The Utah Democratic Party and Salt Lake County Democratic Party are writing regarding three

possible violations of Salt Lake County Campaign Finance Laws by candidate Nathan Evershed
for District Attorney.

Statute 2.72A.104 section E states: Contribution Caps. No donor shall make contributions to a
county candidate in excess of six thousand dollars during the three election cycles defined
in Section 2.72A.101.

Statute 2.72A.101 states: "Election cycle" means:

1.The period following the general election but prior to the next political convention in any
year in which the candidate has filed to run for county elected office;

2. The period following a political convention but prior to the primary election in any year in
which the candidate has filed to run for county elected office;

3. The period following a primary election but prior to a general election in any year in which
the candidate has filed to run for county elected office.

Contributions of $6,0000 from three individual donors were received on the following dates:

October 20, 1017

-Roger Evershed: $6,000
-Paula Evershed: $6,000
-Rocky Mountain Engineering $6,000

April 20, 2018

-Roger Evershed: $6,000
-Paula Evershed: $6,000
-Rocky Mountain Engineering $6,000

July 10, 2018

-Roger Evershed: $6,000
-Paula Evershed: $6,000

July 20, 2018

-Rocky Mountain Engineering $6,000

Based on these donations, the candidate has received at least three donations (two on July 10,
2018 and one on July 20, 2018) from three separate donors in apparent violation of the code
because those same three donors had already donated $6,000 within the three defined
election cycles, on April 20, 2018. There are three additional donations immediately before the
prior general election, highlighting the "election cycle" definition was understood. These
violations demand action, and we respectfully request that the campaign finance requirements
be enforced. It is particularly troubling that these violations have occurred by a candidate who,
if elected, would be charged with a critically important law enforcement function, highlighting
that swift redress for these violations is appropriate.

Thank you for your time and diligence on this matter. Let us know if you have any further
concerns or question or if more information is needed.

Sincerely,

Utah Democratic Party and Salt Lake County Democratic Party
