A Career in Endodontist

Abigail, a senior in high school, recently got in a traumatic car accident involving

a drunk driver. Abigail got knocked unconscious and someone called the police. Before

the police arrived Abigail woke up and noticed everything destroyed in her car. She had

raging pain all over her body and saw blood everywhere. Abigail felt her face and noticed

that a couple of her teeth cracked and her lip busted open. As the airbag deflated, she

took a second to realize how lucky she seemed that she survived.

The police and medics arrived at the scene and examined Abigail. The medics

rushed Abigail to the hospital. After she got there the doctors took x-rays and gave her an

IV. Abigail's x rays came back and she broke her jaw and fractured her collarbone. The

doctors sent in an endodontist to fix her cracked teeth. The endodontist, proceeded an

emergency surgery so that Abigail could have a fast and healthy recovery. Before the

surgery began he had to examine her teeth. The damaged teeth started to grow an

infection within the cracks.

The root canal of the tooth has completely damaged and it started to decay. The

endodontist started by removing all the scarred tissue between the tooth. Abigail’s
Lawson 2

condition would have created more problems so they did an emergency surgery. Because

of Endodontics new and efficient way of doing dentistry, Abigail could have her healthy

smile back with no damages. The career of Endodontics essentially works in the field of

dentistry, it relieves pain for clients, new technology helps Endodontist work more

efficiently, and the Endodontist aids clients in making the best decision for the client.

The Basics of Endodontics has significantly challenged people. The endodontist

branch of dentistry specializes in nerve tissue and teeth. The difference of the procedure

has based on where they give the surgery. Endodontist specializes in root canals,

decaying teeth, and teeth removal. The rapid development of this profession has

increased. Endodontics had taken off with new technology and skill. A lot of the highly

paid doctors represent endodontist because of the great works and efficient process.

Endodontics works a complicated process for removing decaying root canals and

dead teeth. Before the surgery, have given anesthesia to make your body sleep so that you

can not feel the pain. During the procedure, the doctor cuts inside your gums to find the

root of the problem. If your canal becomes blocked or damaged, the root canal can not

remain in your mouth and needs immediate removal. The doctor will then replace the

damaged root canal with a temporary canal until your tooth grows back a healthy root. A

root canal makes up the root of your tooth with insides known as pulp which causes

tissue that helps stabilize the tooth into the gum.

This article, based off a young woman who wanted to make a difference in a

small town. Julie Strong graduated from Mississippi State and has a Bachelor's degree in

biological science and a doctorate in dental medicine. Julie and her husband wanted to
Lawson 3

move out west ever since they got married. After she graduated college she decided she

wanted to move into a small town so she could start her own practice. Julie and her

husband moved to Butte, Montana. Julie started her own practice and gave this small

mining town dental assistance.

Julie Strong has made a huge impact on people's lives. She started her own

business from the ground up in a place that she thought her and her husband could start

their lives. Julie has made a change in the world by honoring parts of the United States

that need dental assistance. Julie didn't think that her profession would make her a hero

for a small town in Montana. People in the small town of Montana look up to Julie and

her husband because they care about helping others first.

The treatment of endodontics has become the understanding of the anatomy of the

tooth. The endodontics procedure based on the untreated and inflamed or infected root

canal. Root canal treatment, also known as endodontic treatment, the process of removing

infected, injured or dead pulp from your tooth. The space inside the hard layers of each

tooth contains the root canal system.

This system filled with soft dental pulp made up of nerves and blood vessels that

help your tooth grow and develop. With this procedure comes many steps to successfully

perform a treatment. First, the dentist will remove everything that contains the root canal.

The patient becomes put under with anesthesia, the dentist will make a small hole on the

top of the tooth and removes the dead pulp tissue. Next, the dentist will clean, shapes and

decontaminates the hollow area, using a tiny file to make sure everything's taken care of.

Then, the tooths filled with a gel material, using an adhesive to seal the canals
Lawson 4

completely. After root canal therapy, the tooths dead. The patient will no longer feel any

pain in that tooth because the nerve tissues removed, and the infections eliminated.

However, the tooth becomes more fragile than before. A tooth with no pulp must receive

its nourishment from the tooth to the bone.

This supplies decent, the tooth will become more fragile and the crown or filling

will offer protection. Until the crown or filling has completed, the patient should not

chew or bite on the tooth. Once there a crown or filling has completed done, the person

can use the tooth as before. Treatment often takes only one appointment, but some curved

canals, multi-canals, or large infections, this could take one or two more appointments.

