Polyisoprene or natural rubber latex is found in plants such as Hevea brasiliensis in the form

of a colloidal suspension. In addition to the polyisoprene (around 30% by weight), the plant-
extract contains water and other constituents (proteins, amino acids and sugars, among
others), which act as natural activators and antioxidants. Although natural rubber latex is
used as a raw material in countless applications, during the collection, storage and
conventional processing require the incorporation of several chemicals including ammonia,
which makes the finished products to be characterized by an intense brown colour and
require additional cleaning processes prior to commercialization; and even then, it is
common for the final products to include traces or significant amounts of N-nitrosamines
and/or ammonium derivatives, which are not desired according to the final application of the
product derived from natural latex.

As a result of our research, which includes multiple laboratory tests and field tests, we have
developed the new product Tornitin (pending patent) as an alternative to the use of current
preservatives in the processing of natural latex. By using Tornitin instead of ammonia, latex
end products do not contain N-nitrosamines or ammonium derivatives. Even more, Tornitin
it is a biodegradable product, less aggressive to the environment and can improve the
organoleptic properties of the final product.

Tornitin also allows the production of colloidal dispersions with natural latex through the
entire spectrum of the acid-base titration curve. That is, Tornitin allows to obtain "liquid
latex" in an acid, neutral or alkaline medium, which is desirable according to the process or
application in which the liquid latex is intended to be used. For the acid medium,
vulcanization is facilitated without including sulphur or accelerators (which are needed in
conventional methods), and instead uses co-agents and biodegradable sources different
from those derived from petroleum, which represents environmental and economic
advantages for a wide range of applications. By generating N-nitrosamine-free products and
not using accelerators in the process, it is expected that the final products will not produce
irritant dermatitis or type IV allergies, which could be common in some products derived from
natural latex through traditional processes.

Through different processes of natural latex and Tornitin, in our laboratories we have
obtained diversity of elastomers (including clusters and films) and / or dispersions, whose
textures (varied and controllable according to the reaction conditions), as well as their final
properties, are similar to those obtained by conventional methods in the rubber industry. In
the products obtained, which can vary in intensity and colour tone, it is possible to avoid the
final purification processes, typical in the conventional rubber industry when the material
acquires a dark brown colour. In addition, in our processes the synthesis stages are
minimized and extreme conditions of temperature or pressure are not required. Moreover,
the generation of waste is minimized, since the by-products (when they occur) correspond
to other substances of interest with potential commercial value. The final applications of the
products obtained from natural latex and Tornitin cover the entire spectrum of rubber
products, including materials for biomedical or bio-sanitary use, and also the study of new
materials, for example, adsorbents or catalytic supports.

In summary, our processes with Tornitin represent an important advance from the
technological, scientific and environmental point of view in relation to the traditional natural
latex processing. For this reason, we are currently focused on protecting and improving the
commercial developments from our investigations. In Colombia, we have submitted a patent
to protect our main developments. In addition, we are currently in the process of formalizing
our own registered trademarks. However, we recognize that the scope of our developments
can have a global impact, for this reason we are contacting you to seek a commercial joint
effort, using our intellectual property and your registered trademark to commercialize and
sell Liquid Latex without ammonia and in acidic medium.

We will be glad to hear about your opinion or interest and to have the opportunity to deliver
more detailed state of the art of our developments.
