[ANSWERS]

Ans1. (c)

Ans2. (b)

Ans3. (d)

Ans4. (b)

Ans5. Volume of earth dug out =

Area of the platform

Height of the platform =

Ans6. Clearly radius of the base of the cone = radius of hemisphere = r

Height of cone = Radius of the hemisphere

Volume of cone =

Ans7. For largest right circular cone to be cut, clearly the circle will be inscribed in a face of
the cube and its height will be equal to an edge of the cube.

Radius of the cone

Volume of the cone =

Ans8. We have,

h = Height of the cylindrical pipe = 420 cm

R = External radius =

r = Internal radius =

Volume of the copper used in making the pipe

Ans9. Volume of the plate =

Let ‘a’ be the edge of the cubes

Now surface area of the cube =

Surface area of the plate =

Difference in the surface area of the two solids

Ans10. Let R cm and r cm be external and internal radii of the metallic pipe

We have, h = Length of the pipe = 14 cm

The difference between outside and inside surfaces of a cylindrical metallic pipe=

cm2

cm2

cm2

Volume of pipe =99cm3

cm3

Solving (i) and (ii), we get R = 2.5 cm, r = 2 cm

Hence, outer radius = 2.5 cm

Inner radius = 2 cm

Ans11. C.S.A. of cone

Volume of cone

L.H.S.

Hence proved

Ans12. T.S.A. of toy = C.S.A of hemisphere + C.S.A. of cone

(31-7=24cm)

Ans13. We have volume of solid iron sphere =

External radius of each iron ring

Let internal radius of each ring be r cm

Volume of each ring =

Volume of 8 such rings

Volume of 8 rings = volume of sphere
