Cherokee Star Constellation - Prophecy of the Rattlesnake

The Stars above and its configurations hold TIME UNTIME within its grasp
upon all life. As all cultures sustain a Zodiac system written upon Time
Untime so also the Chickamaugan Cherokee of the Americas hold also an
Ancient Zodiac of the heavens.

Within the Zodiac of the Heavens of the Chickamauga Cherokee are etched
Ancient designs written upon and within the lines of seeing. The Cherokee
Zodiac is alive and moves and spins upon the rings of TIME UNTIME. As the
main outline remains its hold and is stationed in the sky of stars its
movement within that frozen outline does indeed change with the movements
of the other elements. Elements within the rotations planets, stars, and
bodies of the heavens. As other cultures station their Zodiac as a permanent
fixture the Cherokee Zodiac morphs or changes and becomes as if ALIVE.
Always Alive, breaths, lives, and takes upon each constellation its own
deeming of things, Time, Untime, and among those things, Prophecy.

The Constellations of the Chickamaugan Cherokee are 13 fold which contain

the characterizations of mainly animals. Among the many design
configurations seen written upon the stars are the designs of animals,
objects, and many other elements of TIME UNTIME. The figures of the sky
are totally different from other cultures of the Zodiac except for a rare
few which seem to be similar. The only one which seems to relative to
similarity is found within the Cherokee Constellation Scorpion and Snake and
this in relation to others as Scorpio and Serpent.

This is the story of only one of those constellations. This is of the Cherokee
Constellation Rattlesnake. And within this one Constellation is found a
PROPHECY. Within the Rattlesnake of the Heavens is found TIME UNTIME
foretold since the dawn of TIME.

In the sky is found the figure of a Snake. And upon this snake it is the
outline of a Rattlesnake. Sometimes the Serpent and the Rattlesnake take
on its bearing of one or the other but the Snake of the Rattlesnake is ITS
design.
The Cherokee Rattlesnake Constellation is not like other cultures of the
world. The Cherokee Rattlesnake in the Heavens has a head and winds itself
back and forth with its body as in sidewinding itself to its tail. The boundary
of the Rattlesnake is unlike the boundaries of other Zodiac cultures. In the
Heavens the Pleiades Star System is found as the tip of the Rattlesnake
tail.

The Rattlesnake of the Cherokee is very sacred and its sacredness is

written even in the Heavens. Upon the mouth of the Rattlesnake is found 52
scales. These scales in number of 52 is written upon the Calendar of the
Cherokee and upon the wheels and rings of TIME UNTIME. The Calendar of
the Cherokee spins upon wheels and rings as a sophisticated dating system. A
dating system that not only tells TIME of events, people, places, and things
but also a very holy and sacred element within the Cherokee culture itself of
ALL THINGS.

The Rattlesnake can sometimes be imaged as a serpent. To be a Serpent or

to be the Rattlesnake depends on the knowing of the TIMES and TIMES of
TIME UNTIME. To know the culture of the Cherokee and its Ancient design
upon LIFE. One MUST know the things of TIME UNTIME in order to place
the constellation as a Rattlesnake or a Serpent. But this is another story.

The stationary outline is always of the Rattlesnake. However upon the

wheels of the Cherokee calendar is also found when where how what who in
its changing and transformation. The transformation is not the changing of
the shape of the Rattlesnake but the addition or subtraction of elements
upon the snake itself. These things also tell the tales of the universe and all
its bearing of what was, what is, and to be.

On the Cherokee Calendar a great thing is foretold of things about to take

shape within all things upon the earth, the heavens, and the universe. And
the Rattlesnake Constellation is one of those which speaks as a voice of
TIME UNTIME of things to be.

Upon the Cherokee Calendar Rings and written in the Star Constellation
Rattlesnake is a prophecy of TIME UNTIME.
And so it is thus foretold ....

When the Earth sees the fingers of Spearfinger strike Jupiter, when the
ages of the Rings and wheels tell it is the ending of the ages of cycles of 5,
this will be the sign for the whole earth, for all the earth will see this thing,
to wake up from sleep. These fingers that stuck Jupiter was the comet
fragments that hit Jupiter in the 1990s and the whole earth took of is
majesty. This was the sign foretold on the Calendar for the Cherokee people
to WAKE UP to come out of sleep.

The Cherokee Calendar also speaks its voice telling that at this time of the
fingers striking Jupiter that Orion Star System will awaken. And the
Pleiades and Orion will war once again as in old. Jupiter and Venus will awaken
to its destiny of TIME UNTIME of cycles. Orion will WAR with Pleadies,
Jupiter will WAR with Venus. The time of the Cherokee UKU's will be at
hand.

In the year 2004 and 2012 an alignment will take place both on the Cherokee
Calendar and in the heavens of the Rattlesnake Constellation both. It is the
time of the doublehead serpent stick. It is the time of the Red of Orion and
Jupiter against White Blue of Pleadies and Venus. It is the time of the
Uku's choosing. It is the time of the Beloved Woman and MYSTERIES OF
TIME UNTIME. It is the Time Untime of the THUNDERBOLT and the
spirits of Lightning Mountains.

In the year 2004 and 2012 the Cherokee Rattlesnake Constellation will take
on a different configuration. The Snake itself will remain, however, upon the
Rattlesnake shall be added upon its head feathers, its eyes will open and
glow, wings spring forth as a winged Rattlesnake, it shall have hands and
arms and in its hands shall be found a bowl. The bowl will hold blood. Upon its
tail of 7 rattles shall be the glowing and movement of Pleiades.

The Rattlesnake shall become a FEATHERED RATTLESNAKE or

FEATHERED SERPENT of TIME UNTIME.

And upon the Rattlesnake is also the Milky Way. A crossing of the Milky Way
shall be seen at these times.
For the center of the Universe is what many know as the Constellation
Sagittarius by modern man. But upon this constellation of is also found the
Pleiades Star system which is what is different in the boundary of others
and the Cherokee Zodiac.

The Milky Way is ALSO a Tree ... STONE TREE. And upon Stone Tree is as a
Tree with a tree trunk, branches, a top, and even roots. The Flower and the
Tree is also a tassel as corn. And upon the flower and the tree is the TREE
OF LIFE. REBIRTH, RENEWAL, NEW.

And the Cherokee Calendar shall end in the year 2012. But upon the times
just prior shall be the Feathered Serpent and its prophecy.

Upon the Heavens design, within the Cherokee Rattlesnake Constellation, it

is written. And upon the Rings of TIME UNTIME of the Cherokee Calendar
it also says BEHOLD RATTLESNAKE CONSTELATION. And Remember.

The Rings of the Cherokee Calendar are read by the winding motion of the
Rattlesnake. To Add or to subtract TIME UNTIME. To MOVE the Wheels
backward or forward, to add a wheel to move the rings, to tell the tale what
was, what is, and to be. The Rattlesnake and it design tells the movement of
the RINGS OF TIME.

And in the sky heavens the motions of the movement of stars, planets, and
life tell the tale of its bearing. For all is as the winding of the Rattlesnake.
And in the year 2004 the Morning Star shall be first and in the year 2012
the Evening Star shall be first. And upon those years the crown of the
Feathered Serpent shall bear its colors and honor. The hands shall hold the
bowl and the tail shall be as the roots of a Tree, The Pleaides Tree of the
beginning.

And in the Year 2004 and 2012 shall be the TIME UNTIME of the
Feathered Serpent of the Sky Heavens. And the Rings shall turn upon those
years of prophecy foretold on the Rings of TIME UNTIME. And Ywahoo
Falls Kentucky shall sing of Venus and the Feathered Rattlesnake.

For this is not all the prophecy not all the things thereof. For if it was
meant for one to know and I give only part, then you have received a great
gift. For if I tell all and it was not meant for one to know then I have
waisted my breath. For this is a sacred thing, the Venus Alignment and the
Feathered Serpent of the Heavens.

And in the Year 2012 the Cherokee Calendar Ends. And all is reborn. For the
Feathered Rattlsnake comes and shall be seen in the heavens in the year
2004 to 2012.

In the south of the americas ... it is related as the coming of Quetzalcoatl.

The Ancient Cherokee relate it as the coming of the Pale One once again.

The Rattlesnake Constelation shall appear with the Venus Alignment. The
Stars of the Heavens of the Cherokee Zodiac, the Rings of the Calendar,
and The Venus Alignment tell the story of a Chickamaugan Prophecy. For
they all are aligned in the year 2004 to 2012.

Monster With The White Eyes

Handed down as a traditional Cherokee story from grandmother to

grandchild, the storyteller cautions that long ago before the Europeans
discovered Turtle Island and her indigenous people, the elders of those
people warned of the monsters with white eyes yet to come.

Similar stories are to be found among the Aztecs and Mexican people.

The spirits foretold that the monster with white eyes would cross the great
eastern water.

The monster would possess evil and terrifying power, and would wreak
destruction in its path.

The spirits of the animals and trees began to wither.

Prophecy states that Mother Earth herself would be devastated and her
heartbeat would become faint. The monster was said to devour the children
of Turtle Island tribe by tribe, with no escape.
If one did survive, its spirit would be dead since it would now be lost and
have no connection to its ancestors.

The story tells that one day the Earth would begin to sing a death song due
to the severity of the harsh conditions.

When this happens, the children of the people who followed the white-eyed
monster to the island would look into their hearts and realize that they
faced annihilation at the hands of their fathers.

They would find that the spirits of the children of the tribes had been
reborn, waiting to guide the children of the white-eyed monster.

The few keepers of the truth would emerge, becoming strong enough to
overcome the power of the white-eyed monster, restoring Mother Earth
back to health.

The children of the tribes of Turtle Island would lead the people back to
the right way. The races would live in peace, the spirit of the animals and
trees would return to safety, and the monster with white eyes would fail to
exist.

Other such prophecies are to be found in the Cherokee Legend of the White
Snake.

Legend of the Keetoowahs

Cherokee occasionally refer to themselves as Ani-Kituhwagi, (Keetoowah)

'the people of Kituhwagi', after the ancient nucleus city of the Cherokee.
The Legend of the Keetoowahs places the tribe on an island in the Atlantic
Ocean east of South America. Seventy tribes attempted attack on the
Keetoowahs, but the Keetoowah were granted victory through the assistance
of spirit-warriors.

As the story tells us, Ner-du-er-gi, the last warrior of the attackers, was
overlooking the valley camp below, from upon a mountain top, when he saw
smoke arising from the camp that extended up beyond the clouds, divided
into three parts, with an arrow-holding eagle in the center. The warrior and
his followers witnessed this miraculous event. Ner-du-er-gi then ordered his
warriors not to attack the Keetoowahs for they were protected, and if
attacked, the warrior knew he would surely be destroyed.

The Great Spirit granted the Keetoowahs a grand mysterious power to only
be utilized in the best interest of their people. However, some of the wise
people began to use their wisdom for unfruitful purposes. The Great Spirit
instructed them to take their white fire and move away, heading to Asia,
India and North America. Some of the large cities the new travelers claimed
sank into the ocean and were no more.

Legend has it The Great Spirit turned to the peoples of America and guided
them. They too began to violate their teachings by committing murders and
feuding with the seven clans. The seven clans with their medicine men met
around a fire to request guidance from The Great Spirit. The most truthful
seven holy men selflessly gave of themselves for the tribe.

They carried medicine deerskin and medicine tobacco. The medicine men
spread out the deerskin and prayed. They blew smoke over the deerskin, and
watched the smoke trails for a sign from The Great Spirit. Inspiration led
the medicine men to travel up to the top of a mountain, each day one new
medicine man for seven days.

On day seven, a messenger came down from The Great Spirit, appeared in a
bright light, and stated that The Great Spirit heard the prayers of the
medicine men and held passion for their people. First, the men were told
that they would someday fly in the air. The messenger warned of an enemy
white ball from the east traveling their way, but that their grandchildren¹s
feet were facing toward Tsusginai - west - the 'ghost land'.

The messenger warned of trials on the edge of the prairie, with tribes
dividing into different factions and their blood evolving into only half of
their heritage. The messenger forewarned that families would divide and
disregard chiefs, leaders and medicine men. The schools would teach
important knowledge to all the people and the young people would return to
point rudely at the elders.
However, if the younger generation would heed The Great Spirit's
instruction, a chance would exist for the people to turn back east, otherwise
they would go to Tsusginai then to the coast, then leave by boat, never to
return. They were given the 'Keetoowah' namesake and were instructed to
return to their fire for worship, and prophesy to their people.

There was the cycle of the mineral, the rock. There was the cycle of the
plant. And now we are in the cycle of the animal coming to the end of that
and beginning the cycle of the human being. When we get into the cycle of
the human being, the highest and greatest powers that we have will be
released to us.

At the beginning of this cycle of time, long ago, the Great Spirit made an
appearance and gathered the peoples of this earth together, and said to the
human beings. "I'm going to send you to four directions and over time I¹m
going to change you to four colors. I'm going to give you some teachings, and
you will call these the Original Teachings; when you come back together with
each other, you will share these so that you can live and have peace on Earth,
and a great civilization will come about. During the cycle of time, I'm going
to give each of you two stone tablets. When I give you those stone tablets,
don't cast them upon the ground. If any of the sisters and brothers cast
their tablets on the ground, not only will human beings have a hard time, but
almost the earth itself will die."

And so He gave each of us a responsibility, and we call that the Guardianship.

To the Indian people, the red people, He gave the Guardianship of the Earth.
We are to learn during this cycle of time the teachings of the Earth; the
plants that grow from the Earth; the foods that you can eat, and the herbs
that heal. Then, when we came back together with the other sisters and
brothers, we could share this knowledge with them. Something good was to
happen on the Earth.

To the South He gave the yellow race of people the Guardianship of the
Wind. They were to learn about the sky and breathing and how to take that
within ourselves for spiritual advancement. They were to share that with us
at this time.

To the West He gave the black race of people the Guardianship of the
Water. They were to learn the teachings of the water, which is the chief of
the elements, being the most humble and the most powerful. The elders have
told me that the black people would bring the teachings of the water.

To the North He gave the white race of people the Guardianship of the Fire.
If you look at the center of many of the things they do, you will find the
fire. They say a light bulb is the white man's fire. If you look at the center
of a car you will find a spark. If you look at the center of the airplane and
the train you will find the fire. The fire consumes, and also moves. This is
why it was the white sisters and brothers who began to move upon the face
of the earth and reunite us as a human family.

And so a long time passed, and the Great Spirit gave each of the four races
two stone tablets. Ours are kept at the Hopi Reservation in Arizona at Four
Corners Area on Third Mesa. I talked to people from the black race, and
their stone tablets are at the foot of Mount Kenya. They are kept by the
Kukuyu Tribe. I was at an Indian spiritual gathering about 15 years ago.

A medicine man from South Dakota put a beaded medicine wheel in the
middle of the gathering. It had the four colors from the four directions; he
asked the people, "Where is this from?" They said, "Probably Montana, or
South Dakota, maybe Saskatchewan." He said, "This is from Kenya." It was
beaded just like ours, with the same colors.

The stone tablets of the yellow race of people are kept by the Tibetans. If
you went straight through the Hopi Reservation to the other side of the
world, you would come out in Tibet. The Tibetan word for sun is the Hopi
word for moon, and the Hopi word for sun is the Tibetan word for moon.

The guardians of the traditions of the people of Europe are the Swiss. In
Switzerland, they still have a day when each family brings out its mask. They
still know the colors of the families, and they still know the symbols, some of
them. Each of these four peoples happen to live in the mountains.
Each of the four races went to their directions and learned their teachings.
It was in Newsweek not long ago that eight out of ten foods that people eat
on the earth are developed here in the western hemisphere because that is
our Guardianship -- to learn the teachings of the earth and the things that
grow from the Earth. We were given a sacred handshake to demonstrate,
when we came back together as sisters and brothers, that we still remember
the teachings.

It was indicated on the stone tablets that the Hopis had that the first
sisters and brothers who would come back to them would come as turtles
across the land. They would be human beings, but they would come as turtles.
So when the time came close, the Hopis were at a special village to welcome
the turtles that would come across the land.

They got up in the morning and looked out at the sunrise. They looked out
across the desert, and they saw the Spanish conquistadores coming, covered
in armor, like turtles across the land. So this was them. So they went out to
the Spanish man, and they extended their hand, hoping for the handshake.
But into the hand the Spanish man dropped a trinket. And so word spread
throughout North America that there was going to be a hard time, that
maybe some of the brothers and sisters had forgotten the sacredness of all
things and all the human beings were going to suffer for this on the Earth.

So tribes began to send people to the mountains to have visions to try to

figure out how they could survive. At that time there were 100,000 cities in
the Mississippi Valley alone, called the mound civilization: cities built on
great mounds. Those mounds are still there. They began to try to learn to
live off the land because they knew a hard time was going to come. They
began to send people to have visions to see how we could survive this time.
They were told in the prophecies that we should try to remind all the people
that would come here of the sacredness of all things. If we could do that,
then there would be peace on Earth. But if we did not do that, if we had not
come together as a human family, the Great Spirit would grab the earth with
His hand and shake it.

The elders on the west coast prophesied that they would then begin to build
a black ribbon. And on this black ribbon there would move a bug. And when
you begin to see this bug moving on the land, that was the sign for the First
Shaking of the Earth. The First Shaking of the Earth would be so violent
that this bug would be shaken off the earth into the air and it would begin
to move and fly in the air. And by the end of this shaking this bug will be in
the air around the world. Behind it would be a trail of dirt and eventually the
whole sky of the entire earth would become dirty from these trails of dirt,
and this would cause many diseases that would get more and more
complicated. So the bug moving on the land, of course it¹s easy to see now.
In 1908 the Model-T Ford was mass-produced for the first time. So the
elders knew the First Shaking of the Earth was about to come about -- that
was the First World War.

In the First World War the airplane came into wide usage for the first time.
That was that bug moving into the sky. And so they knew something very
important would happen. There would be an attempt to make peace on earth
on the west coast of this land, and so the elders began to watch for this.
They began to hear that there was going to be a League of Nations in San
Francisco, so the elders gathered in Arizona around 1920 or so, and they
wrote a letter to Woodrow Wilson. They asked if the Indian people could be
included in the League of Nations.

The United States Supreme Court had held that a reservation is a separate
and semi-sovereign nation, not a part of the United States but protected by
it. This became a concern because people didn¹t want the reservations to
become more and more separate. They didn¹t want them to be considered
nations. So they did not write back, and the Native people were left out of
the League of Nations so that circle was incomplete. In the League of
Nations circle there was a southern door, the yellow people; there was a
western door, the black people; there was a northern door, the white people;
but the eastern door was not attended. The elders knew that peace would
not come on the Earth until the circle of humanity is complete, until all the
four colors sat in the circle and shared their teachings, then peace would
come on earth.

So they knew things would happen. Things would speed up a little it. There
would be a cobweb built around the earth, and people would talk across this
cobweb. When this talking cobweb, the telephone, was built around the
earth, a sign of life would appear in the east, but it would tilt and bring
death (the swastika of the Nazis). It would come with the sun. But the sun
itself would rise one day, not in the east but in the west (the rising sun of
the Japanese Empire).

So the elders said, "When you see the sun rising in the east, and you see the
sign of life reversed and tilted in the east, you will know that the Great
Death is to come upon the earth. Now is when the Great Spirit will grab the
earth again in His hand and shake it, and this shaking will be worse than the
first."

So the sign of life reversed and tilted, we call that the Swastika, and the
rising sun in the east was the Rising Sun of Japan. These two symbols are
carved in stone in Arizona. When the elders saw these two flags, they knew
that these were the signs that the earth was to be shaken again.

