Prayer Participation Assignment

In order to meet the learning outcomes each of you must design a short prayer service for the
class. The following structure is designed to assist you in your planning.

1. THEME – your theme should be centered on one of the following:

a. Theology of the Body (purity, chastity, dignity in relationships, health choices)
b. Social Justice (poverty, child exploitation, gender/racial/economic inequality)
c. Reverence for Life (respect for life at all stages – infancy, illness, elderly)

2. OPENING PRAYER -create an opening prayer of your own that clearly identifies your
theme.

3. REFLECTIVE MEDIUM - use a story, song, poem or video clip to make your theme more
apparent and real in the minds of your classmates.

4. INTENTIONS - offer a minimum of two prayer intentions per person that relate to your
theme and ask the class to offer up intentions.

5. CLOSING PRAYER -finish the prayer service with a closing reflection for the class.

Please Note:
 Any inappropriate language or content will result in an immediate stop to the prayer
and the student(s) shall receive an immediate zero. It is strongly advised that the
student(s) review all lyrics/video clips before presenting it to the class – when in doubt
talk to your teacher to gain approval.

 For online clips, please email riglietti@acrss.org the link one class period in advance of
your prayer date. No email, no video.

 Be prepared to lead prayer on the date you are assigned.
