Guidelines for Mini-Group Reporting

I. Oral Presentation

A. All team members must have equal speaking parts.

B. The entire report must be delivered in English.
C. The allotted time for each of the presentation is only 20 minutes.

D. The report should have a clear flow (i.e. introduction, body, and conclusion).
1. The introduction may be done using any of the following ways:
a. Thought-provoking Question/s
b. Emphatic Statement/Phrase
c. Hypothetical Scenario
d. Relevant Quotation
2. The body includes the “meat” or the key ideas of the assigned topic.
a. Important events, distinguished writers, and prevailing themes in that period
b. One (1) literary piece for the period assigned to your group
c. Five (5) unfamiliar words from the literary piece and its definition.

3. The conclusion should tie everything that had been discussed. Do not introduce something
new here, instead, synthesize all the key ideas. The following should be present:
a. Summary
b. Group Analysis/Personal Insights

E. After each report, there will be a five-minute feedback session. The instructor can either give
comments/suggestions/recommendations or ask questions.

F. All groups are highly encouraged to make their presentations equally substantial and creative.
The execution should NOT be too serious or technical such that the audience will be
uninterested and lethargic. On the other hand, the report should NOT be over-the-top fancy or
theatrical such that the class missed out learning the key people/elements/arguments of the
assigned topic.

G. The reporters must maintain proper posture, eye contact, and good voice projection.

H. Prepare. Practice. Pray.

II. PowerPoint Presentation (PPT)

A. Each group PowerPoint presentation should just have a total of three (3) to five (5) slides
since the report is only for 15 minutes.

B. Research thoroughly. You are required to use at least one (1) textbook and one (1) website.
You are NOT allowed to use Wikipedia as a source. Instead, look for websites whose URL
end with any of the following: org, edu, gov, co, or net. Your last slide will be entitled
“References”. Cite all your sources here using the APA citation style.

C. Slides must only include words or phrases in bullet points. Direct quotations of key
personalities may be included.

D. Follow the “7x7 Rule”. Aside from the title or heading, the content per slide should a
maximum of seven (7) lines and seven (7) words. Otherwise, add another slide. See examples
below:

E. For the font type, choose only one (1) of the following: ARIAL, CALIBRI, or VERDANA.
For the font size, choose from 24-44 (Note: The header/title should always be bigger than
the bullet points.)

F. You may include pictures as long as you cite your references. See examples below:

the-philosophers-stone-9781408855652/ brockis/2014/7/19/its-time-to-stop-taking-
sides-and-use-whole-brain-thinking

G. For proper contrast, use dark-colored fonts on light background. Conversely, use light-
colored fonts on dark backgrounds.
H. Above all, make sure all members understand the report. Do not simply memorize or directly
read from the slide. You may use cue cards but just glance at them every now and then.