The worse misuse of the Guardianship of the fire is called the gourd of
ashes. They said the gourd of ashes will fall from the air. It will make the
people like blades of grass in the prairie fire, and things will not grow for
many seasons. The atomic bomb, the gourd of ashes, it was the best-kept
secret in the history of the US. The elders wanted to speak about it in 1920.

They would have spoken of it and foretold its coming if they could have
entered into the League of Nations. The elders tried to contact President
Roosevelt to ask him not to use the gourd of ashes because it would have a
great effect on the earth and eventually cause even greater destruction and
a the Third Shaking of the Earth, the Third World War.

So they knew after the Second Shaking of the Earth when they saw the
gourd of ashes fall from the sky, there would be an attempt to make peace
on the other side of this land. And because the peace attempt on the west
coast had failed, they would build a special house on the east coast of this
Turtle Island, and all the nations and peoples of the Earth would come to
this house, and it would be called the House of Mica, and it would shine like
the mica on the desert shines.

So the elders began to see they were building the United Nations made out
of glass that reflects like the mica on the desert so they knew this was the
House of Mica, and all the peoples of the earth should go to it. So they met
and talked about this. They said that in the 1920's they had written and
they had not been responded to, so they said this time we¹d better go to
the front door of the House of Mica because things might get a lot worse.

So elders representing a number of tribes drove to New York City. When

the United Nations opened, they went to the front door of the house of
Mica and they said these words, "We represent the indigenous people of
North America, and we wish to address the nations of the Earth. We're
going to give you four days to consider whether or not we will be allowed to
speak."

They retreated to one of the Six Nations Reserves in New York State. Four
days later they came back, and I believe the nations of the earth heard that
the Indians had come to the door. And they voted to let the Indians in. They
wanted to hear what they had to say. But the United States is one of five
nations of the United Nations with a veto power, and still they were
concerned because this time the Native sovereignty was even stronger. And
I believe they vetoed the entrance of the Native people.

So then they knew other things would happen on the Earth. So they
retreated to the Six Nations Reserve, and they talked about this, and they
said the time is really getting close now -- 1949. They said, "We're going to
divide the United States into four sections, and each year we¹re going to
have a gathering. We¹re going to call these the White Roots of Peace
Gatherings."

They began to have these around 1950. And they authorized certain people
to speak in English for the first time about these prophecies.

One that I used to listen to many times, over and over, was Thomas Banyaca.
He was authorized to speak in English about what was on the stone tablets,
and he has dedicated his life to doing this. And they began to tell us at
these gatherings, "You're going to see a time in your lifetime when the
human beings are going to find the blueprint that makes us."

They call that now DNA, deoxyribonucleic acid. They said, "They're going to
cut this blueprint."
They call that now genetic splicing. And they said they're going to make new
animals upon the Earth, and they're going to think these are going to help us.
And it's going to seem like they do help us. But maybe the grandchildren and
great-grandchildren are going to suffer.

The elders said long ago, "They will release these things, and they will use
them." This is going to be released not too long from now. They are making
new animals. The elders talked about this. "You will see new animals, and even
the old animals will come back, animals that people thought had disappeared.
They will find them here and there. They¹ll begin to reappear."

"You're going to see a time when the eagle will fly its highest in the night,
and it will land upon the moon. And at that time, many of the Native people
will be sleeping, which symbolically means they have lost their teachings.
We're at that time now. The Eagle has landed on the moon, 1969. When that
spaceship landed, they sent back the message, "The Eagle has landed."

Traditionally, Native people from clear up in the Inuit region have shared
with us this prophecy, clear down to the Quechuas in South America.

At this time you're going to see that things will speed up, that people on the
Earth will move faster and faster. Grandchildren will not have time for
grandparents. Parents will not have time for children. It will seem like time
is going faster and faster. The elders advised us that, as things speed up,
you yourself should slow down. The faster things go, the slower you go.
Because there"s going to come a time when the Earth is going to be shaken a
third time. The Great Spirit has shaken the Earth two times: the First and
Second World Wars to remind us that we are a human family, to remind us
that we should have greeted each other as brothers and sisters. We had a
chance after each shaking to come together in a circle that would have
brought peace on earth, but we missed that.

Now they are talking about the sign for the Third Shaking of the Earth.
They said they¹re going to build what the elders called the house in the sky.
In the 1950's they talked about this: they will build a house and throw it in
the sky. When you see people living in the sky on a permanent basis, you will
know the Great Spirit is about to grab the earth, this time not with one
hand, but with both hands.

When this house is in the sky, the Great Spirit is going to shake the Earth a
third time, and whoever dropped that gourd of ashes, upon them it is going
to drop.

They say at that time there will be villages in this land so great that when
you stand in the villages you will not be able to see out, and in the prophecies
these are called villages of stone, or prairies of stone.

And they said the stone will grow up from the ground, and you will not be
able to see beyond the village.

At the center of each and every one of these villages will be Native people,
and they will walk as hollow shells upon a prairie of stone.

They said hollow shells, which means they will have lost any of their
traditional understandings; they will be empty within.

They said that, after the Eagle lands on the moon, some of these people will
begin to leave these prairies of stone and come home and take up some of
the old ways and begin to make themselves reborn, because it¹s a new day.

But many will not.

And they said there's going to come a time when in the morning the sun is
going to rise, and this village of stone will be there, and in the evening there
would just be steam coming from the ground.

They will be as steam. And in the center of many of those villages of stone,
when they turn to steam, the Native people will turn to steam also because
they never woke up and left the village.

They say there¹s going to be the Third Shaking of the Earth. It's not going
to be a good thing to see, but we will survive it. We will survive it.
And when we survive it, there¹s going to be another attempt to make a
circle of the human beings on the earth. And this time the Native people will
not have to petition to join but will be invited to enter the circle because
they say the attitude toward us will have changed by then.

People will let us into the circle, and all the four colors of the four
directions will share their wisdom, and there will be a peace on earth.

This is coming close.

The prophecies are always either/or. We could have come together way back
there in 1565, and we could have had a great civilization, but we didn't.

Always along the path of these prophecies, we could have come together. We
still could. If we could stop the racial and religious disharmony, we would not
have to go through this third shaking.

The elders say the chance of that is pretty slim. It seems to me like it's
pretty slim, too. But they say what we can do is we can cushion it so it won't
be quite as bad. How do we do this? We do this by sharing the teaching that
will reunite us.

An ancient Hopi Indian prophecy states, "When the Blue Star Kachina makes
its appearance in the heavens, the Fifth World will emerge". This will be the
Day of Purification. The Hopi name for the star Sirius is Blue Star Kachina.
It will come when the Saquasohuh (Blue Star) Kachina dances in the plaza
and removes his mask.

The end of all Hopi ceremonialism will come when a "Kachina" removes his
mask during a dance in the plaza before uninitiated children [the general
public]. For a while there will be no more ceremonies, no more faith. Then
Oraibi will be rejuvenated with its faith and ceremonies, marking the start
of a new cycle of Hopi life.

World War III will be started by those peoples who first revealed the light
(the divine wisdom or intelligence) in the other old countries (India, China,
Islamic Nations, Africa.)

The United States will be destroyed, land and people, by atomic bombs and
radioactivity. Only the Hopis and their homeland will be preserved as an
oasis to which refugees will flee. Bomb shelters are a fallacy. "It is only
materialistic people who seek to make shelters. Those who are at peace in
their hearts already are in the great shelter of life. There is no shelter for
evil. Those who take no part in the making of world division by ideology are
ready to resume life in another world, be they Black, White, Red, or Yellow
race. They are all one, brothers."

The war will be "a spiritual conflict with material matters. Material matters
will be destroyed by spiritual beings who will remain to create one world and
one nation under one power, that of the Creator."

That time is not far off. It will come when the Saquasohuh (Blue Star)
Kachina dances in the plaza and removes his mask. He represents a blue star,
far off and yet invisible, which will make its appearance soon. The time is
foretold by a song sung during the Wuwuchim ceremony. It was sung in 1914
just before World War I, and again in 1940 before World War II,
describing the disunity, corruption, and hatred contaminating Hopi rituals,
which were followed by the same evils spreading over the world. This same
song was sung in 1961 during the Wuwuchim ceremony.

The Emergence to the future Fifth World has begun. It is being made by
the humble people of little nations, tribes, and racial minorities. "You can
read this in the earth itself. Plant forms from previous worlds are beginning
to spring up as seeds [as described in SW-II, Effects and Coming Events #
1]. This could start a new study of botany if people were wise enough to read
them. The same kinds of seeds are being planted in the sky as stars. The
same kinds of seeds are being planted in our hearts. All these are the same,
depending how you look at them. That is what makes the Emergence to the
next, Fifth World.

"These comprise the nine most important prophecies of the Hopis, connected
with the creation of the nine worlds: the three previous worlds on which we
lived, the present Fourth World, the three future worlds we have yet to
experience, and the world of Taiowa, the Creator, and his nephew,
Sotuknang."

The Hopi and others who were saved from the Great Flood made a sacred
covenant with the Great Spirit never to turn away from him. He made a set
of sacred stone tablets, called Tiponi, into which he breathed his teachings,
prophecies, and warnings. Before the Great Spirit hid himself again, he
placed before the leaders of the four different racial groups four different
colors and sizes of corn; each was to choose which would be their food in
this world. The Hopi waited until last and picked the smallest ear of corn. At
this, the Great Spirit said:

"It is well done. You have obtained the real corn, for all the others are
imitations in which are hidden seeds of different plants. You have shown me
your intelligence; for this reason I will place in your hands these sacred
stone tablets, Tiponi, symbol of power and authority over all land and life to
guard, protect, and hold in trust for me until I shall return to you in a later
day, for I am the First and I am the Last."

The Great Chieftain of the Bow Clan led the faithful ones to this new land,
but he fell into evil ways. His two sons scolded him for his mistake, and after
he died they assumed the responsibilities of leadership. Each brother was
given a set of Tiponi, and both were instructed to carry them to a place to
which the Great Spirit directed them.

The elder brother [of the shining light] was told to go immediately to the
east, toward the rising sun, and upon reaching his destination to start back
immediately to look for his younger brother, who remained on Turtle Island
[the Continental United States of America].

His mission was to help his younger brother to bring about the Purification
Day, at which time all evildoers would be punished or destroyed, after which
real peace, brotherhood, and everlasting life would be established. The elder
brother would restore all land to his younger brother, from whom the Evil
one among the white men had taken it. The elder brother [of the shining
light] also would come to look for the Tiponi tablets and fulfill the mission
given him by the Great Spirit.

The younger brother was instructed to travel throughout the land and mark
his footsteps as he went about. Both brothers were told that a great white
star would appear in the sky; when that happened, all people would know that
the elder brother had reached his destination. Thereupon all people were to
settle wherever they happened to be at that time, there to remain until the
elder brother returned.

The Hopi settled in the area now known as Four Corners, where the state
lines of Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Colorado meet. They lived in humble
simplicity and the land produced abundant crops. This area is the "heart" of
Turtle Island [the U.S.] and of Mother Earth, and it is the microcosmic
image of the macrocosm of the entire planet. Each Hopi clan perpetuates a
unique ceremony, and the ceremonies together maintain the balance of
natural forces of sunlight, rain and winds, and reaffirm the Hopi respect for
all life and trust in the Great Spirit.

The Hopi were told that after a time White Men would come and take their
land and try to lead the Hopi into evil ways. But in spite of all the pressures
against them, the Hopi were told they must hold to their ancient religion and
their land, though always without violence. If they succeeded, they were
promised that their people and their land would be a center from which the
True Spirit would be reawakened.

It is said that after many years the elder brother might change the color of
his skin, but his hair will remain black. He will have the ability to write, and
he will be the only person able to read the Tiponi. When he returns to find
his younger brother, the Tiponi will be placed side by side to show all the
world that they are true brothers. Then great judgment will take place, for
the elder will help the younger brother to obtain real justice for all Indian
brothers who have been cruelly mistreated by the white man since he came
to Turtle Island.
The transformed elder brother, the True White Brother, will wear a red
cloak or a red cap, similar to the pattern on the back of a horned toad. He
will bring no religion but his own, and will bring with him the Tiponi tablets.
He will be all-powerful; none will be able to stand against him. He will come
swiftly, and in one day gain control of this entire continent. It is said, "If he
comes from the East, the destruction will not be so bad. But if he comes
from the West, do not get up on your housetops to see because he will have
no mercy."

The True White Brother will bring with him two great, intelligent and
powerful helpers, one of whom will have a sign of a swastika (a masculine
symbol of purity), and the sign of the sun. The second great helper will have
the sign of a celtic cross with red lines (representing female life blood)
between the arms of the cross.

When the Great Purification is near, these helpers will shake the earth first
for a short time in preparation. After they shake the earth two times more,
they will be joined by the True White Brother, who will become one with
them and bring the Purification Day to the world. All three will help the
"younger brother" (the Hopi and other pure-hearted people) to make a
better world. In the prophecies, the two helpers are designated by the Hopi
word for "population," as if they were large groups of people.

The Hopi were warned that if these three great beings failed, terrible evil
would befall the world and great numbers of people would be killed. However,
it was said that they would succeed if enough Hopi remained true to the
ancient spirit of their people. The True White Brother and his helpers will
show the people of earth a great new life plan that will lead to everlasting
life. The earth will become new and beautiful again, with an abundance of life
and food. Those who are saved will share everything equally. All races will
intermarry and speak one tongue and be a family.

Hopi prophecy states that World War III will be started by the people who
first received the Light -- China, Palestine, India and Africa. When the war
comes, the United States will be destroyed by "gourds of ashes" which will
fall to the ground, boiling the rivers and burning the earth, where no grass
will grow for many years, and causing a disease that no medicine can cure.
This can only mean nuclear or atomic bombs; no other weapon causes such
effects. Bomb shelters will be useless, for "Those who are at peace in their
hearts already are in the Great Shelter of Life. There is no shelter for evil.
When the Saquahuh (blue Star) Kachina dances in the plaza and removes his
mask, the time of the great trial will be here." The Hopi believe that only
they will be saved.

The Hopi also have prophesied that "Turtle Island could turn over two or
three times and the oceans could join hands and meet the sky." This seems
to be a prophecy of a "pole shift" -- a flipping, of the planet on its axis. The
Hopi call this imminent condition -- and that of society today --
"Koyaanisqatsi", which means "world out of balance...a state of life that calls
for another way. "

The following extraordinary Hopi prophecy was first published in a

mimeographed manuscript that circulated among several Methodist and
Presbyterian churches in 1959. Some of the prophecies were published in
1963 by Frank Waters in The Book of the Hopi. The account begins by
describing how, while driving along a desert highway one hot day in the
summer of 1958, a minister named David Young stopped to offer a ride to an
Indian elder, who accepted with a nod. After riding in silence for several
minutes, the Indian said:

"I am White Feather, a Hopi of the ancient Bear Clan. In my long life I have
traveled through this land, seeking out my brothers, and learning from them
many things full of wisdom. I have followed the sacred paths of my people,
who inhabit the forests and many lakes in the east, the land of ice and long
nights in the north, and the places of holy altars of stone built many years
ago by my brothers' fathers in the south. From all these I have heard the
stories of the past, and the prophecies of the future. Today, many of the
prophecies have turned to stories, and few are left -- the past grows longer,
and the future grows shorter.

"And now White Feather is dying. His sons have all joined his ancestors, and
soon he too shall be with them. But there is no one left, no one to recite and
pass on the ancient wisdom. My people have tired of the old ways -- the
great ceremonies that tell of our origins, of our emergence into the Fourth
World, are almost all abandoned, forgotten, yet even this has been foretold.
The time grows short.
"My people await Pahana, the lost White Brother, [from the stars] as do all
our brothers in the land. He will not be like the white men we know now, who
are cruel and greedy. we were told of their coming long ago. But still we
await Pahana.

"He will bring with him the symbols, and the missing piece of that sacred
tablet now kept by the elders, given to him when he left, that shall identify
him as our True White Brother.

"The Fourth World shall end soon, and the Fifth World will begin. This the
elders everywhere know. The Signs over many years have been fulfilled, and
so few are left.

"This is the First Sign: We are told of the coming of the white-skinned men,
like Pahana, but not living like Pahana men who took the land that was not
theirs. And men who struck their enemies with thunder.

"This is the Second Sign: Our lands will see the coming of spinning wheels
filled with voices. In his youth, my father saw this prophecy come true with
his eyes -- the white men bringing their families in wagons across the
prairies."

"This is the Third Sign: A strange beast like a buffalo but with great long
horns, will overrun the land in large numbers. These White Feather saw with
his eyes -- the coming of the white men's cattle."

"This is the Fourth Sign: The land will be crossed by snakes of iron."

"This is the Fifth Sign: The land shall be criss-crossed by a giant spider's
web."

"This is the Sixth sign: The land shall be criss-crossed with rivers of stone
that make pictures in the sun."

"This is the Seventh Sign: You will hear of the sea turning black, and many
living things dying because of it."
"This is the Eight Sign: You will see many youth, who wear their hair long like
my people, come and join the tribal nations, to learn their ways and wisdom.

"And this is the Ninth and Last Sign: You will hear of a dwelling-place in the
heavens, above the earth, that shall fall with a great crash. It will appear as
a blue star. Very soon after this, the ceremonies of my people will cease.

"These are the Signs that great destruction is coming. The world shall rock
to and fro. The white man will battle against other people in other lands --
with those who possessed the first light of wisdom. There will be many
columns of smoke and fire such as White Feather has seen the white man
make in the deserts not far from here. Only those which come will cause
disease and a great dying.

"Many of my people, understanding the prophecies, shall be safe. Those who

stay and live in the places of my people also shall be safe. Then there will be
much to rebuild. And soon -- very soon afterward -- Pahana will return. He
shall bring with him the dawn of the Fifth World. He shall plant the seeds of
his wisdom in their hearts. Even now the seeds are being planted. These shall
smooth the way to the Emergence into the Fifth World.

"But White Feather shall not see it. I am old and dying. You -- perhaps will
see it. In time, in time..."

The old Indian fell silent. They had arrived at his destination, and Reverend
David Young stopped to let him out of the car. They never met again.
Reverend Young died in 1976, so he did not live to see the further
fulfillment of this remarkable prophecy.

The signs are interpreted as follows: The First Sign is of guns. The Second
Sign is of the pioneers' covered wagons. The Third Sign is of longhorn
cattle. The Fourth Sign describes the railroad tracks. The Fifth Sign is a
clear image of our electric power and telephone lines. The Sixth Sign
describes concrete highways and their mirage-producing effects. The
Seventh Sign foretells of oil spills in the ocean. The Eighth Sign clearly
indicates the "Hippy Movement" of the 1960s. The Ninth Sign was the U.S.
Space Station Skylab, which fell to Earth in 1979. According to Australian
eye-witnesses, it appeared to be burning blue.
Another Hopi prophecy warns that nothing should be brought back from the
Moon -- obviously anticipating the Apollo 11 mission that returned with
samples of lunar basalt. It this was done, the Hopi warned, the balance of
natural and universal laws and forces would be disturbed, resulting in
earthquakes, severe changes in weather patterns, and social unrest. All
these things are happening today, though of course not necessarily because
of Moon rocks.

The Hopi also predicted that when the "heart" of the Hopi land trust is dug
up, great disturbances will develop in the balance of nature, for the Hopi
holy land is the microcosmic image of the entire planet; any violations of
nature in the Four Corners region will be reflected and amplified all over the
Earth.

