CSEC INSTRUCTIONS FOR PRIVATE CANDIDATES (NATIONALS AND NON-NATIONALS)

The following instructions must be strictly observed. Entry forms which are not completed in accordance
with these instructions will NOT be accepted.

ENRTY FORMS
Forms are available for Nationals: Private Candidates (CSEC) May/June 2019 and Non-Nationals:
Private Candidates (CSEC) May/June 2019 on our website www.moe.gov.tt. Forms will ONLY be
available on our website, forms will NOT be available at any of our offices or registration venues.
Download the Entry Form and Deposit Vouchers from this website.

TO COMPLETE YOUR REGISTRATION YOU WILL NEED:-


 The completed Entry Form in DUPLICATE.
 Three (3) self-addressed envelopes (25cm x 30cm) or four (4) self-addressed envelopes for
candidates doing Spanish / French /Biology / Chemistry / Integrated Science / Physics. The stamps
($2.00) must be affixed to each except one envelope. This last envelope will be used for the
mailing of the certificate for which a courier mail sticker ($23.00) must be purchased from a
TTPOST outlet (listed on last page of the instructions). Candidates must note that they should
not write on the courier mail sticker.
 A copy of the June 2018 result slip (if a RESIT in a subject is offered).
 The ORIGINAL and one copy of the following:
o Electronic Birth Certificate (with affidavit, where applicable).
o Valid ID Picture Identification.
o The official receipt for the fees deposited where applicable (Originals will be returned)
 A recent (last six months) passport-size photo.
 Candidate registering for Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Integrated Science who are not re-sit
candidates must note that the 3/2 Paper is a practical examination, therefore, such candidates
must provide proof that they are attending classes and are using lab facilities at the institution or
have had such experience within the last two (2) years.
COMPLETION OF ENTRY FORMS
 For NEW Candidates, the name written on the Entry Form must be the same indicated on the birth
certificate.
 For other Candidates, the name written on the Entry Form must be the same as that on past
CSEC/CAPE certificates or preliminary results slip
 Insert the number of a VALID form of picture identification to be used in the examination room,
either: your Identification Card, Driver’s Permit or Passport in addition to your Birth Certificate
Pin number (Nationals only). (The Driver’s Permit will ONLY be accepted if accompanied by an
original Birth Certificate or proof of nationality at the time of registration.)
 Staple on a recent passport-sized photograph in the space provided to one copy of the application
form. Please print your name at the back of your photograph.
 When entering subjects, one (1) subject must be entered per row.
 If a RESIT of a SBA is offered, and candidate is eligible, please attach a copy of the June 2018
preliminary results slip.
 Candidates registering for Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Integrated Science who are not re-sit
candidates must attach a letter indicating that they have experience using lab facilities.
 Candidates are advised to retain the copy of the entry form, as this is proof of registration to write
the CSEC Examination.

REGISTRATION DATES AND VENUES


Registration will take place during the period Tuesday 25th September, 2018 to Monday 1st October, 2018
at the following venues:-
 Ministry of Education, Head Office, St. Vincent Street, Port of Spain
 St. Augustine Secondary School, Gordon & Warren Streets, St. Augustine
 Guaico Secondary School Turure Road Guaico
 Couva West Secondary School (Old Facility), Balisier Road, Couva
 Marabella South Secondary (Old Facility), Cor. Tagore Ave. & Gopaul Lands, Marabella
 Siparia West Secondary School, La Brea Trace, Erin Road, Siparia
 Princes Town West Secondary School, St. Julien Village, Princes Town
 Division of Education, Innovation & Energy, Dutch Fort, Scarborough, Tobago

Late registration (Candidates will have to pay the late fee) will take place on Tuesday 2nd October, 2018
and Wednesday 3rd October, 2018 at all venues.

Candidates must choose one (1) of the following to indicate the area in which they wish to write the

The Ministry reserves the right to allocate candidates to centres for the examinations.
Your official timetable will indicate your Examination Centre Number. The address of your centre will be
issued with your timetable.
SUBJECT LISTING
Candidates are advised to view the timetable at ‘http://www.cxc.org/examinations/csec/timetables’
when selecting their subjects. Clashes will NOT be accommodated.

