1. Use one adverb of frequency to fill in the gaps in the following sentences. (1.5)
a. Carolyn is not a very fun person. She is in a good mood.
b. Robert never goes to the gym on weekends but he works out
during the week. He never misses a weekday!
c. Jane doesn’t like cooking very much and has her meals at
restaurants. She only cooks in emergencies!
d. My father drives to work but this week he has decided to use the subway.
e. Tom is not keen on shopping malls. He goes to one when he needs
clothes, though.
f. We watch football matches at stadiums. We prefer to see them on
a 60-inch TV.
g. Henry has a piece of cake at school on Fridays. The students are
allowed to bring sweets on Fridays.
h. Mildred is an outstanding student: she studies hard all the time and
goes to classes.
2. Complete the wish sentences below conjugating the verbs in parentheses. (1.5)
a. Mary wishes she (to have) more time to work out, but she doesn’t
and is putting on weight.
b. Bob crashed his father’s car and wishes he (to drink) so much at
the party last Saturday.
c. I wish Dean (to stop; to smoke) in our bedroom, but I don’t think he will.
d. Because of the bad grade in Physics, Carol now wishes she (to study) more.
e. Mom wishes dad (to notice) her more, but he is very absentminded.
f. I really wish tomorrow (to be) Saturday, so I could sleep until midday.
3. Use the cues below to form complete sentences. You will need to provide what is missing, and conjugate
verbs, if necessary. You cannot change the order of words. (1.5)