In 1959, a six-man delegation of traditional Hopi leaders led by the late

spiritual leader, Dan Katchongva, traveled to the United Nations Building in
New York to fulfill a sacred mission in accordance with ancient Hopi
instructions. Because of their prophetic knowledge, the Hopi leaders felt it
was time to go east to the edge of their motherland, where "a house of
mica" [The United Nations building] would stand at this time, where Great
Leaders from many lands would be gathered to help any people who are in
trouble."

They were to go when the motherland of the Hopi and other Indian brothers
were about to be taken away from them and their way of life was in danger
of being completely destroyed by evil ones among the White Men and by
some other Indian brothers who were influenced by the White Race. This is
a clear and present danger: the betrayal of Indian-U.S.A. treaties, land
sales, and coal and uranium mining are destroying the Hopi land and its people
-- and all other peoples and lands, in eventual effect...

According to prophecy, at least one, two or three leaders or nations would

hear and understand the Hopi warnings, as "It is told that they too should
know these ancient instructions". Upon hearing the message of the Hopi,
they would act immediately to correct many wrongs being done to the chosen
race -- the Red Man who was granted permission to hold in trust all land and
life for the Great Spirit. This prophecy would seem to have failed. Hopi
prophecy also declares that the doors of the "Glass House" would be closed
to them. This was the case at first, though they have delivered their
message to the United Nations Assembly since then:

"When the Great Leaders in the Glass House refuse to open the door to you
when you stand before it that day, [Repeated, again in 1993] do not be
discouraged or turn about on the path you walk, but take courage,
determination, and be of great rejoicing in your hearts, for on that day the
White Race who are on your land with you have cut themselves from you and
thereon lead themselves to the Greatest Punishment at the Day of
Purification. Many shall be destroyed for their sins and evil ways. The Great
Spirit has decreed it and no one can stop it, change it, or add anything to it.
It shall be fulfilled!"

On August 7, 1970, a spectacular UFO sighting was witnessed by dozens of

people and photographed by Chuck Roberts of the Prescott
(Arizona)"Courier". This sighting occurred after a "UFO calling" by Paul
Solem and several Hopi Indians. This sighting was interpreted by some Hopis
as being a partial fulfillment of a certain Hopi prophecy given by the Great
Spirit Maasau and inscribed on Second Mesa, warning of the coming of
Purification Day, when the true Hopi will be flown to other planets in "ships
without wings."

Hopi prophecy also tells us that there will be a mass migration of Indians
northward from Mexico and Central and South America. The migration will
be led by a 130-year old Indian named Etchata Etchana. The movement will
come after the huge fire and explosion that will herald the advent of the
True White Brother.

According to Hopi belief, the survivors of the Great Deluge thousands of

years ago split up into four groups that moved north, south, east and west.
Only one group completed their journey -- to the North Pole and back --
under the guidance of a brilliant "star" in which the Great Spirit Maasau
traveled. When he landed, he drew a petroglyph on Second Mesa, showing a
maiden (with the traditional "butterfly" hair arrangement) riding in a
wingless, dome-shaped craft. The petroglyph signified the coming Day of
Purification when the true Hopi will fly to other planets in "ships without
wings."
The prophecy also warns that there will be three divisions among the Hopi
The first division was in 1906 between the Traditionalists and the
Modernists. The Traditionalists were forced to leave Oraibi and move to
Hotevilla. The second division took place in the wake of the spectacular
appearance of UFOs in August, 1970.

Prophecy Rock

Near Oraibi, Arizona, there is a petroglyph known as Prophecy Rock which

symbolizes many Hopi prophecies. Its interpretation is:

The large human figure on the left is the Great Spirit. The bow in his left
hand represents his instructions to the Hopi to lay down their weapons. The
vertical line to the right of the Great Spirit is a time scale in thousands of
years. The point at which the great Spirit touches the line is the time of his
return.

The "life path" established by the Great Spirit divides into the lower,
narrow path of continuous Life in harmony with nature and the wide upper
road of white man's scientific achievements. The bar between the paths,
above the cross, is the coming of white men; the Cross is that of
Christianity. The circle below the cross represents the continuous Path of
Life.

The four small human figures on the upper road represent, on one level, the
past three worlds and the present; on another level, the figures indicate
that some of the Hopi will travel the white man's path, having been seduced
by its glamour.
The two circles on the lower Path of Life are the "great shaking of the
earth" (World Wars One and Two). The swastika in the sun and the Celtic
cross represent the two helpers of Pahana, the True White Brother.

The short line that returns to the straight Path of Life is the last chance
for people to turn back to nature before the upper road disintegrates and
dissipates. The small circle above the Path of Life, after the last chance, is
the Great Purification, after which corn will grow in abundance again when
the Great Spirit returns. And the Path of Life continues forever...

The Hopi shield in the lower right corner symbolizes the Earth and the Four-
Corners area where the Hopi have been reserved. The arms of the cross also
represent the four directions in which they migrated according to the
instructions of the Great Spirit.

The dots represent the four colors of Hopi corn, and the four racial colors
of humanity.

plants blossom in the middle of winter, we would need to go to Santa Fe to
warn everyone of suffering and destruction to come unless they change
their ways. Last year, in the middle of winter the plants began to blossom."

How much suffering and destruction will accompany the time of the
purification, and what will be its end result? Martin Gasheseoma foretells
judgment in front of a big mirror and death to those who are evil and
wicked, with only a handful of people surviving in every nation overseas who
will then come to this continent, "which we call heaven."

"All the suffering going on in this country with the tornadoes, floods, and
earthquakes is carried on the breath of Mother Earth because she is in
pain," says Roberta Blackgoat, an elder of the Independent Dineh (Navajo)
Nation at Big Mountain. She explains that the Four Corners area is
particularly sacred because it literally holds Mother Earth's internal organs
-- coal and uranium which the Bureau of Indian Affairs has allowed the
Peabody Coal Mine to mine. "They are trying to take her precious guts out
for money," says Blackgoat. "My grandfather told me that coal is like the
liver, and uranium is both the heart and lungs of Mother Earth." Hopi and
Navajo traditionalists are fighting the mining.

These life and death matters will be determined when Pahana returns, and
theories abound as to Pahana's identity. Since Pahana has also been called
the White Brother, and since he is to return from the east, Hopi of past
centuries wondered whether he could have been a Spaniard or an Anglo and
devised tests for determining the true Pahana, including knowledge of the
greeting of brotherhood, similarities of religious beliefs, and possession of
the missing piece of the stone tablet. Many were tested, including Catholics,
Baptists, and Mormons, but none passed to the satisfaction of traditional
Hopi.

Robert Ghost Wolf

Robert has been called a holistic healer, teacher, ceremonial leader, prophet
and Shaman. He is an internationally recognized author, speaker and artist.
Ghost Wolf is a Metis, part Iroquois and Lakota. He has worked with the
Apache, Lakota, Osage, Hopi and Ojibwa elders for many years.

Robert says that ETs are contacting us now. Almost all Native American
cultures have ancient prophecies telling of interactions with "Star Brothers"
and their coming which they have recorded on petroglyphs.

The Hopi Indians are the Record Keepers of the Native Americans. The
Hopis call this the "The Fourth Age of Man". According to them the earth
has been wipped clean 3 times already. First by Fire, next by Ice, most
recently by the flood... approximately 11,000-12,000 years ago. Some believe
that the actual date of the flood occured on June 5, 8498 BC. According to
the Hopis we are about to enter "The Fifth Age", which they call "The World
of Illumination", which seems to coincide with the dawning of the Age of
Aquarius.

The Hopis say that there will two more worlds after this. "The Sixth Age"
which is "The World of Prophecy and Revelation" and "The Seventh Age" is
"The World of Completion".

The Native Americans have been not only the forefathers of we Americans
who came to this country a few hundred years ago but they have been the
Keepers of the Earth for a long period of time. What they believe is very
sacred to us. This knowledge is re-emerging at this time in the Earth's
history.

The Hopi believe that they descended from the Pleiades and that even
before that they came from Lyra which is the Ring Nebula that the
Pleiadians have spoken to Bill Meier about. They call Lyra the "Eye of God".

Robert mentions volcanoes going off in the Pacific Rim. This warms up the
water making fish change their migration patterns. For example salmon from
Alaska are not as plentiful as before. The El Nino' is also swelling to record
proportions. He says this means Hopi legends are being fulfilled and we are
at the end of the Dream.

Asked what we can do about this, he said we need to return to the Earth and
one way to do that is to restore our bodies to health by eating natural grains
such as wheat, rice, millet, and corn. He travels around the world doing the
Ghost Dance which is to raise the consciousness of people. He said we have
got to stop fighting each other. He said people are not the enemy, the
Corporation is the enemy because they are being greedy and taking profits
now without regard to the future impact on our environment.

The 3 days of darkness of Hopi Prophecy will be 1998/1999. [This did not
occur, but the concept of three days of darkness may yet occur in aother
timeline as it appears in other religions.

Phoenix Bird would raise its wings and fly. Fire that burned it was the
consumption of human desires. We are still not in balance.

Hopi Clan Rocks were given out to all four races a long time ago.

A white man will come and restore the Fire Clay tablet.

AB: How old are the prophecies that we are talking going to talk about?
GF2: He doesn't know exactly what the age of these teachings are. He says
they were given to them before Christ. It is mainly by word of mouth that it
has been handed down.

AB: How does HE feel about the accuracy of the prophecy?

GF2: From the time when was the chief, he had been carrying this message.
But mainly the message had been carried forth by word of mouth. The
accuracy had to deal with how well each individual that was given the
opportunity to maintain the exactness of the prophecies. They were all given
this prophecy, so they all had to meet at least once or twice a year, in the
Kivas, where they would actually sit down and go back through that. One
person would talk about the prophecies, and if he ever so much as added
something to it or left something out, then the rest of the group would know
that part of the prophecies was missing. So, they would tell him, "Well, you
didn't say this one here," or "You added this to it." So, that is how this was
kept alive through word of mouth and everyone had to remember just what
those prophecies were about.

AB: Is Grandfather, or are you and others now having many dreams
indicating that indeed these are the end times beginning to unfold?

GF2: Yes, I have dreamed about these things and that's how a lot of them
are coming about and they are true.

GF2: It's not a matter of a quick change. If you wanted to change now and
change your life around and do your prayers, it will help a little in the
alleviation of much terrible outcome from the cataclysms. There is a lot in
store for all of us and the intensity of this will be a lot less if we can all
settle down and behave and not be in the way of the actions we have right
now.

G2: There are a few that he thinks are important things that will be coming
up pretty shortly. There's one thing for sure that we are going to come upon
is that World War III is....it will take place....and starvation is definitely a
part of this thing, where we will hit starvation. The weather change, itself,
it's erratic, right now, and it's not what it should be. This weather climate,
itself, it's actually taking care of the crops already in a way that we're
losing it. That's part of...you know.....leading us into starvation because the
crops will not produce.

AB: Now, these are three things: weather change, mass starvation and the
third world war. Would you please ask Grandfather if the weather changes
are the beginning of these changes.....if what we have seen now, with the
weather, is the beginning and, of course, we're going to want to ask how soon
these other changes, he thinks, will happen.

G2: Yes, these are the signs of, you know, the changes and that also part of
it is, you know, right now we're having problems with crickets which is a part
of these prophecies where they would come in hoards and they will destroy
the crops, also, and that is happening, also.

GF2: It's been said that there is no exact time and date for these
things.....events....to take place but the year 2000 is a ......I would say.....that
is a close approximation of the time that all of this will start to take place.
The teaching from the Elders was that they talked about that everything
will happen at once but, when they say these things, they put it in a form
that, you know, they say it's going to all happen at once but it's not
exactness of happening at once. It will happen but they will, you know, fall
pretty much short from the other, following , it's like a domino effect. This
is, you know, when one thing happens then the other will fall into place. But,
you know, it will be in a short time from one another so this is what
Grandfather was talking about.

G2: It's been known that this had happened a long time ago but, in our prior
world, it happened before, you know, the same things that we had gone
through. The teachings were that we were not supposed to follow in the
same pattern and try to keep ourselves from going astray from our
teachings. These weather patterns that we talked about and cataclysms that
take place, are not really set in order....in a fashion that any person could say
that, 'Okay, the winds are going to do it this year and the next year will be
fires and the following year will be earthquakes, you know.' Also, he's saying
that it's not exactly his words that that is the way that it will take place but
he knows that these are signs and they are readily available. All the signs
are out there. Anyone can see that, that it is taking place and it's only going
to get bigger.
G2: The Earth changes will take place in such a way, you know, that this
whole planet, here, will become a different type of planet because of the
changes in itself. It has happened before, as we mentioned earlier, that it
did happen before that they went through these changes and they was
taught they we weren't supposed to go back to the same routine that we had
gone through in the past life. That was the corruption that we were going
through....what we're going through, today. There is so much corruption, out
there. These were the things that led us to these things and even animals,
insects, all of these things will all turn around on us and, you know, they're
going to lead us to the same things again.

GF2: In the big cities, it will effect a lot. You know, how much corruption
there will be within the cities. Also, the people themselves have to be aware
of all of these things that will take place, so they must change, too. But, he's
not asking anyone to follow him in the way he put himself on the path he is
on. He is not asking anyone to follow him in that. It is up to the individual to
make that decision for him/herself as to which direction they want to go.
When you make that choice for yourself, what you want to do with your life,
you don't blame anybody else for your own actions, for what you do. If
something happens to you along the way, then you are not going to say that
you were forced into it. These are the things that he had looked into also.
That's why he's saying that he's not asking anyone to follow him in the way
he's leading himself. He's only giving out advice that this is what they should
do. They should start changing themselves and going back to the old ways of
living simple lives, of taking care of themselves from the land that is
available to them, and from the food that they grow. These are the things
that will help you along the way when you come to your hard times. So, the
people must make these decisions for themselves.

GF2: From the teachings that were given to him, he has understood that the
solar axis itself, of the Sun, is going to change. The places that normally
have cold weather will have hot weather. You know, the weather itself is
going to get even worse. The temperatures are going to rise even higher, and
that will burn up the crops and dry up the Earth, so nothing will be able to
grow. It is true that the Sun itself is being affected by this also.
GF2: He has seen pictures of the crop circles that have been out there.
These are, in his own mind, teachings also, and they're telling us what is
becoming of our time and where it is leading us. He has had a chance to look
at a few of them, and he does understand what they're trying to put
through?..the message in the circle itself. It is telling us that we are very
close to it and what we need to do in order to get ourselves back on track,
and the other end of it?..when he says, the other end of it, where you get to
see all the things happen and live again?..for a new life to start.

GF2: I'd like to add a little to what he just said. This is referring to the
question prior to this one. I didn't finish it out. He said that the crop circles
were put there by outside, like the UFO people, but he's not sure just who
put those crop circles there. But, to get back to the question that is the last
one here, the teachings from the Elders, he said, yes they know about the
possibilities of other life forms on other planets. The "Old Ones," the old
people, the "Old Ones" way back had the knowledge and know-how of getting
around, and they have traveled to other planets before and they know how it
is out there, if there is life on other planets and they DO know that there is
life on other planets and what planets are not liveable. But, they don't know
the exactness of how they will be helping us out or they will be going against
us. They just know that when we are getting close to the end times, we will
be visited by people from out there, and we're not aware whether they're
going to help us or go against us. We do know that they have high technology
to see what is going on.

G2: There is a story that we do know that we did have a brother who was set
out and he is out there and with that brother and, from the Society of the
One Horned Clan, they made a pact that....from the One Horned Clan and the
Society and the brother had make like a.....it's a law that the purifying time
would come. This was already done, it was like it had been already organized
and it was, you know, established. The stories that there will be come a time
that whoever is going to come and, you know, to purify the people.

G2: The 'Purifier' is mentioned is the other brother that was sent forth, out
to the East, and this was the teaching that he had.....that he was sent of to
the East and he would reach the point of origin where the Sun would come
out from. When he reached that place, then he would touch his head to the
Earth and he would return back to us. When this, you know, time comes
that's the end of....the end times....time for a purification time when he will
return back. He is the one that has the....in a way, you know....the weapons or
the artillery and he is the Big Brother so he would know what to do and how
he would help us and how we would go about in having to make us understand.
His job is to make us understand and try to get ourselves to behave in the
way that we're supposed to and, if we don't, then the one from the West
will come and they are the ones that are going to come with much force. He,
the 'Purifier', the one that went to the East, is supposed to be big enough to
take on the ones that are coming from the West. That is going to become
like the Third World War.

G2: You know, in the cities itself, what's going on.....what you
mentioned.....yes, these are part of the teachings and the prophesies that,
when we get to these end times, you know, we're all going to start going
corrupt. Even, you know, the children because they don't really believe in
anything, even what we're trying to teach them and what we try to talk to
them about. You know, they look at you but they have a different opinion
about these things and they don't believe that. It's hard to try to teach the
young ones and even grown-ups, even adults, are in the same situation. It's
not just the children who are in this kind of situation, right now, it's even
the adults who are in that kind of situation and, you know, there's a lot of
corruption in this way, but we do know that these things would start to take
place in the school systems and all over where even young children would
start to take lives, like that, because it is just a corruption of the mind from
the way things are going, right now. The children will go against their own
parents

G2: He feels that, that is happening, we're misleading ourselves from that,
from the material side of it and walking away from the spiritual sense of it.

G2: We should never forget, you know, about farming and how to take care
of ourselves because you never know when it will hit and that's why they
teach us these things, as young.

G2: Well, the outcome of this, after that purifying time, the lifestyle will
change....more or less. Those people or those ones that have been working,
you know, with the evil or and the dark side are going to be eliminated. Only
those that are walking on the one path and believing in that one and with a
good heart, those are the ones that are going to continue this and there will
be some....what you would say....there might be some people who have the
minds that are like the scientists that can develop things. Right now we are
not supposed to be taking the minerals out of the Earth for any reason at all,
you know. Only certain minerals but only for the amount that you need,
that's what was taught. But other than that, we're not supposed to reap the
Earth, you know, and tear it up like that...what we're doing now. Like
intermarriage, it's not supposed to be done. Only after purification time will
intermarriage be possible, you know, that we can start to marry other
people.....other walks. This is, you know, when the people will come together
after purification time and all walks, that have been spared, will come
together and one language will be spoken. There will be one law and it has
been taught to say that, you know, some people say that it's gonna be their
language or it's going to be the Hopi language that's going to be spoken but
this is, you know, something that is not very known as to what language will
be spoken but there will be one language that will be spoken. Togetherness is
what will come about where we're going to come back to what was once
before. What Adam and Eve came upon was, you know, was the Garden of
Eden where everything will be flourishing, even, you know, the flowers and
the vegetation. Everything will be back to normal but from thenceforth we
are allowed to do these things and we can take the minerals out of the
Earth, to use for a purpose, and not to really destroy it, though. And all
the....he mentioned, also, which I forgot to mention......was the altars and the
shrines, of the different societies, will be eliminated and all those will be,
you know, have to be put away because they will no longer have power and
authority over anything so these will be eliminated.

AB: Will there be a single power or a single authority or a single law or will
everybody simply understand, inside themselves, that we are now one? There
are many who talk, in our world, about a single world government.....a single
world ruler. Is that what Grandfather is speaking of?

G2: Yes, but not in the fashion that we understand it, now......what they're
talking about....the New World Order. See, that's more or less in a
dictatorial form but this is done in a way, you know, where freedom is an
essence.
AB: Alright. Grandfather spoke about World War III. I would like to be
clear about this. Does he see men killing men.....humans killing humans.....or
does he just see explosions and fire? Is that what he calls World War III?

