Tens Go Fish

Materials: Deck of Number Cards (2 – 10), Aces will = 1.

You will need to pull out all the face cards (jack, queen, king).

Players : 2 to 3

How to Play

The object of the game is to get 2 cards that total 10.

1. Each player is dealt 5 cards. The rest of the cards are placed face down in the center of
the table.
2. If you have any pairs of cards that equal a total of 10 (or a single card of 10), put them
down in front of you and replace those cards with others from the deck.
3. Take turns. On a turn, ask one specific player for a card that will go with a card in your hand
that will make 10.

If you get a card that makes 10, recite the math fact and then put the pair of cards
down. Get one card from the deck and your turn is over.

If that player does not have the card needed to make the total of 10, they will say
“Go Fish” and you need to take the top card from the pile.

If the card that is picked from the deck makes 10 with another card in your hand,
put the pair down and take one card from the deck.

If there are no cards left in your hand, but still cards in the deck, take 2 cards.

The game is over when there are no more cards.

To encourage “Math Talk” at the end of game, be sure to repeat the combination pairs that
equal 10. Ex. 6 + 4 = 10
