R epresenting the best of Asia’s landscapes that is full of vibrant colours and
beautiful textures, the Asian region welcomes colours of all intensities into
their homes and buildings. From the fiery shades found within sunsets, the various

hange is inevitable. Being within the paint and colour industry
throughout the years, you notice that when culture changes,
new trends arise, and with this, people change and adapt themselves to
such a new style of life. This is so subtle, yet it is a huge development in
our society; hence, it is granted that lifestyle patterns and taste consistently
evolve too.
With this evolution, colours and palettes will also make a move – here’s
where the inspiration of Trend Beyond Colours come to life, offering a
compilation of major colour trends that will influence living spaces and
marketplaces in 2016/2017. The new colour trends were recently
revealed at the Asia Pacific Chromazone Colour Forecasting workshop, a
collaboration between Nippon Paint and the Colour Marketing Group. In this
event, a series of wonderful Asian colour palettes by Asian Professionals
were presented.
Highlighting nine key trend palettes, this year’s Trend Beyond Colours
flourishes into three themes:
blue tones that make up the seas and oceans, and the mellow earthiness that form
the beautiful untouched countryside’s and forests, colours echo our stunning natural
surroundings – all of which is the foundation of our colourful culture.
Nippon Paint brings together a select group of Asian design professionals from Malaysia,
Indonesia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Philippines, Thailand, Taiwan, China, India and Japan
to present to you the 2016/2017 Asian colour palettes. Transporting you to a world
where colour makes a difference, we will show you a combination of trendy tones that
will inspire and uplift. There will be nine colours highlighting the new palette which
captures and enhances the essence of our colour-inspired lifestyle. Each colour also
comes with special effects to create a touch of magic within your spaces.
Everything you discover in this book can be easily brought into your own living spaces,
so whether it’s a vivid colour or a serene neutral shade, you will be inspired by the
captivating colours.
Inspirations, insights and creative ideas from different
sources serve as the foundation for the three inspired
themes and nine unique colours of Trend Beyond Colours
2016/17. In this video, see how they are created.

“We Are One”, New Eco” and “Wonder-Lust”. Each of these themes is
translated into unique
decorative coatings that offer exquisite special effects to complement 2016 /17’s

of colours and how behaviour is influenced by colour, fashion, retail
performance, lifestyle trends and culture.

Events Our ASIA PACIFIC CHROMAZONE COLOUR
FORECASTING WORKSHOP 2015

O n 18th March 2015, design professionals, colour experts and

enthusiasts from all over the Asia Pacific region came under one
roof at the Nippon Paint Headquarter Office in Japan for the Colour Chromazone
Forecasting Workshop 2015 organized by Nippon Paint in partnership with
Colour Marketing Group (CMG). Astley Ng , Singapore

From Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Hong Kong, India, Thailand,

China, Taiwan and Japan, interior designers, architects and design professionals
shared, discussed and presented their thoughts about the Trend Beyond Colours
for 2016/17.

Through their effort to determine the ‘Truly Asian Colour Palettes by Asian
Professionals’, participants shared relevant colour stories that would be part of Joe Tang, Hong Kong

Nippon Paint’s Trend Beyond Colours 2016/17. The workshop was carried out Ben Cheng, Hong Kong
under the guidance of our four colour enthusiasts from CMG - Jane Stockel,
Special Envoy to the CMG President, Asia Pacific Region; Monika Fecht, Head
Palanivelu, India
of Corporate Design Management of Renolit; Serene Pang, Sales and Marketing
Director of the Duha Group and colour consultant to Nippon Paint Malaysia; and
Norzihan Aziz, Regional Manager of Clariant Singapore Pte. Ltd.

With a warm welcome speech by Ms Gladys Goh, Group General Manager

presentation on the different colour trends observed in North America, Latin
