1. PURPOSE.
The purpose of this test procedure is to ensure that the metal seated ball valves manufactured by Ingenieria Especializada
S.A.P.I. de C.V. for Severe Service Technologies will perform in the actual working conditions

2. SCOPE.
All valves manufactured by Ingenieria Especializada S.A.P.I. de C.V. for Severe Service Technologies are affected by this
procedure

3. DEFINITIONS.
N/A

In case of vulcan valves applies the next group of activities.

4. ACTIVITIES DESCRIPTION.
a. Place the valve on the test machine with corresponding lids
b. Circulating the water flow until the vent flow is observed dripping without bubbles.
c. Close the tap drip test dashboard
d. Adjust the pump until the manometer indicates a minimum test pressure of 1.5 times the pressure according to the material
body ASME B16.34 to 38 º C (100 º F) about 25 psi increase.
e. Maintain pressure for at least 180 seconds for the test.
f. Mark in the valve body the letter "S" in the same section of row material and Heat number.

4.1 LOW PRESSURE GAS CLOSURE TEST

4.1.1 With the valve in the open position, connect the gas hose to the upstream side of the valve. Open the gas valve and let it
flow the gas a few seconds thru the valve.
4.1.2 Cycle the valve 10 times.
4.1.3 Close the test valve and regulate the gas pressure to the pressure given in AV-IE-005.
4.1.4 Check body gasket, gland flange and packing for leaks using soap and water mixture.
4.1.5 For period of three minutes, the valve should be inspected for leakage. It is permissible to adjust the gland flange for
leakage. The valve must then be re-tested.
4.1.6 Record leakage results on test certificate.
4.1.7 Any valve with a leakage rate higher than the allowable rate is going to be rejected and needs to be reworked in the
Assembly Area.
4.1.8. If the Test Valve is a preferred direction type (bi-directional) and a seat test is also desired from the opposite direction,
turn the Test Valve around in the test stand and repeat the closure test.

4.2 HYDROSTATIC SHELL TEST

4.2.1 Install test plugs on both ends of the valve. Connect hydrostatic pump with block and bleed valves.
4.2.2 With the test valve bore vertical and the valve in the half-open position, pump the body cavity with distilled water through
the upstream block valve while bleeding through the downstream bleed valve.
4.2.3 Circulate the water thru the valve until no air bubbles are visible at the discharge.
4.2.4 Closed the downstream bleed valve.
4.2.5 Regulate the pump until the shell test gage minimum pressure is 1.5 times the 38°C (100°F) pressure rating of the body
material by ASME B16.34, rounded off to the nearest 25 psi increment.
4.2.6 Hold the pressure for a minimum test time of 60 seconds.

HYDROSTATIC TEST PROCEDURE

4.2.7 ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA

4.2.7.1. No visible leakage through the body gasket(s) and stem packing during the Hydrostatic Shell Test is permitted
during the duration of the shell test.
4.2.8 Sign of conformity by tester and assembly responsible
4.2.9 Record the results in the test certificate.

4.3 HYDROSTATIC CLOSURE TEST

4.3.1 Following the shell test, with the test valve bore vertical and the valve in the half-open position, pump the body cavity with
distilled water through the upstream block valve while bleeding through the downstream bleed valve.
4.3.2 Circulate the water thru the valve until no air bubbles are visible at the discharge.
4.3.3 Cycle the test valve 5 times.
4.3.4 Closed the test valve.
4.3.5 Regulate the pump until the shell test gage minimum pressure is 1.1 times the 38°C (100°F) pressure rating of the body
material by ASME B16.34, rounded off to the nearest 25 psi increment.
4.3.6 Hold the pressure for a minimum test time of 180 seconds.
4.3.7 For period of three minutes, the valve should be inspected for leakage. It is permissible to adjust the gland flange for
leakage. The valve must then be re-tested.
4.3.8 Record leakage results on test certificate.
4.3.9 Any valve with a leakage rate higher than the allowable rate is going to be rejected and needs to be reworked in the
Assembly Area.
4.3.10 If the Test Valve is a preferred direction type (bi-directional) and a seat test is also desired from the opposite direction,
turn the Test Valve around in the test stand and repeat the closure test.
4.3.11 Remove the water from inside the valve.

4.4 LOW PRESSURE GAS CLOSURE TEST

4.4.1 With the valve in the open position, connect the gas hose to the upstream side of the valve. Open the gas valve and let it
flow the gas a few seconds thru the valve.
4.4.2 Cycle the valve 5 times.
4.4.3 Close the test valve and regulate the gas pressure to the pressure given in AV-IE-007.
4.4.4 Check body gasket, gland flange and packing for leaks using soap and water mixture.
4.4.5 For period of three minutes, the valve should be inspected for leakage. It is permissible to adjust the gland flange for
leakage. The valve must then be re-tested.
4.4.6 Record leakage results on test certificate.
4.4.7 Any valve with a leakage rate higher than the allowable rate is going to be rejected and needs to be reworked in the
Assembly Area.
4.4.8 If the Test Valve is a preferred direction type (bi-directional) and a seat test is also desired from the opposite direction,
turn the Test Valve around in the test stand and repeat the closure test.
