OUR REPRESENTATIVES: Our representatives and agents have the following profile:
• For “Day by Day” business: Use to be companies with very good contacts in any
big city of its country, having at least one Electronic Engineer and a Chemical
Engineer for sales and at least one “after sales” engineer with technical teaching
knowledge and properly trained at EDIBON.
• For systems and projects : Use to be persons working by his own or integrated in a
strong company. They use to have good POLITICAL CONNECTIONS or
possibilities of getting in touch with the appropriate contact to open “political
doors” and to have direct or indirect “lobby” capacity. EDIBON offers several
financing possibilities.
Note: All units you can see in our WEB: www.edibon.com are part of our manufacturing
range.

COMPLETE DESIGN
EDIBON has a full time Engineers Team, that regularly are designing:
Units:
- All units of our range, more than 2000 ones. (Units and electronics interface).
- All software packages, more than 1600 ones. (Computer controlled software packages,
working with units and complementary software packages).
- Several units components are designed by EDIBON (some pieces, profiles, etc.)
Systems:
Projects:
EDIBON can design “custom made” complete laboratories for any Technical School or
University.
Others:
Several other design possibilities, as custom made units, technical courses, etc.

All the stainless steel plates, as rod materials are cut by LASER, so the drawing has to be very
precise and the components has to have the proper drawing, allowing quick and proper
allocation in the plates or the allocation device.
The LASER CUT SYSTEM has a very good looking and avoid to injure the student hands.

INTUITIVE ALLOCATION
All EDIBON units have the easiest allocation for allowing the students to follow the circuits
easily.
The “diagrams” we supplied have the same components allocation that the real unit.
... so always there is the same “diagram” with some components allocation in the unit, allowing
the student to identify the components and the process “diagram” at any time.

MODULAR DESIGN
EDIBON has designed two main types of units, in general explanation, modular units and
compact units.
1. Modular Units.
In this case you have a base unit and you add other complementary units or/and accessories for
studying some particular unitary process.
• Physics 3D. The robot is the base unit and you can add any application.
• Basic Electronics, Communications and Kits: You need the power supply and you add any
of the many applications available.
• Sensors BS : You have BSPC base unit and you add modules.
• Electricity: You get the frame and you add electricity modules (in this case, we offer a
compact option, too).
• Electrical Machines: You get one of the base units, EME, EME/M or EME/B) and you add
all other accessories.
• PSS12: You get the Mini PSS12 and go up to PSS12 and even you can add several power
plants.
• MECA: You get the main frame and add any of the 6 applications.
• Basis Fluid Mechanics: You get the FME00 or FME00/B and you add any of the about 30
accessories available.
• Heat Exchange : You need the TIUS, as the base unit and add any of the 6 heat exchangers
available. Heat Pump / Air Conditioning / Refrigeration. From any of these options, you
can go to the more complete one THIARB22C.
• Heat Transfer: You need the TXC, as the base unit and add any of the 13 modules.
• UCP (Process Control): You get one of the 3 UCP with electronic control valve or
pneumatic valve or with speed control. If you get one, you can get afterwards any of the
other two. When you have one, two or three control systems, and for anyone you can get
the following control parameters as modular ones. Flow, level, temperature, pressure, pH,
conductivity and turgidity.

www.edibon.com
Nearly all EDIBON units have been designed taking into consideration future expansions.
Sometimes customer considers that the minimum supply (basic unit) is enough for his teaching
purpose and in some other cases, customer has to do it because of budget limitations. But in
any case, with EDIBON designing philosophy customer can spend tomorrow what he is
buying today.
Additionally, all the modular possibilities explained before, as all the modular possibilities or
modules can be considered expansions, so additionally to all these modular possibilities, there
are several expansions.
These general units expansions philosophy follows to general lines, depending if we speak
about basic units or advance computer controlled units.
Future expansions:
a) CAI System.
a1) Instructor Software. (This soft is valid for all 5 basic areas).
a2) CAI Soft. Computer Aided Instruction Soft. (Any unit has its own one and is related
with the experiments that you can do with that unit).
Note: Instruction Soft and CAI Soft, normally customer buys it at the same time but also
can be bought separately. Both soft can work separately or in a local net.
The EDAS/VIS includes the proper software for working as Oscillator, Spectro, Analyser,
Generator, Multimeter, etc. The EDAS/VIS system works with the units, so nothing has to
do with CAI system, as this is complete and own option. The MUAD is similar that
EDAS/VIS but used for power.

