Sportsboard Member

Description: As member of the Sports Board you will take an active role in
organizing the various committees and be involved in the decision-making
process for the SEPEP season. Some of these decisions may be made
together with the teacher, but in most instances the Sports Board will be sole
decision-making body.

Tasks & Duties

 Determine the team selection policy, team sizes, competition format,


and assist with disputes
 Coordinate the nomination of awards and recognition of
achievement.
 Assist others in their team roles.
 Work closely with the teacher to ensure that the season is successful
for all.
 Manage the Culminating event
 Work closely with the tutor to ensure the season is rewarding for all
 Making decisions regarding fair play violations.

Selection Committee

Description: As member of the Selection Committee you will take an active


role in selecting and monitoring the teams for the SEPEP season. Some of
these decisions may be made together with the teacher and sportsboard, but
in most instances the Selection Committee will be sole decision-making body.

Tasks & Duties

 Making decisions regarding selection


 Provide the selection criteria by which the group will be graded
 Monitor the teams to ensure the team are fair
 Manage the selection process to cover injury or absence
 Provide an assessment for each player at the end of the season

Records Committee

Description: As member of the Records Committee you will take an active


role in maintaining the records for the SEPEP season. Some of these
decisions may be made together with the teacher, but in most instances the
Records Committee will be sole decision-making body.

Tasks & Duties

 In conjunction with the ESE decide what aspects of the SEPEP season
will be acknowledge and recognized throughout the season and at the
ESE Event.
 Maintain a true and accurate record of events for the SEPEP season.
 Post all relevant information regarding the season via the Publicity
Committee

ensure the competition is kept up to date.

Publicity/Ethics Committee

Description: As member of the Publicity Committee you will take an active


role in communicating the status of the SEPEP season to the class
electronically. As member of the Publicity Committee you are also required
to produce a code of ethics by which the SEPEP season will be conducted.
Some of these decisions may be made together with the teacher, but in most
instances the Records Committee will be sole decision-making body.

Tasks & Duties


 Post all relevant information regarding the season from the various committees to
Blackboard.
 Provide a code of ethics by which the SEPEP season will be conducted by each
player and team.
 Design promotional material for display promoting the SEPEP season.
 Preview the week’s coming games.
 Provide written reports regarding players and teams performances throughout the
SEPEP season.
 Capture and post photographs of the competitors and their teams.
 Promote the Season.

Fixtures Committee

Description: As member of the Fixtures Committee you will take an active


role in providing the fixtures for the SEPEP season. Some of these decisions
may be made together with the teacher, but in most instances the Selection
Committee will be sole decision-making body.

 Making decisions regarding fixtures


 Provide a variety of different fixture formats for the SEPEP season
 Ensure the fixtures are fair
 In conjunction with the other committees roster duty teams for
equipment, refereeing etc.
 Post all relevant information regarding the season via the Publicity
Committee

Festivities/ESE Committee

Description: As member of the ESE Committee you will take an active role in
organizing the various ESE and be involved making the SEPEP season festive.
Some of these decisions may be made together with the teacher, but in most
instances the Sports Board will be sole decision-making body.

Coach

Description: The coach is responsible for organising training sessions to


practise skills and team strategies, and instructing the team on match days, .

 Plan and organise a training session.


 Conduct a training session, with other members of the team.
 Assist in the skill development of players.
 Include all team members in decision-making process.
 Assist in dispute resolution.

Captain

Description: The captain is responsible for leading the team and ensuring
that the team’s behaviour is responsible and cooperative during the match
program.

Tasks & Duties

 Toss the coin before the game.


 Be a role model for playing, behaviour and effort in the match
program/training.
 Encourage all team members to be active participants of the team.
 Assist in dispute resolution.

Referee/Umpire

Description: Officiate game during the SEPEP season. Be the subject matter
expert on the rules and regulations of the chosen sport for the season.

Tasks & Duties

 Understanding of the rules, the ‘Spirit of the Laws’ and signals of the
game.
 Make own decisions – be firm yet fair.
 Blow whistle loudly and clearly as soon as infringement occurs.
 Act on breaches of the playing code of conduct.

First Aid

Description: Responsible for the basic safety and care of players.

Tasks & Duties

 Maintain the first aid kit.


 Learn the basic safety procedures in case of injury.
 Write up reports of accidents/injuries.
 Identify potential hazards or causes of injury and report these to the
teacher (risk management procedures).

Required Skills

 Knowledge of injury management/prevention.
