REGIONAL MATHEMATICAL INVESTIGATION (MI) COMPETITION
Schools Division Superintendents e
1, The Department of Education Region VI through the Curriculum, Learning and
Management Division in cooperation with Hoilo National High School will conduct the
‘Three-Day Regional Mathematical Investigation (MI) Competition at Hoilo National
High School, La Paz, lloilo City on Jan. 26-28, 2017.
2. The competition aims to:
a. provide opportunities for student investigators to present th

b. develop student’s mathematical thinking processes and good mental habits;
¢. transform students’ view of mathematics as a growing and dynamic body of
knowledge; and
d. promote a friendly competition among student investigators.

Participants to this competition are public and private Junior and Senior High School
students, MI advisers, principals, and education program supervisors. Each division
shall send their best/top three contestants for individual category and bestitop three
groups for team category with their respective advisers. The entries to this competition
are composed of two clusters namely:
Cluster 1 — Schools offering Regular Curriculum (for both individual and
team categories); and
Cluster 2 ~ Schools offering Special Seience Curriculum (for both individual and
team categories),
4, Participating Divisions are advised to submit the Pre-Registration Form together with
the four (4) copies of write-ups to the Regional Office on or before January 6, 2017,

Duran St,, Hoilo City5. A registration fee of One Thousand Pesos (PhP 1,000.00) will be collected from each
participant to cover expenses for food (3 snacks and 2 lunches), contest materials,
certificates, medals, honoraria of the judges, and other incidental expenses. There will
be NO lodging provision for participants.
6, Attendance of public school participants is on official business and shall be subject to
the no disruption of classes policy as stipulated in DepEd Order No. 9, s. 2005 entitled
Instituting Measures to Increase Engaged Time on Task and Ensuring Compliance
Therewith. Travel expenses, per diem, and registration fee of the participants shall be
charged against LOCAL FUNDS subject to the usual accounting and auditing rules and
regulations.
7. Divisions without entries/contestants are advised to send representatives (students,
future MI advisers, principals, distriet supervisors and division program supervisor/s)
as observers.
8. All teacher-advisers and non-teaching personnel involved in the conduct of this activity
which fall on Saturday are entitled to a Compensatory Overtime Credit (COC).