Conclusions:
• When a customer buys the minimum and initial hardware supply, afterwards he has a
chance of buying “a”, “b” or “c”. He can buy afterwards, two or three of them.
• The EDIBON recommendation is TO OFFER ALWAYS THE COMPLETE SYSTEM,
included “a”, “b” and “c”.
When EDIBON quotes any Computer Controlled unit, always we include in the price the
minimum supply enough to run properly. This minimum supply includes:
- Unit itself.
- Electronic interface.
- Data Acquisition Board (normally PCI from National Instruments).
- All sensors, cables and interconnecting cables.
- Software package (control + acquisition + management).
- 8 manuals.
- Any additional element for working properly.
Future expansions:
A) PLC expansion.
C) CAL Soft.
We can offer Computer Aided Learning Software for helping the student to make the
curves and calculations. This soft work separately and this unit needs its own one.
Conclusions:

• The EDIBON recommendation is TO OFFER ALWAYS THE COMPLETE SYSTEM,
included “A”, “B” and “C”, in minimum 20 licences.
3. OTHER OPTIONS.
EDIBON has designed a Simulation Soft for any Computer Controlled unit. We can supply
them by two different ways:
- Power Electronics.
- Regulations and Systems.
- Servo Systems.
- Digital Signal Processing.
- Digital – Analogue and Analogue – Digital Conversion.
All 5 packages can be supplied piece by piece. All use the proper electronic formulas for
working as the real unit.
EDIBON is offering Simulation Software starting from the computer controlled units, so ALL
Computer Controlled Units can generate a Simulation Software, so this is an expansion, too.
The units with no computer control, normally with the letter “B” at the end of the reference can
have some expansions too, except the expansions related specially with control.
All Computer Controlled Units can be expanded to Mini Scada – Net or Scada – Net or even to
other systems in some cases, so this is an expansion too.

SUSTAINABLE DESIGN
Any EDIBON unit is divided into, from 4 to 12 different groups, named “CJ”. Maximum 99.
Any group is divided into several subgroups, named “SB”. Maximum 99.
Any subgroup is divided in components or single pieces, named “P”. Maximum 99.
So, any component in any EDIBON unit has a code and it is totally identified during the
“complete life of any EDIBON unit”.
For example: Component 09.11.85, means that this is a component in the “group 09” and inside
this group, we are talking about “subgroup 11”, and in this subgroup, we are talking about
“component 85”.
Additionally.
Any EDIBON unit has its own “serial number” and associated to the serial number, there is the
“issue” related with the unit. We keep all “issues” for ever.
Example: UCP 001468/Issue 7. This is a UCP unit with series Nº 001468 and manufactured
under Issue Nº 7.
Conclusions.
By knowing a damaged component in any unit, we can identify by these six numbers, the
component and proper drawing, so we can recommend the replacement.
This system is used by EDIBON since 2003 and is in continuous improvement process.

EDIBON has designed more than 1600 software packages. All software designed can be
included in the following categories:
24 of Hybrid Soft.
21 of ESN.
14 of Simulation Soft.
1762 TOTAL
Why most of the theoretical manufacturers do not offer the software in any language? Just
because they do not own the software sources. This is a big risk.

This is an ideal system to be used in STRENGTH OF MATERIALS.
MINI-ESN When you are bending or pressing, twisting, strengthening, etc. a probe many things happens in the molecules of the material,
ESN that normally you can not see. It is very interesting to explain to the student how the forces are working in any particular probe.
Using this system you can see how all the forces are moving inside the material. Any piece of material supporting forces in
EDTL different ways can be seen.
The test pieces (probes) simulate small scale industrial elements, but the material composition is the key of the system.

