HALLOWEEN
HALLOWEEN is a very popular American and English party. It is
celebrated on October 31. The Druid priests of ancient Britain believed
that witches, demons and spirits of dead people roamed on the eve of
November 1.

To protect themselves from bad spirits, the Druids offered them things
to eat and disguised themselves with masks, so from bad spirits would
not harm them.

The origin of the name Halloween

The Catholic Church designated the first day of November to honor All
Saints or All Hallows. The night before All Saints Day was called All
Hallows Even. The expressions All Hallows Even was reduced to
Halloween.

Nowadays…

On the evening of October 31 you may hear some people knocking on

your door. When you open the door, what do you see? A group of
children dressed as ghosts and witches, holding a bag and say:

- Trick or treat!
