This week in Reader’s Workshop, first  This week, we continued working on composing and

We kicked off Unit 3 in Fundations this week! First graders  18​:​ eighteen or "ten eight"

are learning about consonant digraphs: wh, ch, sh, th, and  19​:​ nineteen or "ten nine"

ck. These digraphs have two letters, but make one sound.  20​:​ twenty or "two tens"

We “marked up” the digraphs by underlining them in the  First graders practiced modeling numbers as ten and some 
words we wrote. We were digraph detectives! Practice the  more, completing number bonds, drawing pictures, and 
digraph sounds at home with the Fundations helper words:  writing number sentences to represent their work. We noticed 
how number sentences can be written in two ways to show 
two parts that make a whole (i.e. 10+5=15 and 15=10+5). 
 

Oak Tree Field Trip