“3D” system uses ONE SENSOR at the end of a robot, that moves in the space (3 axes, so three dimensions). This sensor
SACED gets the results, and in nearly real time is sending the information to the ELECTRONIC INTERFACE that manipulates and
control the signals.
PLC This signals by using a SOFTWARE package, specific for any particular unit, is handled by the computer (PC), so the results
can be seen in the computer screen in THREE DIMENSION, as it is happening in the real world.

MINI-ESN
•Description:
ESN The system uses a computer control system, but the hardware works in accordance with the mathematical model coming into the
hardware (turbine) by using a sophisticated software package.
EDTL This system is very useful when you simulate by software complicate and dangerous processes as a Nuclear Power Plant, so this the
mathematical result getting at the generation plant can be used modelling the turbine that generate the energy. As soon as you generate
SIM the energy to the end point you consume, the whole process is running as a real process using real scale values. Example: using only 220
volts you are working with Kvolts.
FSS The system is a simulator due to use low voltage and low amps., but is working exactly the same as a REAL POWER PLANT, so the
training of the Power Plant workers can be done with efficiency using “real” values and processes.
CAL •This HYBRID system works in a similar way than a REAL POWER PLANT and with SAME VALUES.

5. Warranty: Applications.
www.edibon.com
If we explain clearly and you understand fully this technical note, nobody can confuse you and
you will have a clear idea about the truth related with computer control and SCADA concepts.
Computerised teaching unit means so many things and it is the expression some companies
often use, when they have very LOW TECHNOLOGICAL LEVEL in their equipment range.
So, let me explain you “one by one” what really mean all the computerised systems available in
the market:
The three systems are computerised systems but there are two main things to be clarified and
analysed in details, as:
a) All three are different and have different complexity level.
b) All three has different possibilities and applications.
Starting by simulation as most common and simple one, we can go up into complexity.
2.1) From 1 to 200 d/s (data per second) using the series or parallel computer port.
2.2) From 200 – 100.000 d/s by using a standard and common data acquisition board.
2.3) More than 250.000 d/s by using a PCI from National Instruments data acquisition
board or similar advanced board.

