Summary of involvement @ Seymour (academic, co-curricular, extra-curricular)

Academic
▶ I have observed numerous classes including Year 9 Medical Science and Year 9 Science (another Y9 class) with Paula
Groncki, and occasionally, Year 12 Biology with Nicky Harding. I have also observed fellow student teacher, Josh Bird,
as he was teaching Year 11 Chemistry.
▶ Observed an Art class of my Year 7 STEM students.
▶ I have taught a few lessons in Year 9 Medical Science, to gain practice in teaching biology, and also to fill in for Paula
when she was away. The latter was also true for my normal Year 9 observation class.
▶ I have taught the entirety of Year 7 class during their camp week; the half that was not in camp engaged in practical
lessons with me, learning about energy and force by building rubber-powered boats. These lessons repeated twice as
Year 7s went to camp in two groups.
▶ I have participated fully in moderation sessions, engaging with both Paula and Melissa Boden. We have changed each
other’s minds in the assessment standards of several summative tasks. This was for three sessions in total (two with
Paula for two of Year 9 Science tasks, and one with Melissa for Year 9 Medical Science).
▶ Related to the above, I have marked a summative task for Year 9 Medical Science (Case Study of diseases).
▶ I have attended all staff meetings related to my position, including STEM, Middle School, and general staff meetings.
▶ Visited Cynthia Jones to discuss ILP students (and subsequently visiting her enrichment class).
▶ Discussion with Paula weekly, regarding various topics (criticisms of my work, students, assessments, etc).
▶ Participated ILP and CV meetings by Cynthia and Tom.
▶ Normal Year 7 STEM lesson replaced to present Enterprise Week plan (requested by Amanda Shephard),
subsequently participated in commenting and assessing their presentations.

Co-curricular
▶ Enterprise Fair: attended the fair upon requests of the students.
▶ Participated in an event organised by the Science Club.
▶ Attended and watched Inter-Clan Soccer matches on the last day of the term.

Extra-curricular
▶ Attended and watched the play by Year 12 Drama students: Pass the Butler.
▶ Attended Staff Happy Hour.
