Maintenance Category
According to the daily maintenance, the maintenance can be clas-
sified into four categories that are routine maintenance, notice
processing, alarm processing, and common problem processing.
Routine Routine maintenance is the periodical maintenance. It is to check
Maintenance the equipment running state periodically. The problem detected
during the check should be handled in time. Thus, the hidden
problem can be discovered and prevented, and the problem can
be discovered and handled promptly.
Notice Processing Notice processing is to analyze various notices during the system
running, judge whether anomaly exists, and handle accordingly.
Alarm Processing Alarm processing is to analyze various alarms during the system
running, judge whether the system runs normally, and handle ac-
cordingly.
Common Problem Common problem processing is to analyze and handle the detected
Processing problem.

Common Maintenance
Methods
This topic describes the most common maintenance methods.
During the actual equipment maintenance, you need to combine
various methods.
Fault Symptom Generally, the wireless network equipment consists of several
Analysis equipment entities. The symptom varies with the fault that occurs
on different entity. When you discover a fault or receive a fault
report, you can analyze the fault symptom, judge the fault on
which equipment entity causes this symptom. Thus, you can
focus on checking the faulty equipment entity.

Confidential and Proprietary Information of ZTE CORPORATION 1

ZXSDR B8200 L200 Maintenance Guide

In the case of a sudden fault, it is especially important to analyze

the fault symptom. Only after analyzing the fault symptom care-
fully, you can locate the faulty equipment entity precisely. Thus,
you can avoid performing incorrect operation on the equipment
that runs normally, and shorten the time to rectify the fault.
Alarm and Log The eNodeB system can record errors that occur during the
Analysis equipment running and important running parameters. The errors
and important running parameters are mainly recorded in the log
record file (including the operation log and system log) and the
alarm database of NetNumen server.
The functions of alarm management are: checking the running
states of the eNodeB system, NetNumen server node and data-
base, and external power, collecting the fault and anomaly infor-
mation generated during the running, and presenting the infor-
mation in the form of text, figure, voice, and light. Thus, you can
learn the information in time and handle accordingly to ensure the
normal and reliable running of the eNodeB system.
In addition, the alarm information is recorded in the database for
later reference and analysis. You can check the operation log and
system log through the log management system. The log can be
filtered according to your filtering criteria and displayed in the time
sequence order or in the inverted time sequence order. Thus, you
can conveniently check useful log information.
The alarm and log analysis helps to analyze the cause of the fault
and detect the hidden problem of the system.
Signaling Tracing The signaling tracing tool provided by the system helps to analyze
Analysis and locate the fault effectively. According to the signaling trac-
ing, you can learn whether the signaling flow is correct, whether
all messages in the signaling flow are correct, and whether all pa-
rameters in the message are correct. Through the analysis, you
can find the cause of the fault.
Instrument Instrument and meter test is one of the most common methods
and Meter Test used to locate faults. Through the instrument and meter test, you
Analysis can test the system running indexes and environment indexes,
compare the test results with the indexes in the normal state, and
analyze the cause of the difference.
Comparison and Replace the part that may be faulty with a normal part. If the fault
Replacement is rectified after the replacement, the fault is located.
This method is simple and practical. In addition, you can com-
pare whether the states, parameter and log files, and parameter
settings of the same parts are the same. You can implement the
modification test to rectify the fault during the safe time.

Warning:
Perform this method during the safe time (00:00–04:00 in non-
holidays is recommended). Avoid the operation during the peak
service hours and holidays.

Chapter 1 Overview

Precautions
During the daily maintenance, pay attention to the following pre-
cautions:
1. Ensure that the equipment room is of normal temperature,
clean, dirt-proof and moisture-proof. Prevent the rodent from
entering the equipment room.
2. Ensure that the primary power supply of the system is sta-
ble and reliable. Check the grounding and lightning protection
grounding of the system regularly. Especially before thunder-
storm season and after thunderstorm, check the lightning pro-
tection system and ensure that the facilities are normal.
3. Set up a sophisticated maintenance system to normalize the
daily work of the service personnel. Produce a detailed duty
log. Record the daily running status, version, data update, up-
grade, and problem handling of the system in details to help the
problem analysis and handling. Produce a hand-over record to
clarify the responsibility.
4. Prohibit playing games and surfing the Internet on the PC ter-
minal. Prohibit installing, running and copying any software
that is not related with the system on the PC terminal. Prohibit
misusing the PC terminal.
5. Set the NetNumen password according to the user levels, man-
age it strictly, change it regularly, and keep it open only to the
service personnel.
6. The service personnel should receive the induction training to
learn certain equipment and network knowledge. Perform the
maintenance operation according to the description in the re-
lated equipment manual. Wear the antistatic wrist strap be-
fore touching the equipment to prevent the accident due to
the man-made factor.
7. Do not blindly reset the equipment, load data or change data.
Especially do not change the EMS database data at random.
Back up the data before changing the data. After changing the
data, confirm that the equipment runs normally in a certain
period of time (generally a week) before deleting the backup
data. Record the change in time when changing the data.
8. Prepare the following common instruments and meters: flat-
head screwdriver, cross screwdriver, signaling analyzer, net-
work cable pliers, multimeter, AC power for maintenance, tele-
phone line, and network cable. Test the meters regularly to
ensure the accuracy.
9. Check the spare parts and accessories regularly to ensure that
they are in stock and complete. Prevent them from being af-
fected with damp and going mouldy. Store the spare parts and
accessories and the replaced parts and accessories separately,
and label them. Replenish the common spare parts and acces-
sories in time when they are used up.
10. Store the software and documentation that may be used during
the maintenance in the specified place. Thus, you can easily
obtain them when necessary.

requirement. Repair the broken light in time to prevent the
lighting dead angle.
12. Handle the detected problem in time. In the case of the prob-
lem that cannot be handled, contact the local ZTE branch office.
13. Place the contact with the local ZTE branch office in an obvi-
ous place and inform all the service personnel to ensure timely
contact when necessary. Update the contact list regularly.

Danger:
Checking and adjusting the power should be performed by profes-
sionals. Otherwise, casualty and equipment failure may occur.

Warning:
Before changing and synchronizing data, obtain consent of the
person in charge. Otherwise, changing data at random may cause
catastrophic failure.
