Installing and Uninstalling 3ds Max CAT

The processes for installing and uninstalling 3ds Max CAT are described in the Autodesk 3ds Max CAT
Installation Guide. You can download the installation guide (Autodesk_3ds_Max_CAT_Installation_Guide.pdf)

and licensing of 3ds Max CAT:

administrator, with full privileges, must install and start the software one time in order to generate the
Windows® operating system registry information needed to complete the installation.

• On Windows Vista® operating system: User Access Control (UAC) must be temporarily disabled before
attempting to install 3ds Max CAT.

Documentation with 3ds Max CAT

Online help and how-to movies are included with this release of 3ds Max CAT. The online help replaces the wiki
help that was supplied in earlier releases of 3ds Max CAT. You can access the help from the 3ds Max CAT menu
in Autodesk 3ds Max/3ds Max Design. You can access the how-to movies for 3ds Max CAT from the main page
of the help. Also, find the help and movies online: www.autodesk.com/3dsmax-cat-help and
www.autodesk.com/3dsmax-cat-how-to-movies.

Release Version with Beta

If you previously installed any beta version (including Release Candidate (RC) versions) of 3ds Max CAT, you
must uninstall and delete all system folders pertaining to these prerelease versions before you can install the
commercial version. Instructions on how to uninstall the software are posted on the beta portal in the Beta and
RC Readme files.

Customer Error Reports (CERs)

We are able to improve the stability of 3ds Max CAT largely because of the CERs that end-users submit. We
thank you for taking the time to fill out these reports and ask you to include as much information as possible about
what actions you were performing at the time the error occurred. These details raise the value of the report
immensely and are very much appreciated by the 3ds Max CAT Quality Engineering team. For further
information about Customer Error Reports (CERs), refer to www.autodesk.com/cer/.
