20th September 2016 was the date for Bina Insan Guru (BIG) in Semester 6. In this
semester, the students of PISMP TESL Semester 6 are required to organise a
benchmarking programme of ‘Guru Cemerlang’ Therefore, our course coordinator had
suggested SK Sultan Ahmad Tajuddin as the benchmarking venue. The benchmarking
program was a success, ran smoothly without much major problems. This BIG has became
a good platform for the teacher in training to get a real exposure and experiences on how to
become a dynamic and all a rounder teacher in the future.

To be honest, I was glad to become a participant of this workshop. Prior to the

programme, I was assigned as the committee for special tasks. Generally, it was not a new
experience for me, but I have gained a lot of new knowledge and got the chance to meet
new people of different antics and perspectives. It is great when I can learn a lot of things
from the lecturers on how to organise the program in appropriate ways. I was prepared for
the possibility that something unexpected might happen and I needed to be quick in making
decision and looking for ideas.

Other than that, I gained some confidence to communicate with people from different
levels and expertise. I was not a confident person, and sometimes, I faced problems to
justify my actions and being indecisive. Now, I feel great because I know what need to be
done and I feel more focused in accomplishing my tasks especially when the tasks require
me to communicate with people. Other than that,

Besides, I was very satisfied and happy to be involved in the program. The
administrators and teachers were giving a lot of new inputs that have became an eye opener
and some inspirations for me to pursue my life as a future teacher. The Headmaster and
Senior Assistants had given a lot of helpful tips to survive as a novice teacher. They also
shared their experience about pedagogical and classroom management skills. The “Guru
Cemerlang”, Miss Kim has given a lot of beneficial information and tips to tackle the pupils of
different background and proficiency level. The session has given me some insight,
inspiration or ideas in conducting my lesson in the classroom. Obviously, I always
anticipated in becoming a good teacher. The Q & A session was a meaningful one. I was
glad because the session has became so productive because most of the participants were

actively giving out questions and the teachers were giving the good answers. After the
session, I felt accomplished and occupied with basic knowledge about the challenges as a
teacher. It somehow had prepared me to encounter with the real challenges as I step into
the profession.

In conclusion, in my opinion the benchmarking had become an eye opener for me

and it enabled me to see the learners in different paradigm and perspectives. I hoped that I
will have another opportunity to participate in similar program.

Bina Insan Guru (BIG) fasa 6 telah dijalankan di Sekolah Kebangsaan Sultan Ahmad
Tajuddin, Jitra. BIG kali ini memfokuskan tentang lawatan penanda aras “Guru Cemerlang”.
SK Sultan Ahmad Tajuddin merupakan salah satu sekolah berprestasi tinngi (SBT)
Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia. Selaku ketua biro tugas-tugas khas saya amat bersyukur
kerana mendapat kerjasama daripada AJK-AJK lain terutama ahli biro saya dalam
menjayakan program-program yang telah dirancang dengan lancar.
Sebelum BIG fasa 6 ini dijalankan, terdapat beberapa aktiviti yang telah
dilaksanakan. Mesyuarat pertama diadakan di bilik kuliah. Dalam mesyuarat pertama ini, ahli
jawatankuasa BIG fasa 6 telah dibentuk. Maka, saya diberi tanggungjawab untuk memikul
tugas sebagai ketua biro tugas-tugas khas. Senarai ahli jawatankuasa untuk biro aktiviti
adalah seperti yang berikut:

Memang tidak dinafikan, biro tugas-tugas khas merupakan salah satu biro yang amat
penting sekali dalam struktur organisasi BIG. Biro tugas-tugas khas haruslah memastikan
segala aktiviti yang dijalankan dengan lancar sepanjang aktiviti BIG ini. Dengan ini, saya dan
ahli biro saya terus melaksanakan tugas kami dengan semangat dan penuh dedikasi. Kami
akan bertindak selaku orang yang akan membantu segala urusan yang serta merta dan
urusan yang melibatkan masalah yang berlaku secara tidak dirancang.
Perbincangan antara ketua-ketua biro telah diadakan. Perjumpaan ini dijalankan oleh
Pengerusi program iaitu Yakeaswari Mahendra Raj untuk mendapat maklumat dengan lebih
jelas mengenai apa yang telah dijalankan oleh setiap biro dan masalah yang dihadapi oleh
setiap biro.
Secara kesimpulannya, saya selaku peserta yang telah diberi peluang untuk
memegang jawatan ketua biro tugas-tugas khas ini berpuas hati dengan segala program
dan aktiviti serta kesungguhan yang diberikan oleh para peserta dalam semua aktiviti yang
telah dijalankan. Ianya juga memberi pengalaman yang bermakna buat saya.
