St Anne's Corner
We continue to seek officers for St. Ann's Altar Society. It is a two year commitment and very rewarding. It
does not require much of your time. Every member of the society is eligible. Won't you please open your
heart and step up to this rewarding service.

St. Anne's Altar Society meeting is scheduled Sunday, October 21 after Mass in the St. Joseph school
basement. All ladies of the society and anyone wanting to become a member are invited and welcome.

Did You Know…….. Every woman, married or single of the Parish, from age of 18 years or over, is not only
eligible, but should be encouraged to be a Member of the Society? Membership is acquired by designating
the desire to join and having your Name entered on the Roster of membership and by payment of the annual
dues. Each member is required to pay an annual fee of $3.00.

Contact Kim Irwin at 475-3295 to join.

CCD REMINDERS…..
Mass attendance sheets can be turned in the middle of October. Thank you for
taking care of these requests. ……….Rose Redeker

On Wednesday, October 24, the JH/HS students will Trick-or-Treat for canned and non perishable food items for
the Salvation Army. If you are interested in helping with this service project, please place your donated items on
your porch and we will pick them up. There will be a basket in church for those who live out of town and want to
help. If your food items do not get picked up please call Brian at 475-3767. We collected more food last year than
any other year thanks to the community that we live in. Please help us provide food for those who are in need.
…….. Brian Schmidt and the eleventh and twelfth grade class

On Wednesday, November 7, our parish will celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation. Abbot
James Albers OSB will join us for this Confirmation Mass at 7:00 pm. We have 31 students that
will be confirmed into the Catholic Faith. They would enjoy having the members of the parish
attend mass and join them for the reception that will follow in the Knight's Hall.
Since a lot of the students and parents will be directly involved with Confirmation, religious
education will be canceled that evening so families can have the opportunity to attend this
celebration.
Parents can start sending their child's pictures and First Communion Candles for table
decorations to religious education class or bring them when it's time to decorate. It seems like the
best time for decorating will be Sunday morning after Mass on November 4.

Parents of first through fourth grade students are invited to view a Live Nativity on a field trip November 30.
Permission slips and a note with more details will be sent home on October 10. Please respond as soon as
possible so final arrangements can be made.
Rural Youth Ministry Outreach
It's time to register for RCYC!
Crafted & Worthy November 17-18, 2018
A dynamic weekend for all ArchKCK youth including Mary Bielski, The Mikey
Needleman Band, Archbishop Naumann, Wichita Adore Ministries, mass, adoration,
great food and great fun
The 2nd ArchKCK Rural Catholic Youth Conference will be held in Topeka on November17-18, 2018. This weekend
will be an opportunity for our parish youth to intensely experience the love of our Father and the truth, beauty and
goodness that our beautiful church offers.
Beyond the created, crafted implies something more intimate and thought-out, like the process of an artist. Every detail
of every person has been crafted by God. Each person has inherent dignity and is worthy to be called Child of a King.
RCYC is sponsored by Rural Youth Ministry Outreach, but is open to all parishes and youth of the Archdiocese. Not sure if your son or
daughter would enjoy? Talk to someone who came in 2016. Not sure if you can gather all the funds by the deadline? Contact RYMO or
Kay Schmidt about payment support and a fundraiser that should cover the costs! Many of the kids play sports, but the weekend of the
17th should avoid most every high school game! There is nothing more important than answering questions, connecting our Catholic
kids and offering opportunities to encounter our Lord. We hope and pray the St. Joseph Olpe families take advantage of this
opportunity. All 9-12 grades will hear about this opportunity at our next CCD class! Prayerfully consider this conference. We have the
funds and the chaperones available… all we need is your commitment! God Bless!

 Sacred Heart Fall Festival is Sunday, Nov. 4 from 10:30-1:30 at the parish hall. Dine in or carry
out of Turkey and Dressing, potatoes and gravy, green beans, sauerkraut, salads, rolls,
homemade desserts. Adults are $10 and children ages 3-10 are $5.

 Construction on the Olpe All Veterans Memorial will begin as soon as the contractor
is available. Reebles Monuments is currently engraving the names on the granite.
To date, there are 350 names to place. We are still accepting donations; and names
will be added as requested.

Please help patronize the Olpe Senior Meals program and help keep it from being closed!
 Meals served M-F at 11:30 AM at Olpe Knights Hall. $3.50 for 60 or older, $5.25
for younger than 60. Call Debbie Markowitz at 475-3384 (9:30-noon) for reservations
the day before.
