There are two tasks for you to complete individually before your next class.

1. Paraphrasing and Summarising

Answer the following questions:
a. What is paraphrasing? Give an example of a sentence/listening text that has
been paraphrased.
b. What is summarising? Give an example of a summary text.
c. What are the differences between paraphrasing and summarising? List down 2-3
differences and provide some examples to show the differences.
d. How does paraphrasing or summarising help you in your listening
comprehension?

2. Giving Justification
Answer the following questions:
a. What are some of words and phrases we can use to justify our points?
b. List downsome appropriate language expressions to use when giving
justifications?
c. Why is it important to use these expressions when giving justifications?
