Praise for ‘tenderSURE’, to become national model

Nagpur: The Union ministry of housing and urban affairs (MoHUA) has praised the Smart City special purpose vehicle Nagpur
Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation Limited’s (NSSCDCL) ‘tenderSURE’ concept. The concept is all set to
become a model for other cities.
The MoHUA in a tweet on August 28 said the project was tendered at Nagpur and this is one of projects under focus. “Laying
of waste water pipeline is one of the big challenge for the local bodies due to its huge excavation work. It will be 3 metres wide
and will occupy either the centre part of the road or side. All the other utilities like waterline, telecommunication, electric cables
etc will get disturbed during the process.,” the Centre said.

“If repair works are carried out one after the other, it would create hassles for the public. It would be ideal that authorities plan
all such works simultaneously and integrate them in one single package. Now, under the Smart Cities Mission, Nagpur city has
come out with an integrated package — design and construction of roads, bridges, culverts, sidewalks, MEP works on
tenderSURE concept for area based development (ABD) under Nagpur Smart City project,” the centre said.

TenderSURE concept was first implemented in Karnataka. The SPV headed by additional chief secretary to CM Praveen
Pardeshi had proposed to take up all utility works simultaneously at an estimated cost of Rs 650 crore in Smart City area of
1,743 acres covering Pardi, Punapur, Bharatwada and Bhandewadi in East Nagpur.

The SPV had finalized Mumbai-based Shapoorji Pallonji Group for execution of the works. A letter of acceptance has been
issued to the company few days ago. Now, an agreement will be executed followed by execution of the works. The deadline to
finish the works is 18 months.

The concept’s major advantage will be prevention from trenching and digging of roads on regular manner for laying utilities
and also citizens will get all types of services at a time.

The city’s Smart City project is also leading among all in the nation.
