Section - A (25 Marks)
1. What is electrochemical series and give two applications. (2)
2. What is Galvanic corrosion and how it can be prevented? (3)
3. Explain why Zinc displays copper from CuSO4 solution, but silver does not. (2)

5. What are the types of fuel cells? What are the benefits? (2)
6. What is potable water? What are it’s requirements? (3)

13. a) Define alkalinity of Water? How do you determine the alkalinity of Water (6)
b) 20 ml of standard hard water required 25ml of EDTA solution for end point. 100ml of hard
water sample required 18 ml EDTA solution. While same water after boiling required 12 ml
of EDTA solution. Calculate temporary and permanent hardness of water. (4)
14. a) Define Fuel Cell? Describe the working and construction of H2 -O2 fuel cell (5)
b) What are chemical fuels? How are they classified? Give examples for each class? (5)
15. a) Discuss acid – base titration using PH – metry and its applications. (5)

b) What is Quinhydrone electrode? Derive an expression for the potential of a quinhydrone
