What is imaan – who is a believer

Iman means faith. A believer is anyone who believes in the oneness of Allah.

To us Muslims and according to Sahih Muslim

“Abu Huraira reported: one day the messenger of ALLAH (may peace be upon him) appeared before the public that a man
came to him & say: prophet of ALLAH(swt) (tell me) what is Iman. Upon this he (the holy prophet) replied: that you affirm
your faith in ALLAH(swt)his angles, his book, his meeting, his messengers & that you Affirm in the resurrection hereafter.”

What is the different between the prophet & messengers

A prophet is a servant that ALLAH(swt) chooses give him revelation and he act in accordance to the revelation sent to him.

A messenger is a servant who ALLAH(swt)chooses to give him revelation and send him to disbelieving people.

As mentioned by Al-Qurtubee ( may Allah have mercy upon him) “ This is the correct stance, every Messenger is a Prophet,
but every Prophet isn’t a Messenger” [Tafsir 12/45]
