FT-212RH TECHNICAL SUPPLEMENT YAESU MUSEN CO., LTD. 20, BOX 150, TOKYO, JAPAN YAESU U.S.A. 1720 Edvard Ri, Conn, Cnt 970, USA YAESU EUROPE B.V. Seiweg 3. 1UIEAA Sep, The Nehads This manusl is intended tm serve os supploment to the FT-212RH Operating Manual. De- tailed Information regarding functions, specifications, options and operation hat been provided In the Operating Manual, and is not reprinted herein. Therefore, this supplement 1b not Imended eo serve as an independent reference, but to be used in conjunction wilh the infor mation provided In the Operating Manual Because of the compactness end complexity of the double-sided glssr-epoxy clrcut boards wed in the FT-212RH, four layout dlagrams are provided for cach board. Each side of the board is identified by’ the pe of the majority of components installed on thet side, In ‘most 2506 one side has only chip components, and the otter hes either © mixture of both chip and lead components (rimmers, coils, electrolytic capacitors, packaged ICs, etc), or lead components only. The two obverse” views depict the board ar ie i= asen when viewed directly with the eye, while the two "averse" views depict the uniaen side of the board os 1k would appear If one were to peer through che board from the other side without seeing the componenes and wacks on the near side While we believe te technical ‘nformation in thie manal is correct, Yeesu sesumee no lability for damage ehat may occur as a result of typographical of other errors tat may be present. Your cooperation in poling out any Inconsistencies in the technical. formation would be appreciated. ‘Yaesu Musen reserves the right to make changes in the cicultry of this transceier, in the Inerest of technological improvement, without notification of the owner CONTENTS: MTR | | MAIN UNIT PARTS LAYOUT a | MAIN- UNIT CIRCUFT DIAGRAM srr en IFUNT PARTS LAYOUT/CIRCUT DIAGRAM senses 8 | MIC UNIT PARTS LAYOUT/CIRCUIT DIAGRAM fen APC UNIT PARTS LAVOUT/CIRCUIT DIAGRAM swswsssnsens | | Taa-veounrr PARTS LAVOUT/GIRCUTT DIAGRAM allt) | CONTROL UNIT PARTS LAYOUT tes sseee 1S 1 | ContRot UNIT cincurT OIAGRAM ran | PAUNIT PARTS LAvOUT =~ : eit ||| | PA UNIT CIRCUIT DIAGRAM “ sense ig | | SEMICONDUCTOR CROSS-REFERENCE ‘sre alli | BLOCK DIAGRAM ssssessessss0 - tevecerannnanes u [EXPLODED VIEW mn iis | | atonMenr - : 2 | AuteNMERT LL) enn | ALIGNMENT (Tranomitar = x | ALIGNMENT (Receiver) - 7 PARTS LIST -ssimsnmnnnns SEEN ea It list life cAI BOTTOM COVER REMOVAL ‘The following circuit boards are accessed by removing the bottom cover Main Unit (component sided IF Unie Mie Unit APC Unit VCO Unie PA Unit Vower edge only) To remove the bottom cover, remove the four screws marked" * "in Figure 1, plus ‘me four marked" = 1f the wp cover has fot already been removed. If 4 sudden problem occurs during. normal operation, it is likely due to component failure; realignment should not be. done Unt after the faulty component hae been replaced. Because of the compact circuitry of this trantcelver, we recommend hat servicing be performed only by autiorized Yaesu service technicians who are experienced with the eireuitry and fully equipped for repair and ligament. Therefore, If a fault ie suspected, coneact the dealer from whom the wanscei- ver was purchased for instructions regerding repair. Authorized Yaosu oorvice technicians realign all circuits and make complete pe formance checks 10 ensure compliance with factory specifications after replacing any faulty component. ‘Those who do undertake any of the follow ‘ng. signments are cautioned to proceed at their own risk, Yaesu must reserve the Fight to change circuits and alignment Procedures in the interest of improved Derformance, without ntiyIng owners No alignment shoulé be attempted unless the normal function end operation of the transceiver are clearly understood, the couse of the malfunction hat been clearly Pinpointed ond ony faulty components re laced, and the eed for realigament deter- mined to be absolutely necessary ‘The following test equipment (ond thorough familiarity with it correct use) is necessary for complete realignment.