G2: What you had mentioned about which one is, you know, the one that's
going to be...he said that the taking of lives, you know, this is what will take
place because it will be like an elimination of good from the bad. He
mentioned about Hitler, you know, that Hitler had done a lot....done away
with a lot of people, too, and when that took place, he said that many of the
people were....many of the Hopi had realized this and they were glad that
this took place because it was a teaching that took place. It was trying to
teach the people that this is what is going to happen, see, so look at this as
more or less as a warning that this will take place, again.

AB: A warning of a Holocaust.

G2: Yes. So, there will be lives lost. A lot of lives will be lost.

AB: Does Grandfather understand how some lives will be saved while other
lives will be spared with so much fire and war? I guess the question is, will it
be like an Anti-Christ which some people think will arise, soon....in our world,
an Anti-Christ. I don't know if the Hopi have any similar prophecy regarding
one who will come, like Hitler, again.

G2: Yes. He mentioned that, yes, the Anti-Christ, that there is, you know,
that he is coming again but there have been a lot of people that have walked
away from that.....from the teachings and walked away from their spiritual
path. They went and decided to do something else, you know, rather than
having to walk that and he will come in again and he is the one that is going
to set us straight, again, on this thing here.

G2: The teachings are that the Creator, itself, what we talked about....the
Christ....it's the same thing. What life that we're supposed to lead, we've
strayed away from it what he....we told him that we would follow him in the
same way and, if we walk away from these teachings then, he was the one
that was living that and walking that. Then he gave us a choice to do that,
also, and if we disregard everything that was taught to us and we walked
away from it. He will come back in and step in and take it over again back for
himself because he had mentioned that he was the first and he will be the
last. So, this is what will happen.

AB: "Given that we are in the end times, and that there will be much turmoil,
violence, death and destruction....is there anything that we, the living, can do
to prepare our souls for the long, long path that we will all walk down after
our physical lives end?"

G2: Ya, our teachings that we given to us, we've strayed away from it and
how we are supposed to, you know, alleviate a lot of some of these things and
it's going to be too late for us to try to turn around and walk that spiritual
path because we are taught that we are supposed to be on that path from
way back. We should have been changing ourselves quite a number of years
back because it doesn't take over night for a person to change....to walk a
path....the chose path. Also, it doesn't take over night for the Creator to
believe in you. He has to look at you, you know, your heart is the thing that
has to change and it's not going to change over night. These are the things
that are very hard to change on a person and so right now we look at it that
it is already too late to start changing.

G2: The Kachinas are spirits that we talk about, are in a sense, the teachings
but we can't go into detail of who they are.....what they are. I mean, you
know, because only an initiated person should know about the knowledge of
these but the only thing we can say is that they are spirits and that they are
out there and they have their own home. Throughout the years, our elders of
the different villages, you know, have been working with the spirits and
making the prayer feathers for them and asking for their power to come in
and bring in the rain for the crops because we don't have any way of
irrigation our fields. We live in a desert area. This is a chosen area because
the Hopi had been know to survive in an arid place. Hopi has been know that
they would strive and survive, even in a desert place where there is no water
really available for those kinds of things. So, they ask, through prayer, to
ask their crops to survive and this is a strong sense of spirituality of the
Hopi. They come in the form of clouds.

G2: He believes that the axis of the Earth itself will change,
also.....shift....and that will cause a lot of Earth changes, itself, also. About
the stars that you mentioned, there have been a lot of stories about these
things and they pertain to a lot of what happened with the stars, too. He
says he doesn't know exactly but it's true that a lot of what happened with
the stars and different things....the patterns.....are true and now they talk
about these things as just like stories and like fairy tale stores but most of
them are true. He doesn't know exactly what will take place out there, again,
if that should every happen.

AB: Alright. Would you ask Grandfather to give us some few things that we
should all watch and look for to happen in the next say.....18 months.....or year
and a half.

G2: Okay, he says that these earthquakes are eminent but there is no real
date as to when these will take place. That big earthquake that was supposed
to hit California had been altered, in a way, by the Tibetans who had heard
about that and they did a lot of prayers there and they helped in altering
the intensity of the earthquake that took place in California. That is, you
know, something that we should look for is a large earthquake that would
take place. It's going to be real big. It's going to be devastating.

The presentation by Mr Thomas Banyacya, the final speaker, was preceded
by three shouts by Oren Lyons, Faithkeeper of the Six Nations, and first
speaker of the day. The shouts were a spiritual announcement to the Great
Spirit of the people assembled and the intention to give a message of
spiritual importance.

Thomas then sprinkled corn meal next to the podium of the General
Assembly and made a brief remark in Hopi that translates as follows:Hopi
Spiritual leaders had an ancient prophecy that some day world leaders would
gather in a Great House of Mica with rules and regulations to solve the world
problems without war.

I am amazed to see the prophecy has come true and you are here today! But
only a handful of United Nations Delegates are present to hear the Motee
Sinom (Hopi for First People) from around the world who spoke here today.
(In English:) My name is Banyacya of the Wolf, Fox and Coyote Clan and I am
a member of the Hopi sovereign nation. Hopi in our language means a
peaceful, kind, gentle, truthful people.

The traditional Hopi follows the spiritual path that was given to us by
Massau'u the Great Spirit. We made a sacred covenant to follow his life plan
at all times, which includes the responsibility of taking care of this land and
life for his divine purpose. We have never made treaties with any foreign
nation, including the United States, but for many centuries we have honored
this sacred agreement.

Our goals are not to gain political control, monetary wealth nor military
power, but rather to pray and to promote the welfare of all living beings and
to preserve the world in a natural way. We still have our ancient sacred
stone tablets and spiritual religious societies which are the foundations of
the Hopi way of life.

Our history says our white brother should have retained those same sacred
objects and spiritual foundations.In 1948, all traditional Hopi spiritual
leaders met and spoke of things I felt strongly were of great importance to
all people.

They selected four interpreters to carry their message of which I am the

only one still living today. At the time, I was given a sacred prayer feather
by the spiritual leaders. I made a commitment to carry the Hopi message of
peace and deliver warnings from prophesies known since the time the
previous world was destroyed by flood and our ancestors came to this land.

My mission was to open the doors of this Great House of Mica to native
peoples. The Elders said to knock four times and this commitment was
fulfilled when I delivered a letter and the sacred prayer feather I had been
given to John Washburn in the Secretary General's office in October, 1991.

I am bringing part of the Hopi message to you here today. We have only ten
minutes to speak and time is late so I am making my statement short.

At the meeting in 1948, Hopi leaders 80, 90 and even 100 years old
explained that the creator made the first world in perfect balance where
humans spoke one language, but humans turned away from moral and spiritual
principles. They misused their spiritual powers for selfish purposes.

They did not follow nature's rules. Eventually the world was destroyed by
sinking of land and separation of land by what you would call major
earthquakes. Many died and only a small handful survived.Then this handful
of peaceful people came into the second world.

They repeated their mistakes and the world was destroyed by freezing
which you call the great Ice Age.The few survivors entered the third world.

That world lasted a long time and as in previous worlds, the people spoke one
language. The people invented many machines and conveniences of high
technology, some of which have not yet been seen in this age. They even had
spiritual powers that they used for good.

They gradually turned away from natural laws and pursued only material
things and finally only gambled while they ridiculed spiritual principles. No
one stopped them from this course and the world was destroyed by the
great flood that many nations still recall in their ancient history or in their
religions.

The Elders said again only small groups escaped and came to this fourth
world where we now live. Our world is in terrible shape again even though the
Great Spirit gave us different languages and sent us to four corners of the
world and told us to take care the the Earth and all that is in it.

This Hopi ceremonial rattle represents Mother Earth. The line running
around it is a time line and indicates that we are in the final days of the
prophecy. What have you, as individuals, as nations and as the world body
been doing to to take care of this Earth? In the Earth today, humans poison
their own food, water and air with pollution. Many of us, including children,
are left to starve. Many wars are still being fought. Greed and concern for
material things is a common disease.In this western hemisphere, our
homeland, many original native people are landless, homeless, starving and
have no medical help.

The Hopi knew humans would develop many powerful technologies that would
be abused. In this century, we have seen the First World War and the
Second World War in which the predicted gourd of ashes, which you call the
atomic bomb, fell from the sky with great destruction. Many thousands of
people were destroyed in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

For many years there has been great fear and danger of World War Three.
The Hopi believe the Persian Gulf War was the beginning of World War
Three but it was stopped and the worst weapons of destruction were not
used. This is now a time to weigh the choices for our future. We do have a
choice. If you, the nations of this Earth, create another great war, the Hopi
believe we humans will burn ourselves to death with ashes.

That's why the spiritual Elders stress strongly that the United Nations fully
open the door for native spiritual leaders as soon as possible.Nature itself
does not speak with a voice that we can easily understand. Neither can the
animals and birds we are threatening with extinction talk to us.

Who in this world can speak for nature and the spiritual energy that creates
and flows through all life? In every continent are human beings who are like
you but who have not separated themselves from the land and from nature.
It is through their voice that Nature can speak to us.

You have heard those voices and many messages from the four corners of
the world today. I have studied comparative religion and I think in your own
nations and cultures you have knowledge of the consequences of living out of
balance with nature and spirit.

The native peoples of the world have seen and spoken to you about the
destruction of their lives and homelands, the ruination of nature and the
desecration of their sacred sites. It is time the United Nations used its
rules to investigate these occurrences and stop them now.

The Four Corners area of the Hopi is bordered by four sacred mountains.
The spiritual center within is a sacred site our prophecies say will have
special purpose in the future for mankind to survive and now should be left
in its natural state. All nations must protect this spiritual center.

The Hopi and all original native people hold the land in balance by prayer,
fasting and performing ceremonies. Our spiritual Elders still hold the land in
the Western Hemisphere in balance for all living beings, including humans.
No one should be relocated from their sacred homelands in this Western
Hemisphere or anywhere in the world. Acts of forced relocation, such as
Public Law 93-531 in the United States, must be repealed.

The United Nations stands on our native homeland. The United Nations talks
about human rights, equality and justice and yet the native people have never
had a real opportunity to speak to this assembly since its establishment until
today.

It should be the mission of your nations and this assembly to use your power
and rules to examine and work to cure the damage people have done to this
Earth and to each other. Hopi Elders know that was your mission and they
wait to see whether you will act on it now.Nature, the First People and the
spirit of our ancestors are giving you loud warnings.

Today, December 10, 1992, you see increasing floods, more damaging
hurricanes, hail storms, climate changes and earthquakes as our prophesies
said would come. Even animals and birds are warning us with strange change
in their behavior such as the beaching of whales. Why do animals act like
they know about the earth's problems and most humans act like they know
nothing?
If we humans do not wake up to the warnings, the great purification will
come to destroy this world just as the previous worlds were destroyed.

There are two paths. The first with technology but separate from natural
and spiritual law leads to these jagged lines representing chaos.

The lower path is one that remains in harmony with natural law. Here we see
a line that represents a choice like a bridge joining the paths. If we return
to spiritual harmony and live from our hearts, we can experience a paradise
in this world.

If we continue only on this upper path, we will come to destruction.Its up to

all of us, as children of Mother Earth, to clean up this mess before it's too
late.

The Elders request that during this International Year for the Worlds
Indigenous Peoples, the United Nations keep that door open for spiritual
leaders from the four corners of the world to come to speak to you for more
than a few minutes as soon as possible. The Elders also request that eight
investigative teams visit the native areas of the world to observe and tell
the truth about what is being done and stop these nations from moving in
this self- destructive direction.

If any of you leaders want to learn more about the spiritual vision and power
of the Elders, I invite you to come out to Hopiland and sit down with our real
spiritual leaders in their sacred Kivas where they will reveal the ancient
secrets of survival and balance.

I hope that all members of this assembly that know the spiritual way will not
just talk about it, but in order to have real peace and harmony, will follow
what it says across the United Nations wall: "They will beat their swords
into plowshares and study war no more." Lets, together, do that now!

Epilogue
The night before the presentations of the native people from around the
world to the General Assembly, there was a total eclipse of the moon over
New York City and the sky was clear. The evening after the presentation by
Mr Banyacya and the other native spokespersons, heavy rain and strong wind
began. The weathermen had been calling for a snowstorm but what came the
following day were the worst floods in New York's memory. Major highways
were washed away by the sea and the United Nations itself experienced
flooding of its lower subfloors, forcing a shutdown of its heating and air
conditioning and all personnel were dismissed at three o'clock.

In the ground floor meeting room, where on December 11, native peoples
were meeting representatives of various UN agencies, Thomas Banyacya
spontaneously called on all the participants, including UN officials, to form a
great circle. All the Elders were in the center and Thomas called in some
non-native people as well. Each silently said a prayer. The forming of the
circle of unity of all people from the four corners of the Earth was more
than just a symbolic act. One participant said she had never felt herself to
be in such a safe place. Later, several people present noted that no further
storm damage occurred in Manhattan and that the storm itself abated that
afternoon.

I am very glad to have this time to send a message to you. We are

celebrating a time in our history which is both filled with joy and sadness. I
am very glad that our Hindu brothers have given us this opportunity to share
these feelings with you because we know many of you are having the same
troubles.

We Hopi believe that the human race has passed through three different
worlds and life ways since the beginning. At the end of each prior world,
human life has been purified or punished by the Great Spirit "Massauu" due
mainly to corruption, greed and turning away from the Great Spirit's
teachings. The last great destruction was the flood which destroyed all but
a few faithful ones who asked and received a permission from the Great
Spirit to live with Him in this new land. The Great Spirit said, "It is up to
you, if you are willing to live my poor, humble and simple life way. It is hard
but if you agree to live according to my teachings and instructions, if you
never lose faith in the life I shall give you, you may come and live with me."
The Hopi and all who were saved from the great flood made a sacred
covenant with the Great Spirit at that time. We Hopi made an oath that we
will never turn away from Him. For us the Creators laws never change or
break down.

The time will come when from the Earth will arise a mystic fog which will
dilute the minds and hearts of all people. Their guidelines of wisdom and
knowledge will falter, the Great Laws of our Creator will dissolve in the
minds of people. Children will be out of control and will no longer obey the
leaders, immorality and the competitive war of greed will flourish.

When the end is near, we will see a halo of mist around the heavenly bodies.
Four times it will appear around the sun as a warning that we must reform,
telling us that people of all color must unite and arise for survival, and that
we must uncover the causes of our dilemmas. Unless man-made weapons are
used to strike first, peace will then come.

So the time will come when we will experience late springs and early frosts,
this will be the sign of the returning Ice Age.

We believe militarism is born out of injustice, poverty and ignorance where

absolute governments refuse to hear the grievances of minorities. So the
people resort to violence, demonstrations and even terrorism when they see
no other way to be heard. What can we do when our world leaders and the
people are acting like fools in attempts to solve the problems confronting
us? Once again we will quote the prophecy of our Elders. We hope it will
interest you so that you will be more aware of it because it has been
happening for some time.

According to prophecy, the day will come when people in high places will be
hunted. This will get out of control. The hunting will gather strength and
spread. This situation might even erupt on our land. Finally, this will lead us
to the Biblical version of Armageddon (the Hopi version is closely related). A
final decisive battle between good and evil. This will occur under one God or
Chief. The prophets say we will speak one language and that this will happen
in Hopiland, in the village of Oraibi , where the new life plan will be drawn, in
the pattern and cycle of religion. Here also a final decision will be made for
the wicked. They will be beheaded and speak no more. If this does not
materialize there will be a total destruction through the acts of man or
nature. Then new life will begin from a girl and a boy. This is a frightening
prophecy and will not be supported by many.

It is in the prophecies of the Hopi that in a case like this the Navajo may
help our cause. Also the Bahannas or the Paiute Tribe may help. We doubt
that the U.S. Government will easily concede our sovereignty.

There are two water serpents, one at each pole with a warrior sitting on his
head and tail. These command nature to warn us by her activities that time
is getting short, and we must correct ourselves. If we refuse to heed these
warnings, the warriors will let go of the serpents; they will rise up, and all
will perish.

We are much concerned about the climate. No one seems to be able to

predict the weather accurately from day to day. However, we know
according to our time markers that it is past due for certain seeds to be
planted at their proper time. In recent springs, we were reluctant to plant
due to the late snow and cold weather. Once more maybe our ancient
prophecy is right, that one day we will plant wearing finger sacks (gloves)
clearing away snow with our feet before planting. The summers will become
shorter for maturing the corn for harvest. The result is anybody's guess.
The question is, will this occur the world over? This would depend on the
geographical areas. In the regions with different climates, things will happen
in different ways. For instance, tropical land could become a land of ice, and
the Arctic region could become tropical. This need not happen if we, the
people, get our leaders to do something about the harmful things being done
to the environment.

It is said that, if the future generations find out that we did nothing to
preserve the good ways, they might throw us from our houses into the
streets. This suffering will be of our own making. The lack of peace in our
own spiritual being could trigger the revolution. Our True White Brother
might come and find we have forsaken the sacred instructions. Then he will
whip us without mercy.

Let us take a look into the future through the eyes of our prophets. Hopi
were instructed to tell of the Great Purification just ahead of a time when
Humankind would once again become highly civilized, tending to become
careless and leading us to self-destruction. They said that, along the way,
the industrialized world will have certain problems. People will be
uncomfortable because of the changing times, and they will have to make
adjustments to find new life styles.

Industrialized nations will become careless in getting more the resources

out of the earth. Believing all these things will last forever, soon natural
resources will be depleted. Fuel shortages will occur; industrial machinery
will come to a standstill. The machinery used for planting, harvesting and
transport will become useless. Supermarket shelves will become empty of
farm produce. The farmers and those who grow their own food will not sell
their produce. Money will become worthless. The white man with all his
intelligence and technology will not be able to repair the damage. We will see
extraordinary events in Nature and Earth, including humans.

Modern man looks upon old wisdom and knowledge as dead, useless and no
longer respected. Modern man depends on the money system and no longer
on Mother Earth for food. According to prophecy when this happens Mother
Earth will hide her nourishment because of the view that ancient food is
poor man's food. When all food disappears, modern man will try to correct
his mistake, the conditions he caused upon the earth through his inventions.
He will try to achieve some kind of method to heal the wound, but this will
not be possible when we reach the point of no return.

The Hopi play a key role in the survival of the human race through their vital
communion with the unseen forces that hold nature in balance. The pattern
is simple: The whole world will shake and turn red and turn against those who
are hindering the Hopi.

This prophecy is related to the Biblical version of that which may yet come
to pass. It goes on to say that common people will become concerned and
frustrated because of their hectic world. They will be particularly against
the bloodthirsty policies and the deceitfulness of the world leaders. The
common people the world over will band together to fight for world peace.
They will realize that their leaders have failed. People in high places will be
hunted down like animals, perhaps through terrorism. In turn leaders will
retaliate and begin hunting each other. This condition will gather strength
and spread far and wide. It will get out of control the world over. Revolution
could erupt on our land.

The liberators will come in from the west with great force. They will drop
down from the sky like rain. They will have no mercy. We must not get on the
house tops to watch. They will shake us by our ears, like children who have
been bad. This will be the final decisive battle between good and evil. This
battle will cleanse the heart of people and restore our Mother Earth from
illness, and the wicked will be gotten rid of.

If this fails to materialize, our Great Creator through nature will do the
task according to their [sic] plans. It could be total destruction in any form.
Only brother and sister will survive to begin a new way of life. This prophecy
is frightening and doubtful. Perhaps it is of no value to most people.

