culture training

Abstract. Student entrepreneurship competences are not enough developed through lectures
only, but also direct training in entrepreneurial activities. Consequently, business unit should
be established in the university. This activity aimed to establish a new business unit on plant
tissue culture (PTC) training and to practice the entrepreneurial competence of students of
Biology Study Program. This activity was useful to improve the quality of graduates. The
methods used were selecting entrepreneurial students, establishing business unit, training,
mentoring, and evaluating. Measurement of student entrepreneurship competence was done by
observation; and data was analyzed descriptively. The selection resulted 12 elected students.
The established business unit was named Sasana Kultura, which provides four types of
consultation and technical training packages related to PTC. The results showed that the
Sasana Kultura has started running by receiving nine consultation/training packages with 84
participants. These results were potential to be improved by expanding the areas and improving
marketing techniques. After being trained and mentored in Sasana Kultura activities, students
generally understood and skilled well in the aspects of entrepreneurial competence, namely
communication, interpersonal relationships, creativity, innovation, and business management.
On the average, student entrepreneurship competences reached sufficient category. Based on
the results it can be concluded that through the business unit Sasana Kultura the student
entrepreneurial competence can be developed.