So when somebody is talking about “computerised units” the key question is:
The differences between all 14 systems are very considerable and in most cases nothing have to
do one to another. Frequently, competitors use the word “computerised” because they do not
know much about or they try to confuse due to the lower level in technology they are offering.
What means each of the 14 control systems, what are the applications and who does it use?
Means: Everybody knows that you simulate on the computer real processes but all the
data handled are theoretical.
Application: EDIBON use simulation only in High Tech Electronics.
Who use it?. Many companies in the world do simulation software, but nobody does it
for High Tech Electronics, as it is a very complex matter.
Means: The teacher can control the work done by all the students in his classroom by
seeing what any student is doing also the teacher can send questions to the students,
examine them, etc.
Application: This is an ideal system for BASIC matters to be taught.
Who use it? EDIBON use this system not only for Basic Electronics but additionally
for Basic Electricity, Basic Mechanics and Basic Fluid Mechanics. (We are unique in
some of these areas).
Means: The computer says to the student what to do, how to do it and facilitate
exercises. The system use to have three parts as theory, practices and exercises.
Application: This student software is a very excellent tool for teaching BASIC topic for
example: Basic Electronics, Electricity, Mechanics and Fluid Mechanics. This system
helps very much to the teacher, as he does not need to explain many times and the
students can understand it very easily. With this system there is NO CONEXION
3/5
www.edibon.com
between the Teaching unit and computer. The computer is on the right student side and
the unit on the left hand side.
Who use it? EDIBON use this system not only for Basic Electronics but additionally
for Basic Electricity, Basic Mechanics and Basic Fluid Mechanics. EDIBON use this
system since 10 years ago and the new version is just finalised.
This is simple software that makes calculations and plot the curves. For Basic Fluid
Mechanics it is used by EDIBON and other two companies in the world. EDIBON is
the only company offering this soft for Basic Electronics, Telecommunication and
Electricity.
It is a system that instead the student reads the values from the teaching unit and writes it down
on the paper, the system prints all the data. These system safes some working time and it is
easier to use in stead the pencil. Nothing else. It does not do any control and the data gotten
corresponds to a particular moment of the process. This is a static system. Most of the
information generated during the process is gone, if you do not use a fast system.
2.1) DAS from 1 to 200 d/s, by using the computer series and parallel port or very simple
electronic board.
This is a very slow system and you get only few d/s (date per second) between 1 to 200
d/s, so most of the information is gone and you loose most of the information. This is
not a recommendable system. Because if you got few points the curve, you get some
times in wrong one
This system uses a standard and common data acquisition board. There are many in the
market and most of them have not very high prices.
This system is used by few of EDIBON competitors in the few applications they use
data acquisition but they use it only in few items, maximum 10% of their range.
This is one of the Data Acquisition Systems fastest, so the amount of the data is
enough for analysing most of the process and combining it with the computer control.
EDIBON use a PCI (DAS) from National Instruments, considered as the more common
and one of the best and faster boards available in the market. EDIBON uses this DAS
250.000 d/s for two applications:
4/5
www.edibon.com
a) For Basic Systems, doing only data acquisition as, Basic Electronics and Basic
Telecommunications. In case of Telecommunications 250.000 d/s are not enough so we
offer a more advanced boars getting 1.225.000 d/s
b) Combining with the interfaces of all units we use the computer control, as the data has to be
taken always. EDIBON uses it in all computer-controlled units, as standard for getting the
data and prints.
We do not know any Teaching Equipment Manufacturer use this high level DAS, as it
is expensive and it needs a “considerable knowledge” to use it.
Most of universities and technical schools in the world, use the PCI DAS getting it
from National Instruments Company.
Computer control with close control system is the one you can find in millions
applications in the industry. With this system you control but you cannot analyse the
behaviour and the possibilities. If you have a system like this, you can see what happens
in a PID control process at the beginning and the end results but you are missing all the
details that are happening during the process and the influences of all constants and
many concepts. This application can be done by using an industrial controller. You
push some keys at the controller and the process is done but you cannot see what is
happening during the process and this is the most important to be analysed by the
student.
This system is used by all the teaching companies that manufacture process control
units. The competition uses this system to demonstrate very briefly what a PID is, but
cannot teach about 90% of the things indicated in the control books (Ogata book)
The data acquisition indicated in points 2.1 or 2.2 and closed control for process control units
are the “zenith” at Technical Education. EDIBON is above these zenith.
(Note: Please do not confuse “open control” with “close loop control”, as they have totally
different meanings).
As soon as you wish to use Open Control, Multicontrol, Real Time Control, ESN, etc., you
have to develop your own technology. That is what EDIBON has done in last 10 years and
represents a huge differences in technology comparing with our competitors. Due to that, it was
necessary to design:
www.edibon.com
These three elements electronic interface, software and DAS, communicate each other and
make the understanding between the unit and the computer. The result is that you can run the
teaching unit from the computer, getting many “unique” facilities.
EDIBON has developed more than 200 units using the systems 2.3 to 3.7 and each one has
different interfaces and different software. So we have developed more than 200 different
interfaces and 600 software packages. All available for our customers in the areas of: Fluid
Mechanics, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Thermodynamics, Process Control, Chemical
Engineering, Food Technology, Water Technology, Environmental, etc.
The philosophy and working procedure for using, designing and manufacturing them, are
similar for all EDIBON computer controlled units. The DAS from National Instruments is the
only common for all 200 units using computer controlled, but let us insist that each interface
and software is different for any application (teaching unit).
The EDIBON system uses open control that means the student and the teacher can
vary the parameters at any time and the analysis of the curve process can be analysed
without any limitations. We follow the curve that the process follows and we can vary
the conditions during the process. (With the close control you only see what happens, at
the beginning and at the end.)
By using Open Control you can openly analyse as well the gains, spans, the
proportional, integral and derivative constants, the execution time, etc. This is the
only and the proper way to teach about processes.
(Note: Please, do not confuse “open control” with “open control loop” that they have
different meanings than open and close control.)
If you explain these things to your customer, he will understand and he always will buy
only EDIBON Computer Control units.
3.3) Multicontrol
This is what you do with Open Control but with many parameters at the same time . If you
have a process using 20 different sensors, all them are working simultaneously and you can see
all the results at the same time at the computer screen. This is an excellent advantage, as you
see in milliseconds how much affect the changes in one parameter to the other 19 (if we use 20
parameters). The changes in all 19 are not linear, but follows a particular curve with its.