Eventually a gourd full of ashes would be invented, which, if dropped from

the sky, would boil the oceans and burn the land causing nothing to grow for
many years. This would be the sign for a certain Hopi to bring out the
teachings in order to warn the world that the third and final event would
happen soon and could bring an end to all life unless people correct
themselves and their leaders in time.
The final stage, called The Great Day of Purification, has been described as
a Mystery Egg in which the forces of the Swastika and the Sun plus a third
force symbolized by the color red culminate either in total rebirth or total
annihilation; we don't know which. But the choice is yours; war and natural
catastrophe may be involved. The degree of violence will be determined by
the degree of inequity caused among the peoples of the world and in the
balance of nature. In this crisis rich and poor will be forced to struggle as
equals in order to survive.

The reality that it will be very violent is now almost taken for granted among
Traditional Hopi, but man still may lessen the violence by correcting his
treatment of nature and fellow man. Ancient, spiritually based communities,
such as the Hopi, must especially be preserved and not forced to abandon
their wise way of life and the natural resources they have vowed to protect.

The man-made system now destroying the Hopi is deeply involved in similar
violations throughout the world. The devastating reversal predicted in the
prophecies is part of the natural order. If those who thrive from that
system, its money and its laws, can manage to stop destroying the Hopi then
many may be able to survive the Day of Purification and enter a new age of
peace. But if no one is left to continue the Hopi way, the hope for such an
age is in vain.

Since mankind has lost peace with one another through conflict due to the
new ways, the Great Spirit, the Great Creator, has punished the people in
many ways. Through all of this there was always a small group who survived
to keep the original ways of life alive. This small group is comprised of those
who adhere to the laws of the Creator, who keep the spiritual path open, out
from the circle of evil. According to our knowledge we are not quite out of
the circle.

Now we enter the time of testing that only the Great Creator can confirm.
The alignment of the planets, we were so kindly informed of by the star
watchers has been awaited by the Hopi. As the time nears, the predicted
behavior of the people accurately describes the behavior of people in the
1990's. When the end is near, we will see a halo of mist around the heavenly
bodies. Four times it will appear around the sun as a warning that we MUST
reform.
Ambitious minds will decrease, while the people of good hearts, who live in
harmony with the earth, will increase until the earth is rid of evil. If the
Hopi are right, this will be accomplished and the earth will bloom again. The
spiritual door is open. Why not join the righteous people? The Horny Toad
Woman gave Massau'u a promise that she would help him in time of need,
saying she too had a metal helmet. After the Hopi have fulfilled their
pattern of life, Massau'u will be the leader, but not before, for He is the
First and He shall be the Last.

There was the cycle of the mineral, the rock. There was the cycle of the
plant. And now we re in the cycle of the animal coming to the end of that and
beginning the cycle of the human being. When we get into the cycle of the
human being, the highest and greatest powers that we have will be released
to us.
They will be released from that light or soul that we carry to the mind. But
right now we're coming to the end of the animal cycle and we have
investigated ourselves and learned what it is to be like an animal on this
earth.

At the beginning of this cycle of time, long ago, the Great Spirit came down
and He made an appearance and He gathered the peoples of this earth
together they say on an island which is now beneath the water and He said
to the human beings, "I'm going to send you to four directions and over time
I'm going to change you to four colors, but I'm going to give you some
teachings and you will call these the Original Teachings and when you come
back together with each other you will share these so that you can live and
have peace on earth, and a great civilization will come about."

And he said "During the cycle of time I'm going to give each of you two
stone tablets. When I give you those stone tablets, don't cast those upon
the ground. If any of the brothers and sisters of the four directions and
the four colors cast their tablets on the ground, not only, will human beings
have a hard time, but almost the earth itself will die."

And so he gave each of us a responsibility and we call that the Guardianship.

To the Indian people, the red people, he gave the Guardianship of the earth.
We were to learn during this cycle of time the teachings of the earth, the
plants that grow from the earth, the foods that you can eat, and the herbs
that are healing so that when we came back together with the other
brothers and sisters we could share this knowledge with them. Something
good was to happen on the earth.

To the South, he gave the yellow race of people the Guardianship of the
wind. They were to learn about the sky and breathing and how to take that
within ourselves for spiritual advancement. They were to share that with is
at this time.

To the West He gave the black race of people the Guardianship of the
water. They were to learn the teachings of the water which is the chief of
the elements, being the most humble and the most powerful. When I went to
the University of Washington and I learned that it was a black man that
discovered blood plasma, it didn't surprise me because blood is water and
the elders already told me the black people would bring the teachings of the
water.

To the North He gave the white race of people the Guardianship of the fire.
If you look at the center of many of the things they do you will find the fire.
They say a light bulb is the white man's fire. If you look at the center of a
car you will find a spark. If you look at the center of the airplane and the
train you will find the fire. The fire consumes, and also moves. This is why it
was the white brothers and sisters who began to move upon the face of the
earth and reunite us as a human family.

And so a long time passed, and the Great Spirit gave each of the four races
two stone tablets. Ours are kept at the Hopi Reservation in Arizona at Four
Corners Area on 3rd Mason.

I talked to people from the black race and their stone tablets are at the
foot of Mount Kenya. They are kept by the Kukuyu Tribe. I once had the
honor of presenting a sacred pipe at the Kukuyu Tribe carved from the red
pipe stone of Mount Kenya. I was at an Indian spiritual gathering about 15
years ago.

A medicine man from South Dakota put a beaded medicine wheel in the
middle of the gathering. It had the four colors from the four directions; He
asked the people, "Where is this from?" They said, "Probably Montana, or
South Dakota, maybe Seskatchewan." He said, "This is from Kenya." It was
beaded just like ours, with the same color

The stone tablets of the yellow race of people are kept by the Tibetans, in
Tibet. If you went straight through the Hopi Reservation to the other side
of the world, you would come out in Tibet. The Tibetan word for "sun" is the
Hopi word for "moon" and the Hopi word for "sun" is the Tibetan word for
"moon".

The guardians of the traditions of the people of Europe are the Swiss. In
Switzerland, they still have a day when each family brings out its mask. They
still know the colors of the families, they still know theymbols, some of
them. I went to school with some people from Switzerland at the University
of Washington and they shared this with me.
Each of these four peoples happen to be people that live in the mountains.

In 1976 America had its bicentennial celebrating 200 years of freedom.

Some of the Native people thought this was significant and they carried a
sacred pipe bundle from the West Coast to the East Coast of this land.

They said that the roads of this land should either go North-South or East-
West. If they went North-South we would come together as brothers and
sisters, but if they went East-West there would be destruction and almost
the earth itself would have a hard time. So you all know the roads went East-
West.

They said then things would be lost from the East to the West and from the
South to the North and that they would come back again from the West to
the East and from the North to the South. So nine years ago in 1976 from
the West to East Coast of this land, from San Francisco to Washington, D.C.
people carried a sacred pipe bundle by hand, on foot.

My aunt had dreamt 15 years ago that people that didn't Like them would
throw rocks and bottles at that pipe bundle as they carried it across the
land. And sure enough that came about. But, as was in my aunt's dream, the
rocks only came so close and then they dropped, and nothing touched it.

When they reached the top of the Rocky Mountains, they hit a hard storm.
An elderly man with long white hair said, "I will carry it now." They had a van
that went alongside the people who were walking. He got out of the van and
carried the sacred pipe bundle clear through that storm. He was so cold
when he got back in the van that someone touched his hair and it fell. His
hair was frozen. You have to be pretty cold for your hair to freeze but that
old man carried it through that storm because they said if they carried this
bundle across the earth, the powers would begin to come back.

They said a spiritual fire would be lit in the North and would come down the
Northwest Coast of this land. When it gets to the Puget Sound, it would go
inland. I think this, nine years later, is the gathering in the North, myself.
That's why I came here. This is it. We have the capacity to start the-
spiritual fire now, here. The old people long ago saw it and foretold it and
I'm going to come to that.

So we went through this cycle of time and each of the four races went to
their directions and they learned their teachings. It was on Newsweek not
too long ago that eight out of ten foods that people eat on the earth are
developed here in the western hemisphere because that was our
Guardianship, to learn the teachings of the earth, and the things that grow
from the Earth.

We were given a sacred handshake to show when we came back together as

brothers and sisters that we still remembered the teachings. It was
indicated on the stone tablets that the Hopis had that the first brothers
and sisters that would come back to them would come as turtles across the
land.

They would be human beings, but they would come as turtles. So when the
time came close the Hopis were at a special village to welcome the turtles
that would come across the land and they got up in the morning and looked
out at the sunrise.

They looked out across the desert and they saw the Spanish Conquistadores
coming, covered in armour, like turtles across the land. So this was them. So
they went out to the Spanish man and they extended their hand hoping for
the handshake but into the hand the Spanish man dropped a trinket. And so
word spread throughout North America that there was going to be a hard
time, that maybe some of the brothers and sisters had forgotten the
sacredness of all things and all the human beings were going to suffer for
this on the Earth.

So tribes began to send people to the mounds to have missions to try to

figure out how they could survive. At that time there were 100,000 cities in
the Mississippi Valley alone, called the mound civilization: cities built on
great mounds.

Those mounds are still there. If you ever go out to Ohio or the Mississippi
Valley, they're tourist attractions now. There was 100,000 cities of Native
people and they were wondering how they could survive.
They began to try to learn to live off the land because they knew a hard
time was going to come. They began to send people to have visions to see how
we could survive this time.

People came on the east coast and they went across this land to the east and
they were told in the prophecies that we should try to remind all the people
that would come here of the sacredness of all things. If we could do that,
then there would be peace on Earth.

But if we did not do that, when the roads went clear from east to west, and
when the other races and colors of the Earth had walked clear across this
land, if by that time we had not come together as a human family, the Great
Spirit would grab the earth with his hand and shake it.

And so if you read the treaty negotiations from Red Jacket of the Six
Nations on the east coast of this land clear to Chief Joseph and Chief
Seattle on the west coast of this land, they all said the same thing. Chief
Joseph said, "I accord you the right, and I hope you accord me the right, to
live in this land." Always we were trying to live together.

But instead of living together, you all know there was separation, there was
segregation. They separated the races: they separated the Indians, and they
separated the blacks. In the state of Washington it was against the law for
an Asian to marry a white person up until not too long ago. There was
separation.

So when they got to the west coast of this land the elders that were made
aware of these prophecies said they would then begin to build a black ribbon.
And on this black ribbon there would move a bug. And when you begin to see
this bug moving on the land, that was the sign for the First Shaking of the
Earth.

The First Shaking of the Earth would be so violent that this bug would be
shaken off the earth into the air and it would begin to move and fly in the
air. And by the end of this shaking this bug will be in the air around the
world.
Behind it would be a trail of dirt and eventually the whole sky of the entire
earth would become dirty from these trails of dirt, and this would cause
many diseases that would get more and more complicated. So the bug moving
on the land, of course I it's easy to see now.

In 1908 the Model-T Ford was mass produced for the first time. So the
elders knew the First Shaking of the Earth was about to come about that's
the First World War. In the First World War the airplane came into wide
usage for the first time. That was that bug moving into the sky. And so they
knew something very important would happen.

There would be an attempt to make peace on earth on the west coast of this
land and so the elders began to watch for this. They began to hear that
there was going to be a League of Nations in San Francisco so the elders
gathered in Arizona around 1920 or so and they wrote a letter to Woodrow
Wilson.

They asked if the Indian people could be included in the League of Nations.
At that time the United States Supreme Court had held that a reservation
is a separate and semi- sovereign nation, not a part of the United States but
protected by it. This became a concern because people didn't want the
reservations to become more and more separate.

They didn't want them to be considered nations. So they did not write back
and the Native people were left out of the League of Nations, so that circle
was incomplete. In the League of Nations circle there was a southern door,
the yellow people; there was a western door, the black people; there was a
northern door, the white people; but the eastern door was not attended.

The elders knew that peace would not come on the earth until the circle of
humanity is complete, until all the four colors sat in the circle and shared
their teachings, then peace would come on earth.

So they knew things would happen. Things would speed up a little bit. There
would be a cobweb built around the earth, and people would talk across this
cobweb. When this talking cobweb, the telephone, was built around the
earth, a sign of life would appear in the east, but it would tilt and bring
death. It would come with the sun.
But the sun itself would rise one day not in the east but in the west. So the
elders said when you see the sun rising in the east and you see the sign of
life reversed and tilted in the east, you know that the Great Death is to
come upon the earth, and now the Great Spirit will grab the earth again in
His hand and shake it and this shaking will be worse than the first.

So the sign of life reversed and tilted, we call that the Swastika, and the
rising sun in the east was the rising sun of Japan. These two symbols are
carved in stone in Arizona. When the elders saw these two flags, these were
the signs that the earth was to be shaken again.

The worse misuse of the Guardianship of the fire is called the "gourd of
ashes". They said the gourd of ashes will fall from the air. It will make the
people like blades of grass in the prairie fire and things will not grow for
many seasons. I saw on television not too long ago that they were talking
about the atomic bomb, the gourd of ashes.

They said it was the best-kept secret in the history of the United States.,
The elders wanted to speak about it in 1920. They would have spoken of it
and foretold it's coming if they could have entered into the League of
Nations. The elders tried to contact President Roosevelt and ask him not to
use the gourd of ashes because it would have a great effect on the earth
and eventually cause even greater destruction and a the Third Shaking of
the Earth, the Third World War. I'll get to that in a few minutes.

So they knew after the Second Shaking of the Earth when they saw the
gourd of ashes fall from the sky then there would be an attempt to make
peace on the other side of this land.

And because the peace attempt on the west coast had failed, they would
build a special house on the east coast of this Turtle Island, and all the
nations and peoples of the earth would come to this house and it would be
called the House of Mica and it would shine like the mica on the desert
shines.
So the elders began to see they were building the United Nations made out
of glass that reflects like the mica on the desert so they knew this was the
House of mica and all the peoples of the earth should go to it.

So they met and talked about this. They said that in the 1920's they had
written and they had not been responded to, so they said this time we
better go to the front door of the House of Mica because things might get a
lot worse. So elders representing a number of tribes I believe drove to New
York City. When the United Nations opened they went to the front door of
the house of Mica and they said these words:

"We represent the indigenous people of North America and we wish to

address the nations of the Earth. We're going to give you four days to
consider whether or not we will be allowed to speak."

They retreated to one of the Six Nations Reserves in New York State. The
Six Nations Reserves are keepers of the Great Law of Peace of the prophet
that appeared here in North America, Dagonnorida. And this Law of Peace is
still recited, it takes four days between sunrise and noon.

Each year an Indian, by memory, must recite it about this time of year. Four
days later they came back and I believe the nations of the earth heard that
the Indians had come to the door. And they voted to let the Indians in.

They wanted to hear what they had to say. But the United States is one of
five nations of the United Nations with a veto power and still they were
concerned because this time the Native sovereignty was even stronger. And
I believe they vetoed the entrance of the Native people.

So then they knew other things would happen on the Earth, and the United
Nations would not bring peace on earth but there would be continuing and
deepening confusion. And that the little wars would get worse. So they
retreated to the Six Nations Reserve and they talked about this and they
said the time is really getting close now 1949.

They said, "We're going to divide the United States into four sections and
each year we're going to have a gathering. We're going to call these the
'White of Peace Gatherings'." They began to have these around 1950. And
they authorized certain men to speak in English for the first time about
these prophecies.

One that I used to listen to many times, over and over, was Thomas Benyaka.
He is a Hopi man. I believe he is still living. He was authorized to speak in
English about what was on the stone tablets and he has dedicated his
lifetime to doing this. And they began to tell us at these gatherings, they
said "In your lifetime you're going to see things happen" It was strange
when they said it in the 1950's and 1960's but now it seems very clear.

But then it was unusual. They said, "You're going to see a time in your life
when men are going to become women.

The Great Spirit is going to make a man on the earth. He made him a man but
this man is going to say, "I know more than the Great Spirit. I'm going to
change myself to be a woman:" And they will even nurse children. The Great
Spirit is going to make the woman on the earth. She's going to say, "I know
more than the Great Spirit. I want to be a man. And she will be physically a
man." This sounded strange. And maybe in a vision they saw Boy-George.

They said "You're going to see a time in your lifetime when the human beings
are going to find the blueprint that makes us." They call that now, DNA,
deoxyribonucleic acid. They said, "They re going to cut this blueprint."

They call that now, genetic splicing. And they said, "They're going to make
new animals upon the earth, and they're going to think these are going to
help us. And it's going to seem like they do help us.

But maybe the grandchildren and greatgrandchildren are going to suffer." I

don't know if you heard on the news last night in the United States now they
have genetically spliced a new germ, never before released in the
environment.

They want to release this germ into the cottonfields of the south because
they say it will rejuvenate and strengthen the cotton.
They had scientists on the CBS Evening News the other night talking about
it. One scientist said what the elders said in the 1950's, that this will not
harm us. We've put it in a lot of tests.

And the other scientist said what the elders also said, no, this has never
before been in the environment. We have no idea what it will do. The elders
spoke of it long ago.

They said it would see harmless, but it may be able to hurt the
greatgrandchildren. The elders said long ago, "They will release these things,
they will use them." This is going to be released not too long from now. They
are making new animals.

The elders talked about this. They said, "You will see new animals, and even
the old animals will come back, animals that people thought had disappeared.
They will find them here and there. They'll begin to reappear."

They said (and I know many of you are from tribes that also have this
prophecy, "You're going to see a time when the eagle will fly its highest in
the night and it will land upon the moon." Some tribes say the eagle will
circle the moon.

Some tribes say the eagle will fly it's highest in the night. "And at that
time," they say, "Many of the Native people will be sleeping," which
symbolically means they have lost their teachings.

There are some tribes that say it will be as if they are frozen: they've been
through the long winter. But they say, "When the eagle flies it's highest in
the night, that will be the first light of a new day.

That will be the first thawing of spring." Of course, at the first light of a
new day, if you've stayed up all night, you notice it's really dark. And the
first light, you want to see it, but you can't. It sneaks up on you.

You want to see it change but it's dark and then pretty soon it's getting
light before you know it. We're at that time now. The Eagle has landed on
the moon, 1969. When that spaceship landed they sent back the message,
"The Eagle has landed."
Traditionally, Native people from clear up in the Inuit region, they have
shared with us this prophecy, clear down to the Quechuas in South America.
They shared with us that they have this prophecy.

When they heard those first words, "The Eagle has landed," they knew that
was the start of a new time and a new power for Native people.

There was absolutely nothing strong before us now. We may do anything we

wish. In 1776 when the United States Government printed the dollar, in one
claw [of the eagle], if you've ever noticed, there is an olive branch in this
claw.

They said that represented peace. The Indian elders shared with me in
South Dakota that to them that represents the enslavement of black people.
In the prophecies of the Six Nations people they say there will be two great
uprisings by black people to free themselves. We've seen one about 1964.

There will be a second, more violent one to come. I'll get back to what that
means in a minute. In the other claw is 13 arrows.

The founding fathers of the United States said that represents the 13
States. But the elders say that represents the enslavement of the Native
people. When the Eagle landed on the moon, they decided to print a special
silver dollar to commemorate that. I don't know how many of you noticed it.

The original design showed the spaceship landing on the moon but at the last
minute it was changed to an actual eagle. And in the eagle's claws is the olive
branch, but the arrows are gone. The elders said, "That's our prophecy we
have been released."