Most root canal treatments become successful. But in some rare cases, a second

root canal treatments needed. It's called retreatment. When retreating a tooth, the root

canal filling materials are taken out, and the canals recleaned, reshaped and refilled. After

a root canal treatment, your tooth has become restored to look, feel and work as much

like a natural tooth as possible.

If an endodontist performed your root canal treatment, he or she will fill the

opening of the tooth with a temporary filling and send you back to your dentist for a tooth

checkup. Sometimes patients may have no symptoms when they have decaying teeth.

Patients with pain in the mouth that don't get it checked out can have major problems in

the future. The swelling of the tooth can move down into your neck and chest.

When bacteria enter your tooth through deep cavities, cracks or flawed fillings,

your tooth can become abscessed. An abscessed tooth, a tooth with an infection in the

pulp. If pulp becomes infected, removed if needed. An abscessed tooth may cause pain or
Lawson 5

swelling. If you go to a dentist they may notice the infection from a dental x-ray or from

other changes with the tooth. If left untreated, an abscessed tooth can cause serious oral

health problems.

The new discovery of dental pulp stem cells has given the endodontist a better

understanding of how to heal immature teeth. Regenerative stem cells become apart of

endodontics, the field of dentistry that develops things used in the new technology.

Endodontists cut apart using cutting edge technology by improving the knowledge of the

field by using engineering. The prime goal developments provide the new future of

regenerative endodontics.

The Technology of Endodontics has rapidly increased as time moves forward.

The Henry Schein Companies the largest healthcare supplier in the world. The Henry

Schein Company donates to charities to help start practices around the world as well as

supplying their own customers. “Henry Schein is pleased to support the Foundation for

Endodontics, whose commitment to enhancing the oral health of people in need so

closely mirrors our own,” (Henry).

The charities support more pediatric needs so the children in third world countries

can have the same medical needs as pediatrics in the United States. This article, about the

Turkish endodontist community that creates a serve about two different x-ray machines

used for the same task. The researchers send out a questionnaire to see which endodontist

practices prefer the digital radiological imaging (DRI) or the cone-beam computed

tomography (CBCT).

Researchers that helped develop the digital radiological imaging (DRI) have done
Lawson 6

a questionnaire on recent practices in North America that use this machine. The results

show that only 5% of the practices in North America use the DRI. This information tells

the researchers that the CBCT machine has a more popular and more efficient work

environment. 150 questionnaires sent out to practices all around North America for a

study.

According to Yalcinkay in the Nigerian Journal of Clinical Practice “Researchers

have investigated the use of digital radiological imaging (DRI) in various countries. In

2000, it was estimated that 5% of dental practitioners in North America used digital

radiography in their practice. A total of 150 questionnaires distributed.”. The

questionnaires developed based on previous studies.

What does it take to become an Endodontist? Endodontics, a profession that

requires a lot of commits and hard work. This specific work field requires a lot of

schooling and time to learn the required courses in order to pursue this career. “What sets

Dr. Jason A. Cohen’s Dental Practice apart from others is that at his office they are

committed to Treating Your Family Like Family.”(Best).

“The American Board of Prosthodontics awarded tire most prestigious award in

the field to Dr. Siranli” (Best). Oral surgeons specialize in treating infections, and

diseases that may occur in your mouth, head, and neck. Oral surgeons do not focus on

just mouth cases, they remove any kind of scheduled infection to become removed from

their comfort zone. The jobs valued in the middle of both of those professions can

consider as an endodontist, they remove and replace the infection within the mouth.

This article consists of different job professions that any person should look at if
Lawson 7

thinking about the medical field. The Job descriptions have a short idea of what you

should look for. “Our program will focus on future trends and growth to help

practitioners prepare for the next generation of advancements in the art and science of

endodontics.”(Join). Patients will physically determine the advantages and disadvantages

of a root canal surgery. Some advantages can help your dental health for a lifetime, such

as replacing damaged teeth and learning the right dental routines. Disadvantages can also

occur if you proceed to not check up with your regular dentist.

Patients become aware that teeth will weaken before and after surgery. This

article explains endodontists around the world meet in Washington State at a convention

center on May 6-9 every year to discuss important and newly formed products that could

take place in their practices at home. They use these studies for research and development

to improve their treatments and equipment used to perform surgeries. Endodontist travels

around the world to attend this convention because of the highly discussed products and

procedures.