www.edibon.com
Some persons with low knowledge level and some teaching equipment manufacturers use to
confuse the teachers and customer about the concept of “real industrial simulation”. Many
others use to divide the Technical Teaching Equipment in two levels.
This is the actual wrong division used very much in the world.
Only if you have the mechanical part, the PLC, the electronics, the software and
computer you can talk with high knowledge, you simulate a real industrial process. If the
mechanical part use a small scale unit, industrial unit or a teaching unit it does not mean much.
The importance is to use the five parts, as you normally use in the industry. Example, if you see
a distillation column in a refinery or any place you distillate something, the distillation unit is a
small part of the process, as from this column there are many cables going to a “Control Room”
and the more complicated things are happening in the “Control Room”. EDIBON “really”
simulate a real industrial process, as we supply normally the five parts and customer use this
computer.
The answer is YES, even we can point out that it is really the only way to teach real industrial
process. In any process in the industry you have the physical mechanics parts, the cables going
from these mechanical parts to the “Control Room” and in the “Control Room” you have
electronics (interfaces), you have PLC`s, you have computers and some software that make
possible to understand everything. THIS IS WHAT EDIBON IS MANUFACTURING.
You can handle any unitary operation system or any simple or complex unit from the computer
key board. This is so simple and today any student at any level has more than enough capacity
for doing it by themselves with “cero” risk. The teachers will change the paradigms.
2/2
www.edibon.com
If any teacher wishes to teach students how to assembly and disassembly any unit, like motor,
air conditioning, pump, compressor, etc., you can get these units in most of the cases very
cheap or “free of charge” and for this purpose it is enough. EDIBON tries to teach other
complicated matters.
So, Industrial Simulation Vocational Training Level and University Level, must be
offered with the same units and system. This is what EDIBON does.
EDIBON is the only one manufacturer that is using these rules. These are very strong sales
arguments, additionally to the applied research, offered with all our computer controlled units.
1/3
www.edibon.com
When a customer buys EDIBON units or systems, the end customer does it looking for a
teaching purpose and that is what EDIBON offers, but the end customer can get several
other facilities with no extra cost, as example:
- To do applied research.
- To give courses to industry or other schools.
- To train trainers, due to advanced teaching techniques used.
Let us analyse these three additional and “free of charge” EDIBON facilities, for the following
applications:
a) Basic units.
b) Computer controlled units (advance).
c) EDIBON systems.
a) Basic units for Electronics, Telecommunications, Electricity, Electrical Machines and Fluid
Mechanics.
- Applied research.
For basic units, there is no much applied research as we handle everything at low level,
but some applied research can be done comparing the results you get with the industrial
units and by using the software facilities and the Data Acquisition System offered by
EDIBON.
Some industrial installations can be simulated with the basic units and you can analyse
the behaviour and you can compare several options and units facilities in order to
choose the best one in any case or application.
- Courses facilities.
Due to not only the clear and good explanation, the physical properties can be
demonstrated with any unit, because of we offer CAI (Computer Aided Instructor
Software), CAL (Calculation Soft), DAS (Data Acquisition System) that can guarantee
a HIGH LEVEL COURSES for the industrial workers, as the workers need to see real
matters in practices. Even to give courses to teachers from other Universities or
Technical Schools, even teachers teaching at Secondary Schools, as normally all these
teachers have a good theoretical background but confusing matters related with
practices and real world. Faults can be included, too.
- To train trainers.
Even for Basic the teachers training is so important, especially to try to give them a