There was one more uprising coming for the black race of people and then
they will be released and this is also going to have an effect on Native
people, a good effect. There's a whole new set of prophecies from the
Iriquois people about that and I won't have time to go into tht this morning.

But we're in that time now. We're between the first light of a new day and
the sunrise. The sunrise is about to come and when it comes up everyone is
going to see it. But you know how it is in the village there's a few people that
get up early, and there are some that sleep until noon. I'm probably one of
those that sleeps until noon.

They said when that Eagle lands on the moon, the powers will begin to come
back to us. As an alcoholic person, I feel that one of our greatest diseases is
alcoholism.

Within seven days of the time of the Eagle landing on the moon, the first
Native alcoholism program was started on an Apache reservation in Arizona.

Within seven days of the time the Eagle landed on the moon, the Freedom of
Indian Religion Act was introduced into the United States Congress.

Eventually it was passed in November of 1978, signed by President Carter,

making the song that Kevin [Kevin Locke, a famous Indian Baha'i who spends
his time travelling around the world sharing the North American Indian
culture through dance and music] sang legal to sing in every state of the
United States. It was punishable at one time to go to jail for 10 years
and/or a $10,000 fine for singing a song or doing a suat.

This was changed in 1978 the legislation was introduced in 1969, less than
seven days after the Eagle landed on the moon. These are the physical
manifestations of the spiritual prophecies that we have.

So he said at this time you're going to see that things will speed up, that
people on the earth will move faster and faster. Grandchildren will not have
time for grandparents. Parents will not have time for children. It will seem
like time is going faster and faster. The elders advised us that as things
speed up, you yourself should slow down. The faster things go, the slower
you go.

Because there's going to come a time when the earth is going to be shaken a
third time. The Great Spirit has been shaking the earth two times: the First
and Second World Wars to remind us that we are a human family, to remind
us that we should have greeted each other as brothers and sisters. We had
a chance after each shaking to come together in a circle that would have
brought peace on earth, but we missed that.
Tonight they were talking on the news about the sign for the Third Shaking
of the Earth. I heard it while sitting in the airport after I missed my plane.

They said they're going to build what the elders called the "house in the
sky". In the 1950's they talked about this: they will build a house and throw
it in the sky. When you see people living in the sky on a permanent basis, you
will know the Great Spirit is about to grab the earth, this time not with one
hand, but with both hands.

Many of you of Native background may have heard "the spirits will warn you
twice, but the third time you stand alone." We've had two warnings, the
first two World Wars, but now we stand alone in the third one.

As it says in the Baha'i Writings, there will be no-one protected. When this
house is in the sky, the Great Spirit is going to shake the Earth a third time
and whoever dropped that gourd of ashes, upon them it is going to drop.

They say at that time there will be villages in this land so great that when
you stand in the villages you will not be able to see out, and in the prophecies
these are called "villages of stone", or "prairies of stone". And they said the
stone will grow up from the ground and you will not be able to see beyond the
village.

At the center of each and every one of these villages will be Native people,
and they will walk as "hollow" shells upon a "prairie of stone". They said
"hollow shells" which means they will have lost any of their traditional
understandings; they will be empty within.

They said after the Eagle lands on the moon some of these people will begin
to leave these "prairies of stone" and come home and take up some of the
old ways and begin to make themselves reborn, because it's a new day. But
many will not. And they said there's going to come a time when in the
morning the sun is going to rise and this village of stone will be there, and in
the evening there would just be steam coming from the ground.

They will be as steam. And in the center of many of those villages of stone
when they turn to steam, the Native people will turn to steam also because
they never woke up and left the village. And this used to bother me when I
was a young man. I used to ask the elders, "Isn't there anything we can do?"
And they said, well, it's just that way that if a person does not have the
spiritual eyes to see, it's very hard to show them. Or if they don't have the
ears to hear, it's very hard to speak with them. We wish that we could go
get them all but we can't. It's just that some are not going to wake up. But
some will wake up .

And so they say there's going to be the Third Shaking of the Earth. It's not
going to be a good thing to see but we will survive it. We will survive it.

And when we survive it, then there's going to be another attempt to make a
circle of the human beings on the earth. And this time the Native people will
not have to petition to join but will be invited to enter the circle because
they say the attitude towards us will have changed by then, and people will
let us into the circle and all the four colors of the four directions will share
their wisdom, and there will be a peace on earth. This is coming close.

A lot of times when I share this message of the prophecies, people say,
"Can't we change it? Could we stop it?" The answer is yes. The prophecies
are always "either/or". We could have come together way back there in
1565, and we could have had a great civilization, but we didn't. Always along
the path of these prophecies, we could have come together. We still could.
If we could stop the racial and religious disharmony, we would not have to go
through this third shaking.

The elders say the chance of that is pretty slim. It seems to me like it's
pretty slim, too. But they say what we can do is we can "cushion" it. The word
we use is "cushion". We can cushion it so it won't be quite as bad. How do we
do this? We do this by sharing the teaching that will reunite us. The Hopis in
their prophecies say there will be a religion that comes here. Maybe it will
be true and bring unity, or maybe it will not be true and not bring unity.

If it does not bring unity, a second religion will come, and the people of this
religion are known in the Hopi language as the Bahani, the people of Baha. Ni
means "people of". So I was looking for the people of Baha. I wondered who
the people of Baha were. I was a Baha'i for quite a while before somebody
told me that baha'i means "people of Bah". I thought, "0 my God!" Here I
was looking for it all these years and I never even noticed it! And I found it!

I was stubborn and didn't want to become a "Baha'i but my grandfather who
passed away, you know he must have found out about it in the next realm
because he came back to me four times to tell me, "Hey, look at that again,
look at that again. Look one more time." Bah, it means "light or glory".

Baha'i means "follower of the light", or the "people of Bah". We've been
waiting for these people for a long time. They say they will bring a Teaching
that will unite the earth. So we need to share this Teaching. They say the
fire will come from the North. So here we are, in a circle, in the North,
talking about the Bahnis, the "people of Bah", and the teachings of
Baha'u'llah.

When I heard about these [prophecies], none of them made any sense. Now
most of it has come to pass. Last I heard on the news, they said the "house
in the sky" will be put up in 1996. It was going to be put up sooner, but it's
been postponed for four years. Maybe it will be postponed again. But in not
too long it's going to go up. The earth as we know it is going to change.

Each of us carry, I believe, a sacred drop of light. In the Indian teachings,

they say it takes nine ancestors to agree before conception can occur. Nine
ancestors of the husband and the wife have to come together in the spiritual
realm and say; "We will bring life," before a woman can become pregnant. At
that time the soul is born.

I delivered my first daughter and a man from the Blood Reserve who went to
South Dakota and was the first Bloodin 82 years he came to my house by
coincidence four days before my wife went into labor. Each night we had a
ceremony, and on the morning after the fourth ceremony my wife went into
labor at sunrise. And that night, at sunset, my daughter was born. And I took
her out, and I cut the cord, and I noticed at the sundance that what people
do in South Dakota, they pass the pipe three times, and they don't take it
until the fourth time. And even in Washington I've heard the coming of a
child is like the coming of a new pipe. When I was delivering my daughter I
happened to notice that the skull came out three times, and on the fourth
time, her head came out like the coming of a pipe. First I put her on the
mother instantly and after a few minutes I cleaned her up and I washed her
up. There was a circle of people just about like this around my wife and
there were people of different backgrounds and we looked up and through
the ceiling came a small drop of blue light. When it got close to the child you
could not see it. That was her soul, she will carry that light throughout
earth. In that is her special uniqueness as a being, a spiritual power. In that
are gifts.

After we go through and then we carry it back here and it radiates to she
mind but for some reason in this cycle we've been in the lower natures, the
animal thought. But now we're going into the human world. The mind is going
to be opened up to the radiance of our own soul and the cycle of the human
beings is going to come back, and something so good is going to happen on the
earth that it cannot even be described. The elders say it in different ways.
They say, there will be grass at that time when they make that circle and
bring the peace on earth. There will be blades of grass that have not quite
come through the earth. Even they will try to push themselves up to be part
of that day when the sun rises. The elders explain it like this: out here,
outside this building, long before there was a fair ground here there were
Native people. They say many of these Native people in different tribes
were aware of these things, and they told the children. Their children grew
up.

You know, one time the scientist came to the Hopis and they said, "We want
to take a piece of the stone tablets." They said "We want to take the stone
tablets to a scientific laboratory to determine how old they are." The Hopis
said, "We know how old they are". Well, the scientists said, "We want to
confirm it." Well, the Hopis let them take a little piece, and they did that by
the carbon dating method. They found these tablets were at least 10,000
years old, maybe 50,000. So when I say, "Thousands of years ago, there
were Native people that spoke of these things," that's exactly what I mean.
They told their children and thousands of years ago, their children grew up
and told their children, and then their children grew up and told their
children. And they spoke about the people that will live in this time.

And now it is us. We are the ones they spoke of long ago. They say to be
alive, to come into creation and to live upon the earth at this time is a great
honor. In the cycle of time, from the beginning to the end, this time we are
in now will change the purification of all things. They say this is the hardest
time to live, but it is also the greatest honor to be alive to live and see this.

In the state of Washington in 1855 they signed treaties and made 22 Indian
reservations. They wanted to do it before there were problems. They
thought they were advanced at the time, they had learned from what had
happened elsewhere. They made 22 Indian reservations and the elders spoke
in 1855 and they said, "We're going to become weaker, and you are going to
become stronger, and if you wish to break these treacies, you may do so."
They said, "But there's going to come a time when the earth itself will rise
up and purify itself and this will be announced. It will be announced by the
speaking of more than 16 Great Ones on the West Coast of this land.

And when the 16 Great Ones speak, the purification will have begun. There
was a new [?] five years ago when Mt. Saint Helens, one of the 16 great
volcanoes on the West Coast of this land, "spoke". The Seattle Times did a
special interest story. They went over to Watson Totus and Woodrow Bill. It
was Woodrow Bill's son that made this hoop that I brought here today, my
good brother Randolf Bill. They asked Watson Totus and Woodrow Bill as
spiritual people of the Yakuma nation, "What does this mean?" What they
said was so profound that they didn't put it on page 16, they put it on the
front page of the Seattle Times. They said, "This means that the races and
nations of the earth should slow down and come together and talk to each
other." That's exactly what it meant. And we had four years and four days
to do that.

Four years and four days later, Mt. Saint Helens erupted the second time.
That was last spring, just about this time. That was our grace period. We
could have still done something really good. But now things are going to
speed up. Now things are going to really happen fast. Time is going to go so
fast. The more we share the Message, the more we will cushion the Third
Shaking of the Earth, and the easier it will be on ourselves and others.

A good friend of mine in Montana whose grandmother just passed away last
year, the last thing she said to him was "Make a place for yourself in the
mountains because the air will become so hot down here," where they were
at on a reservation, that it would be hard to breath. And it won't be long,
That's the last thing she told her grandson when she was passing. Go on the
mountains and make a place for yourself. Put some things there that you can
survive with. People are going to run to the mountains to survive and the
Native people must be ready for this.
Lakota Prophecies

Mitakuye (my relative),

I, Chief Arvol Looking Horse, of the Lakota, Dakota, and Nakota Nation, ask
you to understand an Indigenous perspective on what has happened in
America, what we call "Turtle Island." My words seek to unite the global
community through a message from our sacred ceremonies to unite
spiritually, each in our own ways of beliefs in the Creator.

We have been warned from Ancient Prophecies of these times we live in

today, but have also been given a very important message about a solution to
turn these terrible times around.

To understand the depth of this message you must recognize the importance
of Sacred Sites and realize the interconnectedness of what is happening
today, in reflection of the continued massacres that are occurring on other
lands and our own Americas.

I have been learning about these important issues since the age of 12, upon
receiving the Sacred White Buffalo Calf Pipe Bundle and its teachings. Our
people have striven to protect Sacred Sites from the beginning of time.
These places have been violated for centuries and have brought us to the
predicament that we are in at the global level.

Look around you. Our Mother Earth is very ill from these violations, and we
are on the brink of destroying the possibility of a healthy and nurturing
survival for generations to come, our children's children.

Our ancestors have been trying to protect our Sacred Site called the
Sacred Black Hills in South Dakota, "Heart of Everything That Is," from
continued violations. Our ancestors never saw a satellite view of this site,
but now that those pictures are available, we see that it is in the shape of a
heart and, when fast-forwarded, it looks like a heart pumping.
The Dine have been protecting Big Mountain, calling it the liver, and we are
suffering and going to suffer more from the extraction of the coal from
there and the poison processes used in doing so.

The Aborigines have warned of the contaminating effects of global warming

on the Coral Reefs, which they see as Mother Earth's blood purifier.

The Indigenous people of the rainforest relay that the rainforest are the
lungs of the planet and need protection.

The Gwich'in Nation has had to face oil drilling in the Arctic National
Wildlife Refuge coastal plain, also known to the Gwich'in as "Where life
begins!"

The coastal plain is the birthplace of many life forms of the Animal Nations.
The death of these Animal Nations will destroy Indigenous Nations in this
territory.

As these destructive developments continue all over the world, we will

witness many more extinct Animal, Plant, and Human Nations, because of
mankind's misuse of power and their lack of understanding of the "balance
of life."

The Indigenous people warn that these destructive developments will cause
havoc globally. There are many, many more Indigenous awarenesses and
knowledge about Mother Earth's Sacred Sites, her Chakras, connections to
our spirit that will surely affect our future generations.

There needs to be a fast move toward other forms of energy that are safe
for all Nations upon Mother Earth. We need to understand the types of
minds that are continuing to destroy the spirit of our whole global
community. Unless we do this, the powers of destruction will overwhelm us.
Our Ancestors foretold that water would someday be for sale. Back then,
this was hard to believe, since the water was so plentiful, so pure, and so full
of energy, nutrition, and spirit.
Today we have to buy pure water, and even then the nutritional minerals
have been taken out; it's just empty liquid. Someday water will be like gold,
too expensive to afford.

Not everyone will have the right to drink safe water. We fail to appreciate
and honor our Sacred Sites, ripping out the minerals and gifts that lay
underneath them as if Mother Earth were simply a resource, instead of the
Source of Life itself.

Attacking Nations and having to utilize more resources to carry out

destruction in the name of peace is not the answer! We need to understand
how all these decisions affect the Global Nation; we will not be immune to its
repercussions. Allowing continual contamination of our food and land is
affecting the way we think.

A "disease of the mind" has set in world leaders and many members of our
global community, with their belief that a solution of retaliation and
destruction of peoples will bring Peace.

In our Prophecies it is told that we are now at the crossroads: Either unite
spiritually as a Global Nation, or be faced with chaos, disasters, diseases,
and tears from our relatives' eyes.

We are the only species that is destroying the Source of Life, meaning
Mother Earth, in the name of power, mineral resources, and ownership of
land, using chemicals and methods of warfare that are doing irreversible
damage, as Mother Earth is becoming tired and cannot sustain any more
impacts of war.

I ask you to join me on this endeavor. Our vision is for the Peoples of all
continents, regardless of their beliefs in the Creator, to come together as
one at their Sacred Sites to pray and meditate and commune with one
another, thus promoting an energy shift to heal our Mother Earth and
achieve a universal consciousness toward attaining Peace.

As each day passes, I ask all Nations to begin a global effort, and remember
to give thanks for the Sacred Food that has been gifted to us by our
Mother Earth, so the nutritional energy of medicine can be guided to heal
our minds and spirits.

This new millennium will usher in an age of harmony or it will bring the end of
life as we know it. Starvation, war, and toxic waste have been the hallmark
of the Great Myth of Progress and Development that ruled the last
millennium.

To us, as caretakers of the heart of Mother Earth, falls the responsibility

of turning back the powers of destruction.You yourself are the one who must
decide.

You alone - and only you - can make this crucial choice, to walk in honor or to
dishonor your relatives. On your decision depends the fate of the entire
World.

Each of us is put here in this time and this place to personally decide the
future of humankind.

Did you think the Creator would create unnecessary people in a time of such
terrible danger?

Know that you yourself are essential to this World. Believe that! Understand
both the blessing and the burden of that. You yourself are desperately
needed to save the soul of this World. Did you think you were put here for
something less? In a Sacred Hoop of Life, there is no beginning and no
ending!

Out in the West, Mount St. Helens volcano - that's a sign.

There's going to be earthquakes.
Maybe half of California and half of Washington and Oregon will go into the
water.
The same in the East and in the South.
You're going to have volcanoes and earthquakes and hurricanes.
Mohawk Prophecies

Mohawk Prophecy of the Seventh Generation

According to the prophecy of the Seventh Generation, seven generations

after contact with the Europeans the Onkwehonwe would see the day when
the elm trees would die. The prophecy said that strange animals would be
born deformed and without the proper limbs. Huge stone monsters would
tear open the face of the earth. The rivers would burn. The air would burn
the eyes of man. According to the prophecy of the Seventh Generation the
Onkwehonwe would see the time when the birds would fall from the sky. The
fish would die in the water. And man would grow ashamed of the way that he
had treated his Mother and Provider, the Earth.

Finally, according to this prophecy, after seven generations of living in close

contact with the Europeans, the Onkwehonwe would rise up and demand that
their rights and stewardship over the Earth be respected and restored.
According to the wisdom of this prophecy, men and women would one day
turn to the Onkwehonwe for both guidance and direction. It is up to the
present generation of youth of the Kanienkehaka to provide leadership and
example to all who have failed. The children of the Kanienkehaka are the
seventh generation.

Deganawidah: The Two Serpents

American Prophecies by Scott Peterson

When Deganawidah was leaving the Indians in the Bay of Quinte in Ontario,
he told the Indian people that they would face a time of great suffering.
They would distrust their leaders and the principles of peace of the League,
and a great white serpent was to come upon the Iroquois, and that for a time
it would intermingle with the Indian serpent as a friend.

This serpent would in time become so powerful that it would attempt to

destroy the Indian, and the serpent is described as choking the life's blood
out of the Indian people. Deganawidah told the Indians that they would be in
such a terrible state at this point that all hope would seem to be lost, and he
told them that when things looked their darkest a red serpent would come
from the north and approach the white serpent, which would be terrified,
and upon seeing the red serpent he would release the Indian, who would fall
to the ground almost like a helpless child, and the white serpent would turn
all its attention to the red serpent. The bewilderment would cause the white
serpent to accept the red one momentarily.

The white serpent would be stunned and take part of the red serpent and
accept him. Then there is a heated argument and a fight. And then the
Indian revives and crawls toward the land of the hilly country, and then he
would assemble his people together, and they would renew their faith and
the principles of peace that Deganawidah had established.

There would at the same time exist among the Indians a great love and
forgiveness for his brother, and in this gathering would come streams from
all over -- not only the Iroquois but from all over -- and they would gather in
this hilly country, and they would renew their friendship. And Deganawidah
said they would remain neutral in this fight between the white and red
serpents.
At the time they were watching the two serpents licked in this battle, a
great message would come to them, which would make them ever so humble,
and when they become that humble, they will be waiting for a young leader,
an Indian boy, possibly in his teens, who would be a choice seer. Nobody
knows who he is or where he comes from, but he will be given great power,
and would be heard by thousands, and he would give them the guidance and
the hope to refrain from going back to their land and he would be the
accepted leader.

And Deganawidah said that they will gather in the land of the hilly country,
beneath the branches of an elm tree, and they should burn tobacco and call
upon Deganawidah by name when facing the darkest hours, and he will return.
Deganawidah said that as the choice seer speaks to the Indians that number
as the blades of grass, and he would be heard by all at the same time, and as
the Indians are gathered watching the fight, they notice from the south a
black serpent coming from the sea, and he is described as dripping with salt
water, and as he stands there, he rests for a spell to get his breath, all the
time watching to the north to the land where the white and red serpents are
fighting.

