Basic Approach
There are three sections in "MAIN" tab: Inputs, Intermediate variables, Final/Calculated Variables
Inputs are the equivalent circuit variables. We start with a guess and we will fine-tune them. These are
Intermediate Variables are calculated using equivalent circuit and complex arithmetic. Broken into seve
All variables in intermediate section are "complex" variables even though the full value is no
Final variables ("performance measures") are calculated from input/intermediate variables
Each final calculated performance meausre has a "target" to match the originally-specified m
The difference between target and calculated represents an error
There is a user-selectable weighting for each final variable error
Use "solver" to adjust the input variables in order to minimize the weighted sum of squares of errors
Example Solver Screen is shown in another tab
Miscellaneous Notes
This spreadsheet requires the "analysis tookpack" add-in for excel to do the complex calcualtions
This spreadsheet requires the "solver toolkpack" if you want to re-optimize based on changed weights etc
All parameters referred to the stator
Nameplate RPM is within 5 rpm of actual (per NEMA MG-1). Therefore full-load slip is treated as an input variables
Restrictions are placed on the solver menu such that full-load slip variation corresponds to rpm variation
The equivalent circuit computes only I^2*R losses. An additional element R_m in series with magnetizing branch w
Note the model in which these parameters will be used does not have no-load losses beyond I^2*R - do
* Should convert series Lm/Rm branch into equivalent parallel Lm/Rm before plugging Lm into model
These circuit parameters are a, b, c parameters and care is needed when translating to d-q parameters
For Krause's d-q model, XM corresponds to 1.5 times the XM parameter of the abc circuit. All other par
Weight Factors
Locked rotor weighting factors were set low for reasons discussed below (results)
Power factor and efficiency weighting factors were set high since "fractional change" underestimates the
Results
As expected, we are not able to exactly recreate all the parameters. 1-overspecified; 2 - Performance of induction
In particular the equivalent circuit ASSUMES the parameters are constant for all conditions (full load, locked rotor e
However effective locked rotor resistance is significantly lower than full load rotor resistance due to deep bar effect
Since the intent is to use the model for simulations under load (~half load), the locked rotor parameters are given lo
Likewise no-load and breakdown torques are given low eights
ne-tune them. These are inputs to the remainder of the calculations

responds to rpm variation within 2.5rpm of nameplate speed slip

losses beyond I^2*R - don't think this will have big effect on dynamics - include them here for better estimation of other parameters

hange" underestimates the error - 98% vs 99% eff appears only as 1% fractional deviation but is 200% error in losses

Performance of induction motor is more complicated than modeled by equivalent circuit
