Delivering energy supply solutions

Wood Plc. delivers energy supply solutions to a

diverse client base across conventional power, waste
to energy, local and regional Government,
industrial/commercial, defence, oil & gas and nuclear
sectors.

Our engineering teams, working closely with planning,

regulatory and environmental colleagues, provide
technical design support at all stages of project delivery
from feasibility and concept work through FEED,
detailed design, procurement, commissioning and
operation. Our focus on adding value includes resource
efficiency and maximising benefits from energy
outputs, often including supply to heating (and cooling)
networks.

Heat Recovery Solutions District Heating Capability

Heat recovery represents an important and
unexplored opportunity for reducing energy use
in industrial processes. Our extensive know-how
and decades of process plant experience
worldwide makes it possible for us to design and
deliver heat recovery systems that maximise
economic and environmental gains. We offer
complete process solutions for combustion and
waste to energy plants, recovering heat from
exhaust gases, Steam turbines, ovens, dryers,
kilns etc. We can also carry-out detailed design
of packaged heat sub-stations, interface heating
unit (HIU) to generate Low temperature hot
water (LTHW) for district heating schemes.
Out technical teams support diverse client base
through procurement of process plants, selection
of preferred suppliers and management of works.
Our teams also deliver EPC and Build Own
Operate (BOO) contracts.
Our capability regarding district heating spans the
full lifecycle of delivery from initial feasibility through
to procurement and build out. We support clients in
early phase development of new build networks
through initial demand assessment profiling and
outline techno-economic appraisals. We offer full
Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) and detailed
design services including district heating layouts,
energy centres, heating interface control but also
implementation programmes, initial risk registers
and wider aspects of development in terms of
planning and environmental permitting.
Out technical advisory services support clients
through procurement of infrastructure, selection of
preferred suppliers and management of works.
Our teams also deliver EPC and Build Own
Operate (BOO) contracts. We provide master
planning services for large scale urban
developments, including CHP enabled Energy from
Waste (EfW) plants and district heating solutions.

We carry out strategic work with local authorities

and Government looking at asset management
and carbon reduction strategies including early
phase feasibility and resource assessment for the
provision of low carbon heating supply via

decentralised networks.

We also support clients operating existing heat

networks in carrying out asset condition surveys
and review of operational models. Such work
includes assessment of future expansion options
and revision of operating conditions to
incorporate fuel switches and low carbon heat
sources.

Delivery partners
While we typically deliver projects from our own
resources we are also able to draw on a range
of delivery partners to support specific projects.
This includes FVB, a major developer and
operator of district heating in Sweden.