Deganawidah said that the battle between the white and the red serpents
opened very slowly but would then become so violent that the mountains
would crack and the rivers would boil and the fish would turn up on their
bellies. He said that there would be no leaves on the trees in that area.

There would be no grass, and that strange bugs and beetles would crawl
from the ground and attack both serpents, and he said that a great heat
would cause the stench of death to sicken both serpents.

And then, as the boy seer is watching this fight, the red serpent reaches
around the back of the white serpent and pulls from him a hair which is
carried toward the south by a great wind into the waiting hands of the black
serpent, and as the black serpent studies this hair, it suddenly turns into a
woman, a white woman who tells him things that he knows to be true but he
wants to hear them again.
When this white woman finishes telling these things, he takes her and gently
places her on a rock with great love and respect, and then he becomes
infuriated at what he has heard, so he makes a beeline for the north, and he
enters the battle between the red and white serpents with such speed and
anger that he defeats the two serpents, who have already been battle
weary.

When he finishes, he stand on the chest of the white serpent, and he boasts
and puts his chest out like he¹s the conqueror, and he looks for another
serpent to conquer.

He looks to the land of the hilly country and then sees the Indian standing
with his arms folded and looking ever so noble that he knows that this Indian
is not the one to fight.

The next direction that he will face will be eastward and at that time he will
be momentarily blinded by a light that is many times brighter than the sun.

The light will be coming from the east to the west over the water, and when
the black serpent regains his sight, he becomes terrified and makes a
beeline for the sea.

He dips into the sea and swims away in a southerly direction, and shall never
again be seen by the Indians.

The white serpent revives, and he too sees the light, and he makes a feeble
attempt to gather himself and go toward that light.

A portion of the white serpent refuses to remain but instead makes its way
toward the land of the hilly country, and there he will join the Indian People
with a great love like that of a lost brother.

The rest of the white serpent would go to the sea and dip into the sea and
would be lost out of sight for a spell. Then suddenly the white serpent would
appear again on the top of the water and he would be slowly swimming
toward the light. Deganawidah said that the white serpent would never again
be troublesome to the Indian People.
The red serpent would revive and he would shiver with great fear when he
sees that light. He would crawl to the north and leave a bloody, shaky trail
northward, and he would never be seen again by the Indians. Deganawidah
said as this light approaches that he would be that light, and he would return
to his Indian People, and when he returns, the Indian People would be a
greater nation than they had ever been before.

The Seven Fires of the Anisinabe

Seven prophets came to Anishinabe at a time when the people were living a
full and peaceful life on the Northeastern coast of North America. These
prophets left the people with seven predictions of what the future would
bring. Each of the prophecies was called a fire and each fire referred to a
particular era of time that would come in the future. Thus, the teachings of
the seven prophets are now called the Seven Fires.

The first prophet said to the people, "In the time of the First Fire, the
Anishinabe nation will rise up and follow the sacred shell of the Midewiwin
Lodge. The Midewiwin Lodge will serve as a rallying point for the people and
its traditional ways will be the source of much strength. The Sacred Megis
will lead the way to the chosen ground of the Anishinabe.

You are to look for a turtle-shaped island that is linked to the purification of
the earth. You will find such an island at the beginning and at the end of your
journey. There will be seven stopping places along the way. You will know the
chosen ground has been reached when you come to a land where food grows
on water. If you do not move you will be destroyed."

The second prophet told the people, "You will know the Second Fire because
at this time the nation will be camped by a large body of water. In this time
the direction of the Sacred Shell will be lost. The Midewiwin will diminish in
strength, a boy will be born to point the way back to the traditional ways. He
will show the direction to the stepping stones to the future of the
Anishinabe people."

The third prophet said to the people, "In the Third Fire, the Anishinabe will
find the path to their chosen ground, a land in the west to which they must
move their families. This will be the land where food grows on water."
The Fourth Fire was originally given to the people by two prophets. They
come as one. They told of the coming of the Light Skinned race. One of the
prophets said, "You will know the future of our people by the face the Light
Skinned race wears. If they come wearing the face of brotherhood then
there will come a time of wonderful change for generations to come.

They will bring new knowledge and articles that can be joined with the
knowledge of this country, in this way, two nations will join to make a mighty
nation. This new nation will be joined by two more so that four will form the
mightiest nation of all. You will know the face of the brotherhood if the light
skinned race comes carrying no weapons. If they come bearing only their
knowledge and a hand shake."

The other prophet said, "Beware if the Light Skinned race comes wearing
the face of death. You must be careful because the face of brotherhood and
the face of death look very much alike. If they come carrying a weapon,
beware. If they come in suffering, they could fool you. Their hearts may be
filled with greed for the riches of this land. If they are indeed your
brothers, let them prove it. Do not accept them in total trust. You shall know
that the face they wear is one of death if the rivers run with poison and the
fish become unfit to eat. You shall know them by these many things."

The fifth Prophet said, "In the time of the Fifth Fire there will come a time
of great struggle that will grip the lives of all Native people. At the warning
of this Fire there will come among the people one who holds a promise of
great joy and salvation. If the people accept this promise of a new way and
abandon the old teachings, then the struggle of the Fifth Fire will be with
the people for many generations. The promise that comes will prove to be a
false promise. All those who accept this promise will cause the near
destruction of the people."

The prophet of the Sixth Fire said, "In the time of the Sixth Fire it will be
evident that the promise of the Fifth Fire came in a false way. Those
deceived by this promise will take their children away from the teachings of
the Elders; grandsons and granddaughters will turn against the Elders. In
this way, the Elders will lose their reason for living; they will lose their
purpose in life. At this time a new sickness will come among the people. The
balance of many people will be disturbed. The cup of life will almost be
spilled. The cup of life will almost become the cup of grief."

At the time of these predictions, many people scoffed at the prophets. They
then had medicines to keep away sickness. They were then healthy and happy
as a people. These were the people who chose to stay behind in the great
migration of the Anishinabe. These people were the first to have contact
with the Light Skinned race.

They would suffer the most. When the Fifth Fire came to pass, a great
struggle did indeed grip the lives of all Native people. The Light Skinned
race launched a military attack on the Indian people through-out the country
aimed at taking away their land and their independence as a free and
sovereign people. It is now felt that the false promise that came at the end
of the Fifth Fire was the materials and riches embodied in the way of life of
the light skinned race.

Those who abandoned the ancient ways and accepted this new promise were
a big factor in causing the near destruction of the Native people of this
land. When the Sixth Fire came to be, the words of the prophet rang true as
the children were taken away from the teachings of the Elders. The
boarding school era of "civilizing" Indian children had begun. The Indian
language and religion were taken from the children. The people started dying
at an early age... they had lost their will to live and their purpose in living.

In the confusing times of the Sixth Fire, it is said that a group of

visionaries came among the Anishinabe. They gathered all the priests of the
Midewiwin Lodge. They told the priests that the Midewiwin Way was in
danger of being destroyed. They gathered all the sacred bundles. They
gathered all the scrolls that recorded the ceremonies. All these things were
placed in a hollowed out log from the ironwood tree. Men were lowered over
a cliff by long ropes.

They dug a hole in the cliff and buried the log where no one could find it.
Thus the teachings of the Elders were hidden out of sight but not out of
memory. It was said that when the time came that the Indian people could
practice their religion without fear that a little boy would dream where the
Ironwood log, full of the Sacred Bundles and Scrolls were buried. He would
lead his people to the place.

The Seventh Prophet that came to the people long ago was said to be
different from the other prophets. He was young and had a strange light in
his eyes. He said, "In the time of the Seventh Fire, New People will emerge.
They will retrace their steps to find what was left by the trail. Their steps
will take them to the Elders who they will ask to guide them on their
journey. But many of the Elders will have fallen asleep. They will awaken to
this new time with nothing to offer. Some of the Elders will be silent out of
fear. Some of the Elders will be silent because no one will ask anything of
them.

The New People will have to be careful in how they approach the Elders. The
task of the New People will not be easy. If the New People will remain strong
in their Quest, the Water Drum of the Midewiwin Lodge will again sound its
voice. There will be a Rebirth of the Anishinabe Nation and a rekindling of
old flames. The Sacred Fire will again be lit. It is at this time that the Light
Skinned race will be given a choice between two roads. If they choose the
right road, then the Seventh Fire will light the Eighth and final Fire, an
eternal Fire of peace, love, brotherhood and sisterhood. If the light skinned
race makes the wrong choice of roads, the destruction which they brought
with them in coming to this country will come back at them and cause much
suffering and death to all the Earth's people.

Traditional Midewiwin people from other Nations have interpreted the two
roads that face the Light Skinned race as the road to technology and the
other to spiritualism. They feel that the road to technology represents a
continuation of Head-Long rush to technological development.

This is the road that has lead to modern society, to a damaged and seared
Earth. Could it be that the road to technology represents a rush to
destruction? The road to Spirituality represents the slower path that
traditional Native People have traveled and are now seeking again.

The Earth is not scorched on this trail. The grass is still growing there. The
prophet of the Fourth Fire spoke of a time when "two Nations will join to
make a Mighty Nation."
He was speaking of the coming of the Light Skinned race and the face of
brotherhood that the Light Skinned Brother could be wearing. It is obvious
from the history of this country that this was not the face worn by the
Light Skinned race as a whole - that the Mighty Nation spoken of in the
Fourth Fire has never been formed.
Onondaga Prophecies

"We have to get back to the spiritual law if we are to survive."

The speaker is a Native American leader in conversation with Bill Moyers on

the television special Moyers/Oren Lyons the Faithkeeper. July 1991

As a "Faithkeeper," Oren Lyons is the person responsible for passing on and

interpreting his people's traditions, legends, and prophecies. He is a Chief of
the Turtle Clan of the Onondaga, one of the Six Nations in the Iroquois
Confederation. Moyers talks with him in his cabin on Onondaga land in
upstate New York.

Lyons' words are startling both for their historical perspective and their
practical value. Giving a history lesson which will be news to many Americans,
he explains how the Founding Fathers of the United States drew upon the
American system of government when making their plans for the nation. As
early as 1744, Benjamin Franklin was present at a meeting where the Six
Nation chiefs advised the governors of Delaware, New York, and
Pennsylvania to form an indivisible union.
People around the world today are looking to America for democracy but
"America got the ideas of democracy and freedom and peace from the
Indians," Lyons explains.

Except for one important ingredient, Lyons contends. "They refused to use
spirituality as a part of the nation. Our advice to you was a spiritual center,"
whereas the United States system separates church and state.

"We said, 'Problem coming.' "According to Lyons, the problems which can be
traced to a lack of a spiritual law, have kept coming through the centuries.

The Chief is a prominent member of the international environmental

movement, and he speaks eloquently and forcefully about the degradation of
the earth."The law says if you poison your water, you'll die. The law says
that if you poison the air, you'll suffer. The law says if you degrade where
you live, you'll suffer. The law says all of this, and if you don't learn that,
you can only suffer."

The prophecies of the Onondaga Nation underscore this point.

In 1799 the legendary figure Ganyahdiyok or "Handsome Lake" was given a

vision of the future and saw environmental disasters including air and water
pollution.

The Chief explains what this legend means to him. "It's certain that this will
happen, but it's up to each generation to see that it doesn't happen in your
generation."

Lyons comes across in this one-hour program as a practical visionary. He is

also an accomplished artist. As he tells the stories which have guided his
people through the centuries, the cameras pan across his paintings of the
Great Tree of Peace and the early history of his people.

Repeatedly, he emphasizes the importance of community to the Onondaga,

from their games to their ceremonies.On the practical level, he talks about
living day by day, the importance of not taking ourselves too seriously, and
accountability to the next generation."When you sit in council for the
welfare of the people," he says, "you council for the welfare of the seventh
generation to come so that when their time comes here they may enjoy the
same thing that you're enjoying now.

I'm sitting here as the seventh generation because seven generations ago,
those people were looking out for me."

Lyons' discussion of time is particularly interesting. "People don't operate in

the world time or, say, the time of the mountain. They operate in the time of
the human being. And that's probably not a good idea because the time of
the human being is rather short."

Without a reference point in the world's time, as we've seen in American

history, "You can get yourself and your people into a lot of trouble."

This long-term perspective is the essence of a spirituality which must be

recaptured for our sake and for the generations to come.

It's prophesied in our Instructions that the end of the world will be near
when the trees start dying from the tops down. That's what the maples are
doing today. Our Instructions say the time will come when there will be no
corn, when nothing will grow in the garden, when water will be filthy and
unfit to drink.

Then a great monster will rise up from the water and destroy mankind. One
of the names of that monster is "the sickness that eats you up inside" like
diabetes or cancer or AIDS. Maybe AIDS is the monster. It's coming. It's
already here.
Our prophet Handsome Lake told of it in the 1700s. He saw Four Beings, like
four angels, coming from the Four Directions. They told him what would
happen, how there would be diseases we'd never heard of before. You will
see many tears in this country. Then a great wind will come, a wind that will
make a hurricane seem like a whisper. It will cleanse the earth and return it
to its original state. That will be the punishment for what we've done to the
Creation.

Listen to the words of the Creator given to the first United Nations -- the
Haudenosaunee -- over 1,000 years ago.
The Chiefs of the Haudenosaunee shall be mentors of the people for all
time. The thickness of their skins shall be seven spans, which is to say that
they shall be proof against anger, offensive action, and criticism.

Their hearts shall be full of peace and good will, and their minds full of a
yearning for the welfare of the people.

With endless patience, they shall carry out their duty. Their firmness shall
be tempered with a tenderness for their people. Neither anger nor fury
shall find lodging in their minds, and all their words and actions shall be
marked by calm deliberation.

In every nation there are wise and good people. These should be appointed
Chiefs. They should be the advisors of their people and work for the good of
all the people., and their power comes from the "Great Peace."

A chief must never forget the Creator of mankind, never forget to ask the
Creator for help. The Creator will guide our thoughts and strengthen us as
we work to be faithful to our sacred trust and restore harmony among all
peoples, all living creatures, and Mother Earth.

We were instructed to carry a love for one another and to show a great
respect for all the beings of this earth.
In our ways spiritual consciousness is the highest form of politics. When
people cease to respect and express gratitude for these many things, then
all life will be destroyed, and human life on this planet will come to an end.

These are our times and responsibilities. Every human being has a sacred
duty to protect the welfare of our Mother Earth, from whom all life comes.

In order to do this we must recognize the enemy -- the one within us. We
must begin with ourselves.

We must live in harmony with the Natural World and recognize that
excessive exploitation can only lead to our own destruction.

We cannot trade the welfare of our future generations for profit now.

We must abide by the Natural Law or be victims of its ultimate reality.

We must stand together, the four sacred colors of humans, as the one
family we are, in the interest of peace.

We must abolish nuclear and conventional weapons of war. When warriors

are leaders, then you will have war. We must raise leaders of peace.

We must unite the religions of the world as the spiritual force strong
enough to prevail in peace.

It is no longer good enough to cry, "Peace."

We must act peace, live peace, and march in peace in alliance with the people
of the world.

We are the spiritual energy that is thousands times stronger than nuclear
energy.

Our energy in the combined will of all people with the spirit of the Natural
World, to be of one body, one heart and one mind for peace.
We propose, as a resolution for peace, that October 24th be designated as a
Day of Peace, and a world cease-fire take place in honor of our children and
the Seventh Generation to come.
 Sioux Prophecies

According to an Ogalala - or Sioux medicine man - "darkness would

descend over the tribe...the world would be out of balance. Floods,
fires and earthquakes would then ensue."

A White Buffalo Calf Woman will then purify the world. She will
then bring back harmony and spiritual balance.

White Buffalo Calf Woman

The White Buffalo Calf Woman, in Lakota mythology, is a sacred

woman of supernatural origin who gave the Lakota their "Seven
Sacred Rituals".

The traditional story is that, long ago there was a time of famine.
The chief of the Lakotas sent out two scouts to hunt for food. As
the scouts travelled they saw a figure in the distance. As they
approached they saw that it was a beautiful young woman in white
clothing.

One of the scouts was filled with desire for the woman. He
approached her, telling his companion he would attempt to embrace
the woman, and if he found her pleasing, he would claim her as a
wife.

His companion warned him that she appeared to be a sacred women,

and to do anything sacrilegious would be folly. The scout ignored his
advice.The companion watched as the scout approached and
embraced the woman, during which time a white cloud enveloped the
pair. After a while, the cloud disappeared and only the mysterious
woman remained.

The remaining scout was frightened, and began to draw his bow, but
the woman beckoned him forward, telling him that no harm would
come to him.

As the woman was fluent in Lakota, the young man decided she was
one of his tribe, and came forward. When he arrived, she pointed to
a spot on the ground where the other scout's bare bones lay. She
explained that the Crazy Buffalo had compelled the man to desire
her, and she had annihilated him.

The scout became even more frightened and again menaced her with
his bow.At this time, the woman explained that she was Wakan and
his weapons could not harm her. She further explained that if he
did as she instructed, no harm would befall him and that his tribe
would become more prosperous.

The scout promised to do what she instructed, and was told to

return to his encampment, call the Council and prepare a feast for
her arrival.The woman's name was Ptesan Wi which translated
White Buffalo Calf Woman. She taught the Lakotas many sacred
rituals and gave then the chununpa or sacred pipe which is the
holiest of all worship symbols. After teaching the people and giving
them her gifts, PtesanWi left them promising to return.

Later, the story became attributed to the goddess Wohpe, also

know as Whope, or Wope.

When Roman Catholic missionaries first came among the Lakota,

their stories of the Virgin Mary and Jesus became associated with
the legend of White Buffalo Calf Woman. The syncretic practice of
identifying Mary with PtesanWi and Jesus with the chununpa
continues among Lakota Christians to this day.

The story of PtesanWi is associated with the white buffalo.

Animals and Prophecy

North Dakota: White buffalo may herald hope and peace Grand
Forks Herald - June 8, 2008

One white bison calf is rare, but now Jamestown's bison herd
had two. The herd`s albino female, White Cloud, gave birth
last summer to a calf that`s been named Dakota Miracle. Over
the weekend, the staff at the National Buffalo Museum found
another white calf, born to a brown female in the herd. The
new calf appears to be an albino, but it's not yet known
whether it's a male or female.

Milwalkee: A farm in Wisconsin is quickly becoming hallowed

ground for American Indians with the birth of its third white
buffalo, an animal considered sacred by many tribes for its
potential to bring good fortune and peace. Thousands of
people stopped by Dave Heider's Janesville farm after the
birth of the first white buffalo, a female named Miracle who
died in 2004 at the age of 10. The second was born in 1996
but died after three days. Heider said he discovered the third
white buffalo, a newborn male, after a storm in late August.
Over the weekend, about 50 American Indians held a drum
ceremony to honor the calf, which has yet to be named, he
said.

Floyd "Looks for Buffalo" Hand, a medicine man in the Oglala

Sioux Tribe in Pine Ridge, S.D., said it was fate that the white
buffaloes chose one farm, which will likely become a focal
point for visitors, who make offerings such as tobacco and
dream catchers in the hopes of earning good fortune and
peace. The white buffalo is particularly sacred to the
Cheyenne, Sioux and other nomadic tribes of the Northern
Plains that once relied on the buffalo for subsistence.
 According to a version of the legend, a white buffalo,
disguised as a woman wearing white hides, appeared to two
men. One treated her with respect, and the other didn't. She
turned the disrespectful man into a pile of bones, and gave the
respectful one a pipe and taught his people rituals and music.
She transformed into a female white buffalo calf and
promised to return again.

