The electricity consumption per capita has been increasing continuously over the last decade.

India is far behind when compared to the rest of the world. Electricity consumption per capita is
the lowest among BRIC e.g. Brazil, Russia, India and China, nations. The gross electricity
consumption was 1,149 kWh per capita in the year 2017-18. India is the world's third largest
producer and third largest consumer of electricity. Energy sector are rapidly growing to fulfill the
requirement of humans being. Energy sources are utilizing harmful chemical as ingredient to
fulfill need of humans e.g. lead based solar cell. The waste such solar cell industry directly
dumped to open land it contaminated to soil, water, food etc. lead can damage various body
systems e.g. nervous and reproductive systems and the kidneys; cause to high blood pressure,
anemia, learning disabilities, behavioral problems, and mental retardation and harmful in
developing of brains of young children. Fossil fuel technologies are also a core element behind
extreme and permanent environmental degradation and human disease. Fossil fuels are the
source of power generation worldwide, the combustion of fossil fuel generated harmful pollutant
such as SOx, NOx, CO, soot, ash and unburned particles of carbon, result in many environmental
problems e.g. acid rain, smog, hazes etc. The nuclear power industry generates large quantity of
toxic waste, the dumping of such waste contaminated to water quality and adversely effect the
life of flora.