Some products that introduce from this convention can include easy to use

registration software. The fast working CT machines that can show your dental or facial

x-rays became the most popular product at the convention. Cosmetic dentist focuses more

on the look, shape, size, and color of your mouth, teeth, or gums. Oral surgeons

specialize in treating infections, and diseases that may occur in your mouth, head, and

neck. Oral surgeons remove any kind of infection scheduled for removal. The Job that's

in the middle of both of those professions an endodontist, they remove and replace the

infection within the mouth.

This article, written based on a 26-year-old woman, she had pain around her

molars as they grew in. She went for a checkup and foods lodged between the growing

tooth and the attached skin. She planned to get surgery to remove the tooth but the tooth

did not become the problem. The doctor cut the skin away from the tooth that originally

caused the infection because it had not attached to the gum. The root canals then

diagnosed and the rotten canals removed then cleaned out to prepare the tooth to properly

grow in.

That article explains a real-life case where anybody can suffer from a decaying

root canal. This woman can help readers realize that anyone requires a visit to an

endodontist. The article describes a good way of telling people that it can happen to

anybody. A woman in her late 20’s and never thought she would’ve needed to visit an

endodontist.

Dr. Allan Sandor works as a full-time endodontist in Jacksonville, Florida. He

takes advantage of the new technology, to perform complex root canals. The majority of

patients with cracked teeth will have their teeth removed, Dr. Sandor loves his job and

has accomplished a lot to get there today. He completed an undergraduate program at the

University of Florida and later received his dental degree from Marquette University. Dr.

Sandor became a dental officer in the United States Navy and completed one year worth

of general dentistry at the marine corp recruit on Parris Island, South Carolina.

Three-Dimensional Cell Printing has become a new way to replace pulp and

tissue by using a printing technique. This technique creates the correct amount of tissue

and tooth pulp that your mouth may require. Imagine a printer actually printing out layers
Lawson 9

of a cell that very well could help you recreate the structure of your injured gums, teeth,

and tissues. The products worked on for countless hours and acknowledged for successful

tissue engineering.

Postnatal Stem Cell Therapist the easiest way to disinfect an open wound by

injecting postnatal stem cell into the root canal systems. The tissues, attached skin, and

fat all disinfect naturally but sometimes it's not enough to prevent another infection

within the open wound. Having an open wound while continuing the daily life becomes

dangerous, any virus or bacteria could corrupt the healing process and cause the recovery

to become much worse. The healing process has taken very seriously since the surgeries

expensive and painful. All surgeries should have close to the same healing process which

will require all patients to drink fluids and take the medications given.

Root canal offers good advantages to patients who have tooth infections. Once an

infection has reached the root of a tooth, it places the tooth at risk if they can’t perform

the treatment. If patients lose their teeth, they will start to have complications, including

jaw bone resorption, loss of looks, increased risks of tooth decay and gum disease. Root

canal immediately removes the pain of the root infection, it helps guard teeth against

future infections.

The primary goal has the eliminated the symptoms and the evidence of the bad

infection. A secondary goal includes increasing the root wall thickness. A tertiary goal

has a positive response to vitality testing. Histologic confirmation of dental pulp with an

intact odontoblastic layer and restoration of a functional pulp, the pinnacle of

regenerative treatment goals.

Lawson 10

The main goal of root canal treatment, the prevention or treat growing infections.

For the treatment of immature permanent teeth, the goals to restore the original

physiologic structures and functions of the pulp-dentin complex. However, treating

necrotic immature teeth has clinical challenges for several reasons. Conventional root

canal treatment, difficult to achieve an appropriate apical seal with an open apex.

Pulp stem cells must become organized into a 3D structure that can support cell

organization and vascularization to create a more practical endodontic tissue engineering

therapy. People accomplish this by using a porous polymer scaffold seeded with pulp

stem cells. The scaffold must contain certain growth factors for the proliferation and

differentiation of stem cell, which might lead to improved and faster tissue development.

The career of Endodontics essentially works in the field of dentistry, it relieves

pain for clients, new technology helps Endodontist work more efficiently, and the

Endodontist aids clients in making the best decision for the client. The new technology of

endodontist have overcome helping large amounts of people around the world become

successful in the work they proceed. This allows them to succeed and treat patients with

the most prestigious training.