That this latest birth is a male doesn't make it any less

significant in American Indian prophecies, which say that such
an animal will reunite all the races of man and restore balance
to the world, Hand said. He said the buffalo's coat will change
from white to black, red and yellow, the colors of the various
races of man, before turning brown again.

The birth of a white male buffalo means men need to take

responsibility for their families and the future of the tribe,
Hand said.The odds of a white buffalo are at least 1 in a
million, said Jim Matheson, assistant director of the National
Bison Association. Buffalo in general have been rare for years,
thought their numbers are increasing, with some 250,000 now
in the U.S., he said. Many people, like Heider, choose to raise
the animals for their meat, which is considered a healthier,
low-fat alternative to beef. Gary Adamson, 65, of Elkhorn,
who is of Choctaw and Cherokee heritage, said tribal elders
will help interpret the animal's significance.

Baby buffalo believed to be good luck charm - NBC - May 10, 2006
Evergreen: It's the first white buffalo calf ever born on the
ranch, which doubles as a wild game preserve. Out of 50 head,
the ranch now has three white buffalos. Some Native
American tribes believe the white buffalo is a sign of good
things to come. The ranch purchased two white Buffalo cows
from the White Elk Ranch in Gunnison last March. White
buffalos can fetch up to 10 times the average price of the
more common brown buffalo. The calf's father died last
winter making this baby buffalo the last generation to come
from the prized bull. "It's been a tough winter and it's a
promise of a great summer with the calves being born, but not
only the calves but a white calf," says Ronald Lewis, with Big E
Game Ranch. Lewis says he still hasn't been able to get close
enough to the calf, but he feels certain it's a bull, which is
even more rare.

This white buffalo is unique as it links to 9/11.

When a rare white buffalo was born Friday at a buffalo ranch

in Shelby County, owners Bob and Julie Allen thought the baby
had prophecy written in her genes. The white calf, regarded
as a sacred symbol by Lakota Sioux and other Plains Indian
tribes, is a granddaughter of the ranch's former big star,
award-winning bull Chief Joseph, a hefty 3,000-pound sire
that had cost the Allens $101,000.

The bull was struck by lightning on Sept. 11, 2001, and died
two weeks later. So the Allens, who own the Buffalo Crossing
Restaurant & Family Fun Ranch, were delighted by the calf's
birth. "The appearance of a white buffalo is regarded by some
followers of American Indian spirituality as on par with the
Christian idea of the second coming of Christ," said Bob
Pickering, a researcher at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in
Cody, Wyo.

As the story goes, Lakota Sioux rituals and beliefs were

brought to the tribe by a spiritual being known as the White
Buffalo Calf Woman, Pickering said. A white buffalo calf is
interpreted as the sacred reincarnation of the woman, he said.
Historically, the white buffalo is probably about the most
spiritual being on the prairie," he said. Pickering estimated the
incidence of white buffalo births at about 16 per million.

He said there are three reasons white calves sometimes

appear ... they may be:

o albinos
o the result of crossbreeding with white cows
 o temporarily white and turn dark by their first winter

"The calf is not an albino," said Julie Allen, noting that its
eyes are brown, not pink. Flicking her ears and whisking her
tail back and forth, the 40-to-50-pound calf resembles a lamb.
"In the past, Indians sacrificed white buffalo as sacred
offerings, but now they avoid doing that," Pickering said.

Rare white bison born in B.C. - CBC News - May 25, 2005

Fort St. John - A buffalo rancher near Fort St. John in

northeastern B.C. is bracing for scores of visitors following
the recent birth of a rare white calf. This is the first white
calf that was born in Canada. Aboriginal legend holds that the
white bison is a harbinger of peace and unity. And in that
spirit, ranche owner, Blatz says she has named the male calf
Spirit of Peace. To them a white buffalo is a symbol of hope,
rebirth or unity and also peace. And because he was born
north of Peace River.

The owners of a small bison herd near Flagstaff were

surprised Saturday morning to find one of their rare white
buffaloes had given birth to something even rarer: a white
calf. "This is so rare specifically because she was born white,"
Davis said. "The others were born red (like normal buffaloes)
and turned white. The birth of a white bison is meaningful for
many Native American tribes, especially Plains Indians such as
the Lakota, who consider it a symbol of rebirth when the
world's people are in troubled times. The white buffalo is such
a phenomenon because they are so rare. None of her buffaloes
is albino but rather a mutation of the usual fur color of dark
brown to black. Of 11 bison on the ranch, four are white, not
including the newborn. The animals on the ranch are also pure
bison, proven by DNA testing at a California lab, she added,
and not a mix of bison and cattle, known as beefalo. The ranch
was moved onto its 5-acre site near the San Francisco Peaks in
December 2001 and has had visitors from around the globe to
see white bison."

Spirit Mountain Ranch in Flagstaff, Arizona has successfully bred

two generations of white buffalo starting from a single white
female, all with brown fathers.

White Buffalos in History

In 1833, a white bison was killed by the Cheyenne. The skin of this
bison is hanging on the wall of Bent's Old Fort in Colorado. The
Cheyenne killed this white bison during the Leonid Meteor Shower
(The Night the Stars Fell) and scribed a peace and trade treaty on
its skin. This event was documented by historian Josiah Gregg and
other travelers on the Santa Fe Trail.

A bison named Big Medicine (1933-1959) was born in the wild on the
National Bison Range on Montana's Flathead Indian Reservation, and
is now displayed at the Montana Historical Society.

A female named Miracle (not Miracle Moon), was born at the family
farm of Dave, Valerie, and Corey Heider near Janesville, Wisconsin
on August 20, 1994. Her fur fully transitioned to brown as she
matured, and she gave birth to four calves of her own before dying
of natural causes on September 19, 2004. Sioux tribal members had
continually visited their farm since the birth of Miracle.
Additionally, a calf born at the Heider farm died aged 4 days in
1997. A third white calf was born in September 2006.

And when she promised to return again, she made some prophesies
at that time. One of those prophesies was that the birth of a white
buffalo calf would be a sign that it would be near the time when she
would return again to purify the world.

This means the SHE will bring back harmony again and balance,
spiritually. White Buffalo links with the return of White Buffalo
Calf women or the return of the feminine energies, rebirth and
creation, Hathor (cow goddess), solar discs, and horns and cones.
A white buffalo called Ma-hi-ya-sqa was born in 1996 on a farm in
North Dakota, not far from to where I traveled to attend the first
Star Knowledge Conference and Sun Dance festivals in South
Dakota in June 1996. White symbolizes moving into higher
frequency of light and consciousness.

To the Native Americans the birth of a white buffalo is a symbol of
rebirth and world harmony

One summer, long ago, the seven sacred council fires of the Lakota
Oyate, the nation, came together and camped. Every day they sent
scouts to look for game, but the scouts found nothing, and the
people were starving.

Among the bands assembled were the Itazipcho, the Without-Bows,

who had their own camp circle under their chief, Standing Hollow
Horn. Early one morning the chief sent two of his young men to hunt
for game. They searched everywhere but could find nothing. Seeing
a high hill, they decided to climb it in order to look over the whole
country. Halfway up, they saw something coming toward them from
far off, but the figure was floating instead of walking. From this
they knew that the person was wakan, holy.

At first they could make out only a small moving speck and had to
squint to see that it was a human form. But as it came nearer, they
realized that it was a beautiful young woman, more beautiful than
any they had ever seen. She wore a wonderful white buckskin outfit,
tanned until it shone a long way in the sun. It was embroidered with
sacred and marvelous designs of porcupine quill, in radiant colors no
ordinary woman could have made. This wakan stranger was Ptesan-
Wi, White Buffalo Calf Woman. In her hands she carried a large
bundle and a fan of sage leaves. She wore her hair loose except for
a strand at the left side, which was tied up with buffalo fur. Her
eyes shone dark and sparkling, with great power in them.
The two young men looked at her open-mouthed. One was overawed,
but the other desired her and stretched his hand out to touch her.
This woman was Lila wakan, very sacred, and could not be treated
with disrespect. Lightning instantly struck the brash young man and
burned him up, so that only a small heap of blackened bones was
left.

To the other scout who had behaved rightly, the White Buffalo Calf
Woman said: "Good things I am bringing, something holy to your
nation. A message I carry for your people from the buffalo nation.
Go back to the camp and tell the people to prepare for my arrival.
Tell your chief to put up a medicine lodge with twenty-four poles.
Let it be made holy for my coming."

This young hunter returned to the camp. He told the chief, and the
people, what the sacred woman had commanded. So the people put
up the big medicine tipi and waited. After four days they saw the
White Buffalo Calf Woman approaching, carrying her bundle before
her. Her wonderful white buckskin dress shone from afar. The
chief, Standing Hollow Horn, invited her to enter the medicine
lodge. She went in and circled the interior sunrise. The chief
addressed her respectfully, saying: "Sister, we are glad you have
come to instruct us."

She told him what she wanted done. In the center of the tipi they
were to put up an owanka wakan, a sacred altar, made of red earth,
with a buffalo skull and a three-stick rack for a holy thing she was
bringing. They did what she directed, and she traced a design with
her finger on the smoothed earth of the altar. She showed them
how to do all this, then circled the lodge again sunwise. Halting
before the chief, she now opened the bundle. The holy thing it
contained was the chanunpa, the sacred pipe. She held it out to the
people and let them look at it. She was grasping the stem with her
right hand and the bowl with her left, and thus the pipe has been
held ever since.

Again the chief spoke, saying: "Sister, we are glad. We have had no
meat for some time. All we can give you is water." They dipped
some wacanga, sweet grass, into a skin bag of water and gave it to
her, and to this day the people dip sweet grass or an eagle wing in
water and sprinkle it on a person to be purified.

The White Buffalo Calf Woman showed the people how to use the
pipe. She filled it with chan-shasha, red willow-bark tobacco. She
walked around the lodge four times after the manner of Anpetu-Wi,
the great sun. This represented the circle without end, the sacred
hoop, the road of life. The woman placed a dry buffalo chip on the
fire and lit the pipe with it. This was peta-owihankeshni, the fire
without end, the flame to be passed on from generation to
generation.

She told them that the smoke rising from the bowl was Tunkashila's
breath, the living breath of the great Grandfather Mystery.

The White Buffalo Calf Woman showed the people the right way to
pray, the right words and the right gestures. She taught them how
to sing the pipe-filling song and how to lift the pipe up to the sky,
toward Grandfather, and down toward Grandmother Earth, to Unci,
and then to the four directions of the universe.

"With this holy pipe," she said, "you will walk like a living prayer.
With your feet resting upon the earth and the pipe stem reaching
into the sky, your body forms a living bridge between the Sacred
Beneath and the Sacred Above. Wakan Tanka smiles upon us,
because now we are as one: earth, sky, all living things, the two-
legged, the four-legged, the winged ones, the trees, the grasses.

Together with the people, they are all related, one family. The pipe
holds them all together.

"Look at this bowl," said the White Buffalo Calf Woman. "Its stone
represents the buffalo, but also the flesh and blood of the red man.
The buffalo represents the universe and the four directions,
because he stands on four legs, for the four ages of creation. The
buffalo was put in the west by Wakan Tanka at the making of the
world, to hold back the waters.

Every year he loses one hair, and in every one of the four ages he
loses a leg. The sacred hoop will end when all the hair and legs of
the great buffalo are gone, and the water comes back to cover
Mother Earth.

The wooden stem of this chanunpa stands for all that grows on the
Earth. Twelve feathers hanging from where the stem - the
backbone - joins the bowl - the skull - are from Wanblee Galeshka,
the spotted eagle, the very sacred bird who is the Great Spirit's
messenger and the wisest of all flying ones.

You are joined to all things of the universe, for they all cry out to
Tunkashila. Look at the bowl: engraved in it are seven circles of
various sizes. They stand for the seven sacred ceremonies you will
practice with this pipe, and for the Oceti Shakowin, the seven
sacred campfires of our Lakota nation."

The White Buffalo Calf Woman then spoke to the women, telling
them that it was the work of their hands and the fruit of their
bodies which kept the people alive. "You are from Mother Earth,"
she told them. "What you are doing is as great as what the warriors
do."

And therefore the sacred pipe is also something that binds men and
women together in a circle of love. It is the one holy object in the
making of which both men and women have a hand.

The men carve the bowl and make the stem; the women decorate it
with bands of colored porcupine quills. When a man takes a wife,
they both hold the pipe at the same time and red trade cloth is
wound around their hands, thus tying them together for life.

The White Buffalo Calf Woman also talked to the children, because
they have an understanding beyond their years. She told them that
what their fathers and mothers did was for them, that their
parents could remember being little once, and that they, the
children, would grow up to have little ones of their own.

She told them: "You are the coming generation, that's why you are
the most important and precious ones. Some day you will hold this
pipe and smoke it. Some day you will pray with it."

She spoke once more to all the people: "The pipe is alive; it is a red
being showing you a red life and a red road. And this is the first
ceremony for which you will use the pipe. You will use it to keep the
soul of a dead person, because through it you can talk to Wakan
Tanka, the Great Mysterious. The day a human dies is always a
sacred day. The day when the soul is released to the Great Spirit is
another."
She spoke one last time to Standing Hollow Horn, the chief, saying,
"Remember: this pipe is very sacred. Respect it and it will take you
to the end of the road. The four ages of creation are in me. I will
come to see you in every generation cycle. I shall come back to you."

The sacred woman then took leave of the people, saying: "Toksha
ake wacinyanktin ktelo -- I shall see you again."

The people saw her walking off in the same direction from which
she had come, outlined against the red ball of the setting sun. As
she went, she stopped and rolled over four times. The first time,
she turned into a black buffalo; the second into a brown one; the
third into a red one; and finally, the fourth time she rolled over, she
turned into a white buffalo calf. A white buffalo is the most sacred
living thing you could ever encounter.

The White Buffalo Calf Woman disappeared over the horizon. As

soon as she had vanished, buffalo in great herds appeared, allowing
themselves to be killed so that the people might survive. And from
that day on, our relations, the buffalo, furnished the people with
everything they need -- meat for their food, skins for their clothes
and tipi1s, and bones for their many tools.

Red Heifer in Judiasm

In Judaism, the red heifer (Hebrew parah adumah) is a heifer that

is sacrificed and whose ashes are used for the ritual purification of
people who came into contact with a corpse. A heifer is a young cow
before she has had her first calf.
In the Bible: According to Numbers 19:2: Speak unto the Children
of Israel that they bring thee a red heifer without spot, wherein is
no blemish, and upon which never came yoke. The animals will not
have hairs of any other color, it must be in perfect health, and it
must never have been used to perform work. The cow is then
brought to an altar built to the east of the Temple Mount, where it
is slaughtered and burned. Cedar wood, hyssop, and scarlet are
added to the fire, and the remaining ash is placed in a vessel
containing pure water. In order to purify a person who has become
ritually contaminated by contact with a corpse, water from the
vessel is sprinkled on him, using a bunch of hyssop, on the third and
seventh day after the contamination took place (Numbers 19:19).
The priests who have performed the ritual then become impure

Red Heifer Born in Israel

March 2002 - a red heifer was born in Israel. The heifer's
owner contacted the Temple Institute on Friday, April 5th,
2002. Rabbi Menachem Makover and Rabbi Chaim Richman
traveled to the farm where the heifer lives to inspect and
validate her status. The rabbis found her to be kosher and
were satisfied that this heifer could indeed be a candidate to
be used in the process of purification described in the book of
Numbers, chapter 19. This is a prerequisite for the rebuilding
of the Holy Temple. Tradition records that a red heifer in our
generation is a herald of the Messianic era. It is certainly an
important development towards the rebuilding of the Holy
Temple. Our sages taught that Israel's redemption can be
compared to the dawn. "In the beginning, it progresses very
slowly...but as it continues, it grows brighter and brighter."

The white killer whale spotted in Alaska's Aleutian Islands

sent researchers and the ship's crew scrambling for their
cameras. The nearly mythic creature was real after all. The
whale was spotted last month while scientists aboard the
Oscar Dyson, a National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Administration research ship, were conducting an acoustic
survey of pollock near Steller sea lion haulout sites. It had
been spotted once in the Aleutians years ago but had eluded
researchers since, even though they had seen many of the
more classic black and white whales over the years.

Fearnbach said the white whale stood out. "When you first
looked at it, it was very white," she said. Further observation
showed that while the whale's saddle area was white, other
parts of its body had a subtle yellowish or brownish color. It
likely is not a true albino given the coloration, said John
Durban, a research biologist at NOAA's Alaska Fisheries
Science Center in Seattle. That's probably a good thing - true
albinos usually don't live long and can have health problems.
Durban said white killer whales have been spotted elsewhere
in the area twice before: in 1993 in the northern Bering Sea
 around St. Lawrence Island and in 2001 near Adak in the
central Aleutians. There have also been sightings along the
Russian coast. While Alaska researchers have documented
thousands of black and white killer whales in the Bering Sea
and the Aleutians during summer surveys, this was something
new and exciting, Durban said. "This is the first time we came
across a white killer whale," he said. The scientists observed
several pods over a two-week period. The white whale was in a
family group of 12 on a day when the seas were fairly rough. It
was spotted about 2 miles off Kanaga Volcano on Feb. 23.

snapped photos of the albino Capra ibex, also known as
steinbock, climbing with its mother at an altitude of about
3,000 meters (10,000 feet). This is the only one ever
 documented, the only one ever seen, said Christian Chioso, a
regional wildlife official. He said albinism is rare in any species
and has not been previously documented among the Capra ibex,
a type of wild mountain goat with large curved horns that lives
in craggy mountainous areas. Chioso estimated that the animal
is about a year old.

Story 2 - Milan, Italy (AP) - Forest rangers in the northern

Italian Alps have confirmed for the first time the existence
of an albino mountain goat and named him "Snowflake."
Rangers took photos of the albino capra ibex climbing with its
mother Sunday at about 10,000 feet above the Les Laures
valley in the northwestern Val d'Aosta region, said Christian
Chioso, a regional wildlife official. "This is the only one ever
documented, the only one ever seen," Chioso said by telephone
on Monday. He said albinism is rare in any species and has not
been previously documented among the capra ibex, a type of
wild mountain goat with large curved horns that lives in
mountainous areas. Chioso estimated the albino animal is about
a year old. Hikers had been reporting seeing a white animal at
higher elevations for months, and forest rangers have been
keeping a lookout, Chioso said. The goat was seen near the
boundaries of the Big Paradise National Park, which was
established to protect the species. Chiaso said about 4,000
wild mountain goats populate the park.

Norway: White moose sparks debate Aftenposten - October 6,

The striking sight of a white moose in the forests of Ostfold
prompted a call for protection as the hunting season nears,
but experts insisted the animal be shot. The moose hunting
season starts on Thursday, and hunting parties in the Ostfold
area where the rare albino moose has been sighted have asked
that the animal be protected. Jon Arnemo, professor at the
Norwegian School of Veterinary Science (NVH), said that the
albino moose was a rarity, though not a sensation.

It is estimated that there are about 450,000 moose in

Scandinavia, of which about a third are shot every year. There
are usually reports of one white moose every year. These
animals are rarely very old. Their lack of pigmentation makes
them more exposed to predators like wolves and they often
have inferior sight or hearing. It was not yet certain that the
sighted moose was a genuine albino, with a total lack of
pigment and red eye, or a 'common' moose without
pigmentation.
