TOPIC: Information Reports
PRIOR KNOWLEDGE: information report structure, animal for information report already chosen and students have already begun research
on their animal.

LEARNING INTENTION
To explore what makes a good introduction in an information report.
To continue research and begin draft for information report.

SPECIFIC LEARNING OUTCOMES:


 Locate and interpret information needed for information report.
 Begin to use text structure to complete information report- whilst using technical language required.

Engage:
What am I? 2 minutes
I originate from Africa.
I live in a herd, on the open plains.
I am a ruminant: which means that I acquire my nutrients from plant-
based food only by fermenting it in my stomach.
I have a distinctive pattern on my coat.
I am prey for animals like lions, leopards and spotted hyenas.
I have an adaptation which allows me to reach my food.
There is only one species of me left, the other 7 are extinct.

Introduction: 5- 10 minutes
Discuss due date: Thursday 20th Sept
How to write an introduction for your information report. Youtube video: Information report writing for kids-episode 4- writing
Go through examples: discuss whether students think they are a an introduction.
good example or not- why? Students use their rubric to guide their
responses.

Development: 30 minutes
Students to begin research for their report.
Teacher to go through responsible use of the internet for research Differentiation:
in guidelines with school policy. Structured report outline for following students:
