WELCOME TO ELSINORE MIDDLE SCHOOL! GO TIGERS!

I am very excited to have you in my class this year!
Course summary
Students will expand reading, writing and
speaking skills, following the Common Core
State Standards (CCSS). The CCSS are divided
into the following categories with a focus on
college and career readiness:
reading-literature, informational texts, and
fundamental skills; Writing; Speaking and
listening; and Language. It seems boring, but I
am determined to make it as fun and
engaging as possible! :)

Hatchet ​by Gary Paulsen.

Homework/Assignments Attendance/Absent Work

★ It is the student's responsibility to
complete the assignment, turn it in on
time, with their name and date on it.
★ If the student has difficulties, they can
advocate for themself before the due
date of the homework.
Late work
★ For each day an assignment is late,
10% is taken off.
★ Late work will not be accepted 2
weeks (10 school days) or more past
the due date.
★ If the student has an excused
absence, I will accept it the day they
return.
★ Students are expected to be in class
on time, every day. However, life
happens and sometimes you have to
miss a day. #keepsickkidshome
★ If your student misses a day and is
excused, it is their responsibility to
ask Ms. Perez what was missed within
2 days of their return.
★ Students will have one week to turn in
their absent work, otherwise it will be
considered late.
Extra Credit
★ Available for all

★ A failing grade can not be improved
Grading:
Class grades will be calculated based on this scale:

is of great value and resource to me. The more I know and understand
your child, the more effective I can be as their teacher. I would appreciate
your participation in some “Parent/Guardian Homework.” If you could
please write me a letter introducing your child.

You might want to include a brief biography, problems, special abilities,

fear, strengths, weaknesses, and past school experiences. You might also
want to tell me about your expectations for this school year: from me, your
child, and the school. Include any information that you want me to keep in
mind while I work with your child.

I am looking forward to reading your letters and will respond to any issues
