KAREN M. SHER
Clerk On December 1, 2017, you submitted a timesheet for the month of
November 2017 which included 7.5 hours of unapproved overtime. The
BEATRIZ R. HERRERA unapproved/unauthorized overtime totals approximately $418.53 that was
Member not budgeted for any particular project in the department and it is not clear
what work was assigned to you or completed during 3 of these 7.5 overtime
WAYNE EDMONDS hours.

Submittal of unapproved overtime violates section 11.2.2 of the Classified
ADMINISTRATION Employee contract which states, “Whenever it is necessary for employees to
work overtime as determined by the appropriate manager, such overtime
DR. PENELOPE A. DELEON shall be distributed as equally as is reasonable on the basis of those qualified
Superintendent of Schools employees assigned to a particular site or work station and pay shall be
commensurate with overtime assignment.”
DR. TOM McCOY
Assistant Superintendent
Educational Services
By becoming an active team member, you will alleviate issues and in your
communications within the department and with me as your supervisor. We
DR. ROBERT “ROCKY” VALLES discussed that when you have questions about projects, work assignments,
Assistant Superintendent training you require, or other work issues you should contact me via text,
Human Resources phone, or email to clarify the issue.

MICHAEL “SID” ALBAUGH Accordingly, this incident also violates section 20.6(b) of the Classified
Assistant Superintendent
Employee contract in that following our conference regarding
Business Services
communication you are demonstrating insubordinate behavior by
performing unassigned and/or unknown tasks during unapproved overtime
Visit our Website at without prior approval.

Specifically, you do not comply with timelines related to tasks assigned to
you and you consistently lack communication with me as your immediate
supervisor regarding your understanding of the tasks assigned to you. Due to

this lack of communication I am unsure of what work assigned to you is
being completed.

Additionally, you continue to suggest and redirect work to others in the

department without approval and/or refuse training when offered. This has
disrupted the workflow in our department.

Your conduct results and precludes the opportunity for discussion about
alternative means of accomplishing the tasks that would not place undue
constraints on the budget or other employees.

To assist in correcting this conduct, I offer the following directives:

In the future, if a project requires additional time for completion or if you

are unsure of how to begin or complete a project, please contact me via
email, text, or phone to discuss the situation in detail and to review the
scope of the project, what alternatives might be available to complete the
project, what training is available, and the time required to complete the
project successfully.

Any future overtime submitted without prior approval will not be paid and
will be considered an additional incident of insubordination. This will result
in further disciplinary action including but not limited to a Level III Written
Reprimand.

A copy of this letter will be placed in your personnel file after 10 days. You
may prepare a response which will be attached to this document.
