Gastrointestinal Update:

As we informed you in the letter we sent out yesterday, there is a high amount of gastrointestinal illness
in several schools in Saratoga Springs & Eagle Mountain. We are continuing to receive reports of
people with symptoms, therefore we are strongly encouraging people to please keep your students home
until 72 hours after vomiting and diarrhea have ended. Even if they just have an upset stomach, please
keep them home while they are feeling ill, as it is possible that they may vomit while at school.

We also ask that if your child attending this school has siblings in other schools (public junior high
school or public high school, charter high school, private daycare, etc.), that you take care to keep those
siblings home from school if they are experiencing similar symptoms.

We want to remind everybody of how highly contagious Norovirus is and how it can infect a large group
of people in a short amount of time. The virus can be passed by touching the same surfaces that the ill
person has come in contact with, and even by breathing in the fumes from vomit (one of the symptoms).

Anyone with symptoms can pass the virus from their hands to food. Any person with symptoms should
not prepare food for anyone in the household. If you are obligated to prepare food, we recommend that
you wear gloves.

By notifying you of this possible exposure, we are trying to control the spread and prevent new cases of
this illness. If you have any questions about signs or symptoms of this illness, please feel free to contact
us.

Sincerely,

Lisa Guerra, R.N.

Ultimas Noticias:

Sinceramente,

Lisa Guerra, R.N.
