Abstract
Drug rehabilitation centers are abundant in the Philippines recently because of the government's thrust against
drug abuse. Considering that the Philippines government has a solution for the drug surrenderees and have
admitted them in drug rehabilitation centers, only some municipalities have evident drug rehabilitation modules,
thus this study was conducted.

This study was primarily designed to construct an Instructional Module To Resolve And Nurture Self For
Optimal Recovery Management to End Drug dependency (IM TRANSFORMED) utilizing the mixed method
approach with the PAR design. This was conducted at Brgy. Dayao, Roxas City, Capiz; It was specifically
chosen due to being one of the barangays that is declared as drug free by the PNP. The participants will be the
Barangay Health Workers (BHW) preferably those who have undergone training for Barangay Anti-Drug
Abuse Council (BADAC) or those with experience in handling drug addicts in the family home of the local.
The study targeted the twenty-one (21) BHW/BADAC members of Brgy. Dayao, Roxas City.

The Assessment phase includes site selection, guided by the specific criteria, courtesy call with the brgy.
Officials followed by data gathering through self-administered questionnaire duly validated and pre-tested to
determine level of awareness of the BHW/BADAC member as basis for module making. The results revealed
that the BHW had high level of awareness towards community-based drug rehabilitation program. The Planning
phase includes conferring with the PNP, CHO, DOH and the prescribed psychiatrist regarding the roles and
implementation of Community Based Drug Rehabilitation Program. Four sessions was arranged with the key
informants for the module making. Action phase involves the formulation of the module through four sessions.
Session 1: Community preparation and screening, Session 2: Assessment for Drug Addicts for Drug
Rehabilitation Program, Session 3: General Interventions, and Session 4: Evaluation. Group sessions involves
interactive discussions with various group dynamics and participatory activities. Evaluation phase involves the
finalization and presentation of the finished module to the BHW and to the varied health agencies to determine
its acceptability as an instructional material.

Narrative analysis was applied on the verbal and observational data acquired from the FGD and module-making
process. The key informants had varied experiences and insights during the creation of the module. The
experiences explored from the key informants during the module making was after gradual collaboration in the
sessions, they have enjoyed and were appreciative that their suggestions became useful in the creation of the
module. On the other hand, the insights shared that their perception had changed, for they have expressed that
instead of despising the drug addicts, they learned to accept them and guide them in their recovery process.
The module should be subjected for reliability testing and evaluation to be of use to the health agencies who are
involved in the Community based Drug rehabilitation module; PHO, DSWD, DOH, and to the prescribed
psychiatrist.
