Con su magistral técnica para tejer se ganó el nombre de “La Tierra de La Hamaca
Grande”. Es un municipio montañoso y lleno de senderos ecológicos, en donde se
encuentran petroglifos de los antepasados, con diseños simbólicos grabados en
rocas.
Este poblado, de raíces africanas e indígenas, está situado en el centro del depar-
tamento de Bolívar. Es cuna de juglares como Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto, mere-
cedores de un premio Grammy que da fe de la riqueza cultural de este pueblo.
