside the air dryer). Defective air
dryer control unit. Replace air dryer.
FMI 2 The driving speed signal received from the MID144 vehicle control unit is
incorrect or missing. Breakage or partial damage to the SAE J1587 / J1708 data
channel wiring. Damaged or oxidized pins in connectors. Perhaps faulty vehicle
control unit.

control unit MID144 may be faulty.
FMI 0 High voltage between power contact 3 and ground 4 at the air dryer connector.
Possible generator malfunction. Try restarting MID185.

connector. A short to earth on the power supply wires is possible. Try restarting

FMI 14 Internal fault in the air dryer control unit. Try restarting MID185. Perform
reprogramming. If the fault persists, replace the air dryer.
FMI 2, 10, 11, 12 Internal malfunction in the air dryer control unit. Try restarting
MID185. Perform reprogramming. If the fault persists, replace the air dryer.
FMI 2 The sensor signal of the internal temperature of the air dryer control unit is out
of tolerance. Defective air dryer control unit. Replace air dryer.
FMI 10 Block temperature below -48 degrees or above +93 degrees. Extreme weather
conditions or defective temperature sensor. Restart MID185 at an ambient temperature
of 20 degrees. If the code remains active, replace the air cleaner.
FMI 2 The signal received from the engine control unit MID128 is incorrect or
missing. Breakage or partial damage to the data channel wiring. Damaged or oxidized
pins in connectors. The engine control unit may be faulty.
FMI 8 The pressure in the parking brake circuit increases, even with the solenoid
valve activated. Air ingress from trailer circuit or defective air dryer. Try to
completely empty and fill the pneumatic system. Try restarting MID185.
FMI 9 The circuit of the parking brake is not completely filled for a certain period of
time. Leaks in the parking brake or trailer circuit are blocked or partially blocked. Try
to completely empty and fill the pneumatic system. Try restarting MID185.
