Although the simulations were nerve-wracking, i think that they were helpful to my development as a student/nurse.

COMP II served as a safe environment to continue practicing skills and is a welcome break from the stress of JR I
and clinical environment

Getting feedback and hands on skills

Going to the different emergency departments and other off-site locations were great experiences. The simulations
were well organized, thought out and provided great teaching/learning opportunities throughout the semester.

Good instructors. Good balance between lab and clinical experience.

Having SIM really helped because it put us in situations where we had to think. I know everyone hates them but they
really do help before we have to actually be with a real patient. ED days were great also because I got to see and do
a lot more than I am able to do on a regular floor unit/

Having the observation rotations - I learned so much!

I enjoyed the simulations; they were helpful to my learning experience.

I feel like all the demonstrations were working really well. I thought it would have been more effective if we had more
phlebotomy/IV time.

I learned a lot during the simulations this semester. The end of life simulation was extremely useful and insightful.

I like the course schedule. Having lab followed by a clinical experience or a simulation keeps me "on my toes" and I
was never bored.

I liked visiting all the different clinical settings.

I wish there were more days in the ED.

It was helpful to learn all of the different kinds of procedures and get a chance to practice them.

Learning by doing.

Love the lab and the simulators - so great to practice skills in the lab first.

Loved my teachers

Showing my procedures in person is very helpful and then having us perform them.

Loved visiting different places. I learned so much from the Emergency Room.

My instructor was amazing. She was skilled, patient with students, and overall made my Junior 1 semester incredible
and made me feel more confident as a nurse.

My instructor was well informed about the various conditions of the patient. She really helped me to think critically
about each patient by utilizing the lab values and looking at the patient from a holistic standpoint. The post
conference created an open forum to putting all the pieces together in trying to understand the significance of an
assessment, vital signs, lab values and past medical history of the patient. It was an great opportunity for learning.

Simulations & Site Rotations

The ER clinicals were the best opportunities for learning thus far in nursing school. It would be incredibly helpful if
there were more of these experiences.

The Emergency Room experiences were so helpful for this semester. Being able to see the medical conditions we are
learning in class was so helpful.

The clinical sites were very helpful for developing my nursing skills; especially the ER.

The concept maps and posted assignments for helpful in advancing our critical thinking and knowledge.

The emergency room rotations was a great way in giving students hands experience and observation.

The hands on examples.

The hands-on portion of lab and clinical helped me become more comfortable in the clinical setting.

The simulations were very helpful and realistic. The practice videos are helpful.

Always ready to help

Both Mrs. Pearson and Mrs. Schultz were great instructors. They both are very clear and patient.

Both Mrs. Pearson and Mrs. Shultz are very kind, compassionate and fun to be around on those long Wednesday
evenings. They are very knowledgeable on the material they taught us, approachable and it was evident that they
want us to be successful and prepared for our future careers as nurses. I appreciated the weekly announcements
and scriptures.

Chidley and Liverman are extremely strong faculty, I couldn't ask for better COMP II instructors. They are supportive,
knowledgeable, and kind. This is a really difficult semester and they helped all of us navigate through tough content,
tough simulations and tough clinical experiences, keeping it real and keeping us focused.

Everyone was really helpful at making sure that I had as many opportunities to see as much as possible.

Explaining the content for the day.

Extremely knowledgeable and great instructors.

Faculty was always willing to help and will to share experiences which makes it more relatable.

Faculty was patient and created an atmosphere of learning.

Making sure students participated and got hands on in the labs

Mrs. Chidley and Mrs. Liverman are both fantastic teachers. They are positive and encouraging, thorough and kind.

Mrs. Pearson was amazing in the clinical setting. She took the time to let us experience things we may otherwise not
experience while in school or in our careers. Mrs. Shutlz and Mrs. Pearson were very knowledgeable in our lab when
we were learning clinical skills.

Professor Chidley and Liverman worked great as a team. Ms. Chidley is a very empathetic professor who always
supports you. She was great during simulation because she let you know it's okay to make mistakes and learn from
them. She always highlights your strengths and gives you confidence in your skills when you doubt yourself.

Providing visual equipment that we can practice with during the lab and simulation experiences.

The ability to relate to the student. Mrs.Liverman was the emotional support I needed to get through this semester.

The combined experience of the faculty. I loved picking the brains of the staff members and hearing their stories.

The faculty was knowledgeable and helpful when discussing various topics. The faculty always allowed time for Q
and A with the students.

The faculty was very thorough and her expertise was very helpful.

The strengths of the faculty was her knowledge and also her ability to help me challenge myself.
Also, communication skills with myself and other students. When she assigned the patients to us, she tried to make
sure it was correlated with the subject we were learning in ANS.

were in the ED. They made this course a lot of fun and even though we were learning a lot of very important things it
was very laid back and I did not feel nervous when performing new skills around them. I thoroughly enjoyed having
both of them this semester.

