CRITICAL REVIEW

In this lesson, I am teaching Form 2 intermediate students. I plan to teach on


Wh- questions as I feel that by teaching them Wh-questions they would be able to use
this in their daily conversation.
In this lesson, I focus my activity on the lower level of the Bloom Taxonomy which
is knowledge and comprehension skill. This is because it is the first time that they are
learning on Wh questions.
Since I am teaching on the topic jobs people do, in my set induction I plan to
mount three types of different jobs. Then based on the picture I will ask them few
question. The reason I carry out such activity in my set induction is that, by asking
question in the set induction could help me relate to my lesson which is Wh-questions.
Besides that, I could also get my attention to the lesson as they will be attracted to the
picture that I mount on the board.
Next in the presentation stage, I introduce my lesson and relate it to my set
induction. The questions that I asked in the set induction will be used as an example to
help student to get an understanding on Wh- questions. To enhance my students
understanding, I will further explain in detail on the definition and the purpose of Wh-
question. I have to make sure that they have a good understanding on Wh-questions
because my student do not have any prior knowledge on Wh- questions as this is the
first time I’m teaching them on Wh-questions. Furthermore, I will also provide few
examples to enhance their understanding on Wh questions so that they would be able to
complete the activities that I have prepared for them in the practice stage.
In the practice stage, I prepared two activities for my students to have a clear
understanding on Wh – question and its usage. In the first activity, my students have to
match the statement with the correct wh- questions. This activity is to help them
understand the usage of Wh-question in sentences. While the second activity, requires
them to choose the correct Wh-question that match the statement. In this activity,
students are required to use the input that they have gain in the presentation stage and
in the first activity to choose the correct wh-questions. This activity is to further develop
their comprehension on the lesson.
Finally, in the closure stage, I will summarize the lesson to make sure that
student have comprehended the lesson properly. Beside that, in this stage I will instill
moral values of appreciating different jobs that people do. I will inform them that each job
is special in their own way and students must learn to appreciate these jobs.
