Dr. Sidury Christiansen

University of Texas at San Antonio

Dear Dr. Christiansen:

As the cooperating instructor for Mariah Jessen, I would like to report the following:

Mariah has been exemplary in her efforts to become an educational instructor, and in this class of Level
One students, it has been intensive. From the beginning, she has been punctual for all classes. In the
observation phase, she questioned and reasoned my methods and the responses of the students, always
ready to discuss in order to fully understand not only her role, but the extreme detail needed to help
students use the English language.

When she began the teaching phase, I was amazed by the great detail of her lesson plans and her
implementation. The students responded very positively to her lessons from the book and her use of
outside resources, especially the computer-based strategies. Always attentive to student needs, Mariah
also worked one on one with each student as observed. She also graciously graded papers, and gave an
opinion of the tests, whether representative of the curriculum presented or not.

Communication has been a positive factor as well, ensuring the efficiency of a well-run classroom.
Whatever the need, she effortlessly brought about a cohesive sense of unity, the students helped each
other, and she was there to assist. Students interacted and responded as in a Socratic method of
learning.

It has certainly been my pleasure to have Mariah in my class as a budding teaching, and I believe she will
be the best of the best.

Sincerely,

Barbara Lee
