How to replace TS1 with TS2

This article discusses: It applies to:

 Important information about replacing TS1 with TS2 EBI R400 onwards
Risks if you do this wrong: Skills prerequisite:
 Upgrade plan failure and frustrated customer Knowledge with EBI and Temaline.

To mitigate the risk:

 Follow the instructions included in this bulletin

Background
The Temaserver 2 (TS2) was introduced with the EBI R400 release.
As the Temaserver 1 (TS1) controller is now phased out, you need to replace the TS1 with TS2 controller. This bulletin
discusses the best approach to replace the existing TS1 with the new TS2 Temaservers.

Preliminary checks
It is important to note that the power consumption of the TS2 is higher than the TS1. You need to ensure that the
power supply previously used for the TS1 is suitable to supply TS2. Refer to the TS2 installation manual for the power
consumption specifications.
Before starting, you need to record the current TS1 parameters.

To show the current TS1 parameters:

1 Connect to the TS1 using telnet.
2 Note down all telnet configured parameters, specifically the results of the following commands:
>>vts info
>>ams schedule
>>cci get_to

TS2 preparation
The TS1 wall mount and the Ethernet and LON connecters are compatible with TS2 and can be reused with TS2.

To prepare to replace the TS1:
1 Disconnect the TS1 from its wall mount.
2 Replace the 12Vcc power connector with the connector supplied in TS2 enclosure.
Note: Verify the polarity of the 12Vcc cable before you connect it to the TS2.
3 Configure the TS2 with same TS1 telnet parameters that you noted from the preliminary checks.

TS1 with shared load

If you have previously used the TS1 in a shared load configuration, then both Temaservers must be replaced. It is
not possible to mix TS1s and TS2s in a shared load configuration.

Note: Before you reset the database, remember to change the NeuronID of the Temaserver in the shared load
configuration.

Replace TS1 Access Control with TS2

This section describes how to replace the TS1 with TS2 in Access Control mode:
1 Open SQL Enterprise Manager or SQL Management Studio
2 Run the following query, where ACRO is the acronym of the TS1 you want to replace:
Attention: Before you execute the reset database of the TS2 check the next section about memory formatting
update AC_CTU_CFG set CTU_TYPE='13' where CTU_KEY='ACRO'
update AC_CTU_CFG set format_id='12' where CTU_KEY='ACRO'
update SY_OBJECT set TYPOLOGY='T2SERVER' where OBJECT='ACRO'
update SY_OBJECT set EBI_POINT_DETAIL='sysDtlTEMATS2' where OBJECT='ACRO'

Replace TS1 Lift with TS2

This section describes how to replace the TS1 with TS2 in Lift mode:
Note: TS2 do not manage the Lift with serial controller, only Lift with I/O is managed, so only TS1 with Lift I/O can be
replaced

1 Open SQL Enterprise Manager or SQL Management Studio.

2 Run the following query, where ACRO is the acronym of the TS1 you want to replace:
Attention: Before you execute the reset database of the TS2 check the next section about memory formatting
update AC_CTU_CFG set CTU_TYPE='14' where CTU_KEY='ACRO'
update AC_CTU_CFG set format_id='12' where CTU_KEY='ACRO'
update SY_OBJECT set TYPOLOGY='T2SERVER' where OBJECT='ACRO'
update SY_OBJECT set EBI_POINT_DETAIL='sysDtlTEMATS2' where OBJECT='ACRO'

Replacing TS1 with standard Memory Formatting

If you have used a standard memory formatting, you can proceed by resetting the TS2 database. The TS2 memory
formatting includes all tables for all memory formatting of the TS1.

Replacing TS1 with custom Memory Formatting

If you have used a custom memory formatting for TS1 then you need to ensure that the same formatting is valid for
the new TS2, otherwise you need to create TS2 custom formatting that is suitable for your site.
Note: You can assign the new formatting to the new TS2 by using the Temaserver configuration display in Station.

TS2 Reset database

To reset the Temaserver database:

1 Restart the Temaline service.
2 Connect the TS2 on the network.
3 Execute the reset database command.

Note: If this is a brand new Temaserver, the reset database will occur as soon you connect the Temaserver on the
Ethernet network