The General Proficiency CSEC 2019 subjects for which candidates may enter are:
Biology Chemistry English A
English B Human & Social Biology French
Mathematics Office Administration Physics
Principles of Accounts Principles of Business Social Studies
Spanish Economics Additional Mathematics
Caribbean History Geography Integrated Science

Candidates who register for English A Paper 3/2 and English B Paper 3/2 during the same sitting will be
required to write only one examination since both papers will be offered as a common examination.

Tick one or more of the columns associated with that subject.


REPEAT column: For Candidates who will have written that subject previously.
RESIT column: For Candidates who are eligible. (i.e. 50% or more of the total
moderated SBA marks in the MAY/JUNE 2018 examinations). The 2018
CSEC Registration number must be given.
ALTERNATE column: For NEW Candidates or Candidates who cannot re-use an SBA
SELF-TUTORED column: For Candidates who have been self-tutored for that subject

FEES
 ALL NON-NATIONALS are required to pay the stipulated fees given by CXC and ALL other local
administrative fees.

 ALL PERSONS who register after Monday 1st October, 2018 will be charged a non-refundable late
entry fee of one hundred and sixty-two dollars (TT$162.00).

 For ALL NATIONALS, registration for ALL CXC subjects is FREE, that is, the subject fee, entry fee,
and all administrative fees are waived, subject to the conditions listed below.
CONDITIONS FOR FREE REGISTRATION
o From January 2010 examinations each candidate is entitled to two (2) free opportunities to
register as a private candidate at each examination (CSEC and CAPE) in either January or
May/June where applicable.

o Candidates registered as full-time students in a Secondary School will not use any of these
attempts unless he/she signs up as a private candidate.

o Once the two (2) free opportunities have been utilized, the candidates must pay the Entry and
Subject Fees as well as any other associated fees.

 Fees payable are set out at the Fees section of the Entry Forms. No cash, cheque or money order
will be accepted with the application form. Cash deposits can be made at any one of the following
Offices: - Any District Revenue Office in Trinidad
Administration Building, Tobago.
The Deposit Vouchers supplied with this circular must be used when the fees are being paid as follows:
FORM CA: Head: 07/01/ED1/013 - Examination Fees - Entry and Subject Fees
FORM CB: Head: 07/01/ED1/004 - External Examinations - Local Fees for Candidates

REFUNDS: Request for refunds WILL NOT be entertained after four (4) weeks following the completion of
the registration. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THE ADMINISTRATION AND ADDITIONAL FEES ARE NON-
REFUNDABLE.

WITHDRAWALS: Applications for complete withdrawals, subject withdrawals, and subject changes will be
considered up to Friday 23rd November, 2018.

DECLARATION
The CXC database indicates any past attempts at the January and May/June Examinations. Any
inconsistency with the data supplied will result in the application not being considered.

DATES OF THE EXAMINATIONS AND ISSUE OF TIMETABLE


 The written examinations are expected to begin on Monday 6th May, 2019.

 The official timetable giving the Centre and Candidate Number will be posted to candidates during
the last week of March, 2019. If you do not receive your timetable by 19th April 2019, you should
check CXC’s student portal at “ors.cxc.org/studentportal” where a copy can be obtained.
Additionally, you may contact the Supervisor of Examinations, Ministry of Education, Examinations
Unit, Tower A, 5 St. Vincent Street, Port of Spain.

 Candidates registering for French and Spanish must note that the Orals will be held during the
period 15th to 30th April, 2019. If no notification is received by 8th April 2019, you must contact
the Examinations Unit for the time and venue.

 Candidates MUST check ONLINE for the accuracy of their registration during the period 10th
December to 14th December, 2018 using the website “ors.cxc.org/studentportal”. You will be
required to enter a Birth Certificate PIN Number, Surname, Date of Birth and Select 2018
May/June CSEC. Any inaccuracies must be reported to the Supervisor of Examinations, Ministry of
Education, Examinations Section, Tower A, 5 St. Vincent Street, Port of Spain no later than 14th
December, 2018.

 Candidates should immediately notify the Supervisor of Examinations of any change of address and
should submit envelopes with the new address.

It should be noted that the penalties for impersonation in the examinations are severe. A candidate who
allows himself/herself to be impersonated, is disqualified completely from any examination for which
he/she is entered and debarred from the Council’s examinations for two (2) years. Further, legal action may
be taken against both candidate and impersonator for the protection of the integrity of the CXC
examinations.
