LITERACY focus standard
CCSS: RL1.5 Students will explain the
difference between books that tell stories
and books that give information.
Vocabulary: fiction, non-fiction, text features
Strategy: students will identify the features of
fiction and non-fiction texts.

 Phonics and comprehension passage homework is
optional and due on Friday.

MATH focus standard
CCSS: NBT.2 Understand that the two digits of a
two-digit number represent amounts of tens and ones.
This week we will REVIEW counting strategies that
include making groups of ten. The tens place is the
number of groups and the ones place is the leftovers (not
in a group of 10). We will use place value blocks to
reinforce this strategy, and to represent a ten.
