The Department of Science and Technology VI participated in the motorcade (with route from Muelle Loney Iloilo-SM Delgado-
Robinsons Place, Jaro, Iloilo), Opening Ceremony and Ribbon Cutting of Statistical Exhibits during the 29th National Statistics
Month Celebration at the Quad, Robinsons Place Jaro, Iloilo City on October 4, 2018.This year’s theme is “EXPLORING
PHILIPPINE WONDERS IN NUMBERS: Statistics Towards Sustainable Tourism Development”. The activity was hosted by the
Regional Statistics Committee (RSC) Region VI-Western Visayas and Department of Tourism (DOT) Region VI-Western Visayas.
The National Statistics Month is being celebrated during the month of October every year and aims to (1) promote, enhance and
instill awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics to the different sectors of society; and (2) to elicit the
cooperation and support of the general public in upgrading the quality and standards of statistics in the country (PSA, 2018).
The event was attended by the 46 National Government Agencies, 6 participating schools and 9 participating Local Government
Agencies in Western Visayas.
Atty. Helen J. Catalbas, Regional Director of the Department of Tourism Region VI gave a welcome message and in behalf of the
Regional Director of the Statistics Economic Analysis and Information Management Division (SEAIMD), DOT-OTDPRIM, Ms.
Manette T. Reyes, Officer-in-Charge, SEAIMD, DOT-OTDPRIM served as the keynote speaker during the activity.
After the Opening Ceremonies, Ribbon Cutting and Opening of the Statistical Exhibits was conducted which was headed by Dir.
Helen J. Catalbas, DOT Region Vi, Ms. Manette T. Reyes, DOT Central Office, Dir. Ro-Ann A. Bacal, NEDA Region VI and Dir.
Fred S. Sollesta, PSA Region VI.
