XIN RONG JI (NANYANG ROAD) AWARDED TWO STARS IN

THE MICHELIN GUIDE SHANGHAI 2019

HIGHLIGHTING THE CITY AS ONE OF THE TOP ASIAN GOURMET DESTINATIONS

Michelin is pleased to unveil the selection of the MICHELIN guide Shanghai 2019. With 60 starred
and Bib Gourmand restaurants, and including the restaurants which have a Michelin Plate award,
the 2019 edition includes a total of 133 establishments, confirming the great gastronomic wealth of Shanghai.

The 2019 selection includes a new 2-star restaurant, bringing to eight the number of
double-starred establishments in Shanghai. This latest addition – Xin Rong Ji (Nanyang
Road) – enriches the gastronomic offer in the guide since the chef serves Taizhou
specialties. The restaurant, located in a historical building of the city and decorated with
original sketches of a famous architect, is distinguished by the extreme freshness of the
ingredients used in the dishes. Its bespoke menu with the best seasonal picks would
certainly impress you which testifies to the great mastery of the chef.

Always towards the top of the world gastronomic scene, ULTRAVIOLET, orchestrated by
the brilliant chef Paul Pairet, confirms its excellence by maintaining its 3 stars. Here, the
chef exceeds the limits of the diner’s palate, as it offers its customers a complete sensory
experience. The 22 dishes that make up the menu are linked and integrated into a ballet of sound and light that
never fails to leave the 10 daily diners in a state of intense excitement. An absolutely unique experience!

In addition, of the 25 1-star restaurants in the 2019 selection, the Michelin inspectors were pleased to have
discovered five new addresses this year. Among these, Chinese gastronomy is strongly represented since of
these five establishments, three specialize in cooking which reflects the diversity of Chinese culinary traditions. At
Ji Pin Court, Chef Cheung produces high level Cantonese cuisine, with particular attention paid to the quality of
the ingredients. At Moose, the chef, who has more than 30 years’ experience, is a specialist in Huaiyang cuisine.
Finally, Chao Zhou food lovers can enjoy the finesse of Chao Zhou Cuisine at Amazing Chinese Cuisine.
European gastronomy is not left out since the other two newly-starred restaurants offer Italian and French cuisine.
Making its first appearance in the selection of the MICHELIN guide Shanghai, Il Ristorante - Niko Romito, run
by the chef of the same name, offers authentic Italian flavors that ensure an authentic culinary journey. Finally, at
Le Comptoir de Pierre Gagnaire, guests are invited to savor some of the most iconic French specialties, such
as the Foie gras terrine brioche or the Frogs “Poulette” cocotte.

The MICHELIN guide Shanghai includes 26 establishments with a Bib Gourmand. This selection, which includes
a few establishments that offer foreign cuisine, gives pride of place to local Shanghai cuisine and other Chinese
provincial specialties. Among these restaurants, readers are able to choose to enjoy Hangzhou, Dian Xin, Huai
Yang or Sichuan specialties.
Bruno de Feraudy, Director of Michelin Group in China comments: "This 2019 selection is impressive in that it
accurately reflects the identity and history of Shanghai. Indeed, the Oriental Pearl, as the city is sometimes called,
has both a thousand-year-old cultural heritage, and is also one of the largest modern megacities. Shanghai
therefore has the features of a cosmopolitan city yet still fascinates visitors from all over the world, and the city's
gastronomy is the perfect reflection of this. Alongside many restaurants offering French, Indian or Spanish
cuisine, four Italian restaurants have been added to the 2019 selection. This gastronomic variety perfectly
complements the international and dynamic nature of the city. In addition, as China's economic beacon, Shanghai
also attracts chefs from all provinces of the country who are dedicated to representing the different Chinese
culinary traditions. "

The MICHELIN guide Shanghai 2019 selection includes:

- 1 restaurant with three MICHELIN Stars

- 8 restaurants with two MICHELIN Stars, including 1 new one

- 25 restaurants with one MICHELIN Star, including 5 new ones
- 26 restaurants with a Bib Gourmand