CLEAR CONCEPT. The clear concept can be gotten by using some teaching
techniques, as CAI, CAL, EDAS, etc. EDIBON engineers can also explain the reasons
2/3
www.edibon.com
of using these teaching techniques, the meaning and the content, as EDIBON is 100%
designer of all these techniques.
The EDIBON computer controlled unit is “the most advanced teaching units available in the
market”, with all EDIBON computer controlled units you can do more exercises, frequently
double, than any similar, conventional unit, but additionally and with no any additional cost
you can do, too.
- Applied research.
These three characteristics allow to analyse in details any of the parameters, normally
between 4 and 50 parameters running in any EDIBON unit,. In case of 50 parameters
you can see the values of all the 50 in real time and moving in the parameter algorithm
curve or even moving outside the working curve. Because we work in nearly real time
and the data acquisition board get nearly 400.000 data per second, the big amount of
information, you can get a second that gives the customer all the facilities for doing
research.
In case you use a PLC, even several processes can be repeated or several running
possibilities can be programmed for long periods.
Heat pump efficiency in a country: Imagine, USA. The efficiency of a heat pump varies
from different parts of the country, as the weather is very different. Imagine that a
researcher wishes to have a HEAT PUMP EFFICIENCY in USA, even in any state of
the country and with the weather conditions of 365 days per year in any state. The
researcher needs three things, mainly:
1. The weather conditions statistics of any USA state for every 365 days of one
year.
2. He needs the THBAR22C EDIBON unit.
3. He needs to put in the THBAR22C unit, the weather conditions. The
research needs some work to do and take the results for any weather
conditions from the THBAR22C EDIBON unit.
The rest can be done by the EDIBON unit, even the researcher can analyse the matter
by using different combination of 2 evaporators and 2 condensers offered by this unit.
ALL THE WORK CAN BE DONE IN ANY PLACE, IN ANY COUNTRY, by the
researcher.
3/3
www.edibon.com
- Courses facilities.
If you offer courses to the industry, any decision maker can be happy as:
• Units (processes).
• Electronics and Electrical.
• PLC.
• Computer.
• Some software to combine the complete system.
For training trainers, you need what was explained previously and additionally, to
analyse the proper computer controlled teaching techniques itself and to analyse some
other complementary teaching techniques, as Scada-Net, where 30 students can work at
the same time.
c) Systems.
- Courses.
Similar as explained in point “b”.
- Training trainers.
Similar as explained in point “b” but with the advantage of the interaction between
trainers and trainees. These are really unique systems.
1/1
www.edibon.com
Let me explain with an example: Supposing a Refrigeration Analogue Unit, any manufacturer
use a safety device, as pressure switch. This safety device protect and everybody thinks that
this is enough, but we consider that “it is not”...Why? Supposing, that a pressure switch is
broken or blocked for any reason, in this case the unit has no protection.
Example:
Supposing the mechanical device fails for any reason, I mean the pressure switch is broken or
blocked or cut out for bad student intention. If this is the case, the electronic device works and
cut off, in case if pressure increases to the dangerous level. Who works? The pressure sensor is
regulated for working in a particular range, sending proper milivolts or miliamps to the
electronic interface, so if this amount is exceeded the electronic system in the interface CUTS
OFF.
But supposing that the mechanical safety device fails and the electronic safety device fails or
the student cuts out, in this case the software device operates as the software pocket has been
designed for working only inside a particular pressure range.
We explain the matter with pressure, but can be the same with voltage, speed, temperature,
level, etc. Any sensor used in any EDIBON computer controlled unit, has the same philosophy.
When a teacher buys EDIBON computer controlled unit, he must know his students and
himself are TOTALLY PROTECTED.
