LEARNING STANDARDS:
This course is designed to align with the Virginia Standards of Learning for seventh grade English.
The class meets every day for 60 minutes of instructional time. Key concepts to be covered will
include:
 Use word analysis strategies and word references (SOL 7.4 a-e)
 Demonstrate comprehension of fictional texts (SOL 7.5 a-k)
 Demonstrate comprehension of nonfiction texts (SOL  7.6 a-k)
 Write in a variety of forms, narrative, descriptive, persuasive, and exposition (SOL 7.7 a-k)
 Edit writing for correct grammar, capitalization, punctuation, and spelling etc. (SOL 7.8 a-h)
 Linear Relationships (SOL 8.14 – 8.17)