Continue Site Rotations

Ensuring all sites are aware of students scheduled for clinical rotation. Staff seemed fluttered when students arrived
and they were not expecting students. This occurred at during our Dialysis rotation at Chester and VAT at St. Francis
hospital.

I believe med math assignments on a weekly basis would be extremely helpful for all students. One lecture that
includes math as part of the topic is not enough especially if math does not come natural. I think more practice with
math in this course (any maybe others) would help broaden understanding so that when test time rolls around
students are more likely to do well with those questions.

I don't have any recommendations for the course at this time.

I don't think there needs to be any changes made to the course.

I recommend that there are more Emergency room experiences.

I still have some trouble with simulations and trying to treat it like a real life situation. Other than the end of life
simulation they still seemed very unrealistic to me although I know the college is trying their best to make sims as real
as possible.

I think we should be better prepared for simulations. It is stressful enough going into a simulation, the last thing we
need is to be lost and confused. The only simulation I have felt extremely prepared for was the first one because we
had a video explaining what we would be doing.

I think we should have more time on the IVs and also we talked about doing a class at the very end to just have an
open lab with instructors to be able to go over anything that we have learned in comp I and II.

Instead of a built in day off, I would have preferred a makeup day with the ED since we were snowed out multiple
times. Or some sort of make up day for a clinical experience like that. More phlebotomy and IV time would be so
much better for our confidence at clinicals too.

Maybe do more case study examples about the material learned for each topic

More coordination between staff teaching that day and what the plan will be.

More observation rotations.

More opportunities to learn in the clinical setting compared to skills labs.

More practice for skills.

More preparation for EOL Sim. It would be amazing to practice that sim before it actually occurs- it is a great exercise
in team communication to begin with

One or two more off-site experiences: extra ED, Dialysis, VAT, or something else in lieu of CSC. I definitely learned
from the CSC class, but favored the off-site experiences.

Potentially the ability to place students in locations that are not an hour away from their homes. Some students had
the luxury of traveling to different clinical experiences (dialysis, VAT/IC, etc.) only 15-20 minutes away from their
homes, while others were strained with driving an hour or more to locations. As well as students who are on the Med-
Tele unit at MRMC (formally the renal unit), could possible miss the dialysis rotation and experience another rotation
instead since many patients are on dialysis (almost every student in our clinical rotation group was able to experience
dialysis first hand)

Power points need to be updated

Recommendations for me is provide more opportunity for hands on skills, for example learning and performing IV
insertion, how to utilize IV pump, demonstrating how to perform a thorough assessment on the patient. Some of the
experiences in the acute clinical setting didn't allow me to perform the necessary skills that I learned in the clinical lab
setting.

The chance to practice skills - we would learn new skills and practice them one time....

The dialysis experience does not need to be 3 hours. We could probably get away with a 2 hour observation and
possibly a 1 hour tutorial to answer the questions on the sheet. MRMC ED was fascinating as we got to experience
the ED and the Cath Lab. We did not do this at SFED. If it is possible, it would be nice to incorporate some
meaningful observation there.

a different hospital unit would be very helpful for future students. The unit did not engage at all with students, instead
made us feel like a burden or that we were there just to do their busy work. It was not an education practicum.

Don't take things personally, don't judge students based on previous student encounters, if you're going to treat
students different, try not to make it obvious.

Fewer students giving medications so that we are not pressed for time and can know what meds we are giving.

I do not have any recommendations for improvement! Great job!

I don't really have any suggestions. The style of both Chidley and Liverman works well for me.

I don't think they need to improve, Mrs. Chidley and Mrs. Liverman were wonderful.

I felt our faculty were great and always taught with kindness and compassion.

I think it would be better if, while teaching, explain how our simulations will go.

I was Ok with what the faculty offered.

I wish we spent more time in the EDs!

Less slides, they can get to be too redundant.

Let us work more on each other if we are willing! I know it's not possible with our certification but it would have
increased my confidence. Otherwise, I don't have any suggestions. You work hard and we can tell!

Teaching was great!

Teaching was sufficient and lab skills were taught well. I just wish class had more time for lab skills. Both teachers
had a caring and helping attitude toward all students and were very approachable to ask and get help with questions

The faculty seemed to be disjointed at times and not on the same page as far as methods or plans for the day.
Collaboration before-hand would be helpful. This made the students feel awkward and like the plan for the day was
sometimes not planned out together before class time.

There are none. They are both great.

They are great so I don't have any recommendations at this time.

United teaching approach in explaining procedures and assigned assignments. It was unclear which tasks were due
during lab (Aspire). ATI assignments did not seem connect to objectives reviewed in lab. I would like assigned ATI
topics to be reviewed in lab to connect objectives and procedures.
