Computer is an electronic machine that can manipulate data, such as accept, process,
and give the results as information. The results can be seen on the screen or in printed form.
Computer system consists of two parts: hardware, the mechanical part you can see or touch,
and software, the thing we called program.
There are three basic hardware sections: first, the central processing unit (CPU), or
we can call it the brain of the computer, its function is to execute program instructions and
coordinate the activities of all the other units. Second, the main memory which hold the
instructions and data that are being processed by CPU. Last, peripherals, they are the
physical units attached to the computer, such as storage devices and input/output devices.
Storage devices like hard drives provide a permanent storage of both data and
programs. Input devices enable data to go into the computer’s memory. One example is
mouse. Output devices enable us to extract the finished product from the system, take
monitor as example.
There are several ports on the rear panel of the computer where we can plug a wide range
of peripherals. Modern desktop PCs have USB ports and memory card readers on the front
panel.
