 VDC: virtual data center

 A VDC is a dedicated virtual resource pool that provides a user with experience equivalent
to that provided by a physical data center. In a VDC, you can centrally manage the
computing, storage, network, backup and DR, database, and big data resources, just like
managing a physical data center.

 HCNA-involved resources, including computing, storage, and network resources

 Provide services for customers by VDC.
 A VPC provides a secure and isolated network environment for a VDC. The VPC allows you
to customize virtual networks that serve as traditional networks, and it provides advanced
network services (such as elastic IP addresses and routers) to meet service deployment
requirements.

 Isolated environment: The VPC provides a secure and isolated network environment to
meet network isolation requirements of different departments.

 Abundant services: The VPC provides router, elastic IP address, security group, ACL, VPN,
and load balancer services.

 Flexible networking: The VPC supports multiple networking modes, such as direct
networks, routed networks, and internal networks.
 In regard to the supported underlying resources, FusionManager manages physical
resources, Huawei and third-party virtualization software, desktop cloud, cloud storage,
and various cloud services. Physical resources can be computing, storage, and network
devices.

 In regard to functions provided by the upper-layer system, FusionManager provides various

IT as a service (ITaaS) functions for users.

 In regard to the capabilities of FusionManager, it supports connection of virtual and

physical resources, automatic resource management, and resource availability and security
assurance.

In conclusion, FusionManager is positioned to provide simple and agile management
functions for cloud data centers, with its featured automatic cloud service management
and intelligent resource O&M capabilities.
 IF-1: RESTful interface. FusionManager communicates with the upper layer NMS through
the RESTful interface. For example, FusionManager reports alarms and performance
statistics to the NMS. In addition, the upper-layer NMS identifies and authenticates
FusionManager using HTTP or HTTPS.

 IF-2: SNMP, IPMI, SSH, HTTP, HTTPS, TLV, or SMI-S. Computing, storage, and network
devices access FusionManager using SNMP, IPMI, SSH, HTTP, HTTPS, TLV, or SMI-S.

 IF-3: RESTful or SOAP interface. FusionManager uses northbound interfaces to provide

various service management functions, including resource, VM, backup, disk, and network
management.

 IF-4: RESTful interface. Local FusionManager connects to ServiceCenter using the RESTful
interface.
 Role-based Access Control (RBAC): assigns an administrator the rights to perform specified operations to specific roles in different domains and VDCs. The administrator can
manage users, roles, domains, and VDCs to separate operation rights and service data of different users.

 Computing resource virtualization: One server is virtualized into dozens of or even hundreds of separated virtual servers. Physical resources of physical servers can be abstracted
into unlimited virtual logical resources. CPUs, memory modules, disks, I/O modules are dynamically managed as resource pools for improving resource utilization and simplifying
system management. The hardware-assisted virtualization technology is used to improve virtualization efficiency and enhance VM security.

 Network resource virtualization: FusionManager can allocate network resources, such as subnets and VLANs, to VMs using distributed virtual switches (DVSs) to implement
network virtualization.

 Storage resource virtualization: The storage virtualization technology abstracts resources on storage devices into data stores. A data store is a logical container that is similar to a
file system. It hides the features of each storage device and forms a unified model to provide disks for VMs. Storage virtualization helps the system better manage virtual
infrastructure storage resources with improved resource utilization and flexibility as well as increased application uptime. FusionManager supports management of storage resources
on IP storage area network (IP SAN), fiber channel SAN (FC SAN), and network attached storage (NAS) devices. It allocates storage resources to clusters as data stores, thereby
providing storage resources for VMs in the resource clusters.

 Resource cluster management: A resource cluster is a collection of computing, storage, and network resources. Resource clusters are isolated from one another. A hypervisor may
contain multiple resource clusters. In the FusionSphere solution, administrators can create or delete a resource cluster in a hypervisor, such as FusionCompute. On FusionManager,
administrators can query information about resource clusters, monitor resource cluster performance, and manage resource cluster scheduling policies.

 VM management: VM management mainly includes the VM lifecycle management and VM resource management functions, such as creating a VM, migrating a VM, and adding
disk space for a VM.

 Third-party resource integration: FusionManager supports integration and management for physical devices and virtualization software from Huawei or third parties through a
unified management portal.
 Physical resource management: FusionManager can manage physical resources, such as subracks, servers, switches, and storage devices. In the FusionSphere solution, physical
devices must be manually added to FusionManager.

 Load balancing management: FusionManager supports hardware load balancers. Based on customized load balancing policies, FusionManager allows load balancers to evenly
send service requests to associated hosts to balance workload on these hosts, improving service stability and reliability. Load balancers are connected to FusionManager to provide
the LB function.

 Template management: FusionManager allows administrators to manage templates, including VM templates, VM logical templates, software packages, scripts, VM specifications,
and application templates.

 Monitoring management: FusionManager provides performance monitoring, alarm management, task center management and operation log management, monitoring
management function. The monitoring information provides visibility into the running status of the hardware and software in the system and allows administrators to rectify faults
based on the monitoring information in a timely manner.

 Open SDKs and APIs: FusionManager provides software development kits (SDKs) and flexible application programming interfaces (APIs) for users' secondary development.

 Security management: FusionManager provides a robust security system that ensures security of the application layer, system layer, network layer, and management layer.

 Backup and DR: FusionManager works with FusionSphere to provide a comprehensive backup and DR feature, including array- and host-based replication DR and VM backup.

A VDC is the primary unit of virtual resources used by users.

VDC resources are managed by the VDC administrator. The administrator can add or delete
users for a VDC and configure the scope and quota for resources in the VDC.

The EIP service allows the system to bind public IP addresses with VMs or private IP addresses
in a VPC, enabling various resources in the VPC to provide external services using fixed public
IP addresses.
