From the Gym-
In the next few days we will be finishing up our unit on soccer and moving on to our nutrition unit, expect your kids to start putting
your meals into groups. Just so you can stay ahead of them the groups we recognize now are proteins, fruits, vegetables, grains and
dairy. Remember most times the food we eat contains more than one groups. We will be combining this unit with our food drive.

The 9th Annual PE CARES food drive will begin November 5th.  The competition will run from then until November 19.  In an
attempt to bring in a wide variety of foods, we are asking each grade level to bring in different food groups.

*Pre-K, K, and 1st - Carbohydrates (pasta, rice, crackers, cereal, etc) and soups.

*2nd/3rd - Fruits and Vegetables

*4th/5th - Proteins and Other (tuna fish, peanut butter, baked beans, etc)

**All: Toiletries (deodorant, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, etc.)

However, all food donations will be accepted, even if they don't fit into your category. The class that brings in the highest number of
items will win a PE CARES t-shirt and a bowling field trip to Hudsonville Lanes!  Thank you for your help and support in this
community service project, and for taking this opportunity to teach our kids compassion and love for others!!

As the weather changes be sure to remind your children to bring a clean pair of gym shoes when they have PE.  Their participation
grade is based on wether or not they have shoes. If buying shoes is a problem for your family please get in contact with me, I have
some shoe scholarships available.

Baby it’s cold outside ………….

Cold weather and snow are coming! Your child is outside in the morning, and two recess periods. Please
remember to send them with proper attire. If your child does not come with boots and snow pants they must
stay on the blacktop the entire recess to stay dry. Also, please label everything! The lost and found bucket
grows considerably over the winter with unclaimed / unlabeled items.
