1. Situation

Two weeks ago Tanoan military enacted a successful coup and now control the
country by martial law. Following deteriorating diplomatic relations between the
government of France and the military junta the current ambassador to Tanoa Alain
de Montfort was forcefully detained and the embassy itself ransacked. According to
HUMINT the ambassador has been put under house arrest in a building owned by the
embassy in the city of Lijnhaven. This not only constitutes a grave violation of
international law but also represents a threat to France’s national interest since the
now captive ambassador is being used as leverage in the political negotiations. As a
response military action has been authorized.

Despite the deployment of FORFUSCO war between France and Tanoa is not
desirable. This operation will send a clear signal about France’s commitment to
uphold international law and to defend her interests even against physical violence
while not escalating the situation to outright war.

2. Enemy forces

The Tanoa military has been mobilized ever since the coup so military readiness is
expected to be high. Police forces are also enforcing public order with all available
manpower.

Nearest known army garrison is located in the Saint-George airfield just North of the
city (attachment 6). HUMINT also confirms that army units are patrolling the
population centers so we can expect military opposition both in the target area itself
and as a reaction to our presence. ELINT has also identified military units occupying
the fort of Waterkasteel juts outside the city harbor following the coup (attachment 5).
The military also maintains checkpoints on all the major roads connecting habitation
centers.

Primary opposition expected will be the local police force that is enforcing its
presence on the streets day and night. The ambassador and any other prisoners should
also be under close guard in the target building itself. Tanoan police is generally only
lightly armed with handguns and rifles.
3. Civilians

The coup is mostly supported by the local population so don’t expect any co-
operation from any civilians you may encounter. Tanoan citizens are not expected to
be armed. The weather is forecasted to be good during the following days and
especially nights. Light cloud cover and temperatures around 24°C means that the
city’s nightlife should be active even during very late hours.

4. Friendly forces

Platoon B will conduct the mission. Support will be provided by SNA Tourville in the
form of tactical cruise missile strikes. Missile strikes are authorized only against
confirmed military target that are jeopardizing the current mission. Further
information will be provided by the captain of Tourville (see section 8). No other
friendly forces are in the area.

5. Mission

Your objective is to locate and extract Alain de Montfort.

Attachement 1: Alain de Montfort

6. Execution

Due to high military alertness only seaborne approach to the target is possible.
Tourville will insert your team close to the coast outside the island of Lijn
(attachment 4). Use your SDV’s to proceed undetected along the Bay of Flying
Dutchman. Once you are close to the city make landfall in the location of your
choosing. According to intel the ambassador is being held in the embassy employees
apartment building (attachment 4).

Once you are detected use maximum speed and violence to secure your target and
minimize the window for opposition to use their superior numbers. Once the
ambassador is secure provide him with diving equipment to allow him to extract with
you. Make sure you have room for him in your SDV’s.

After the target is secured exfiltrate out of the operations area at best possible speed
back to the Tourville. The captain of Tourville is authorized to call in missile strikes
on any target that may hamper your escape.

7. Command

Captain of Tourville will be in overall operational command. The strike team will be
lead by the officer in command of platoon B.

Addenum by Captain Jean-Louis

8. Missile launch protocol

While you are underwater you will be out of radio contact with the sub. This is a
problem since you need to use the SDV’s to paint the target with a guidance laser. As
such I will transfer launch authorization to your team. Targeting operator in any of the
SDV’s will be able to send the launch signal using the inbuilt communications
system. DO NOT TARGET MISSILES INSIDE THE CITY for obvious diplomatic
reasons.

Make sure you keep painting the target with your laser while the missile is underway.
Painting a moving target is possible (missile flight time approx. 10s) although not
recommended. ONLY ONE MISSILE MAY BE LAUNCHED AT ANY TIME so
make sure only one targeting laser is active when a missile strike is called. It will also
take some time to prepare the next missile after each launch. Also bear in mind that
due to orders from ESNA I can only allocate limited missiles numbers for your use on
this mission.
Due to limitations of current laser designator technology targeting objects on water
(boats) will be rather difficult. For reasons not fully understood the lasers seems to
ignore the hull of the boats while they are on water. To counter objects on water it is
recommended that you either target any patch of land close by (if the target is near
the coast) or the water surface just in front of the target for maximum kill probability.

Attachement 2: Targeting waterborne objects

9. Game mechanics

Medical system in use will be ACE advanced with the addition of splints. The only
way to revive an unconscious player is to do CPR. All players are able to functions as
medics. THE ARE NO RESPAWNS on this scenario. It is recommended not to get
hit. Both because of immersion and gameplay reasons once the mission starts there
will be no way for connecting players to get into the mission so make sure you are
not late. Estimated playtime of the mission is under one hour.

There is no modloader or modpack for this mission, just set up mods from the server
and join. Follow normal task force radio procedures with the addition of underwater
radios that will be familiarized to all players at the start of the mission. Arsenal crates
will be locked at the beginning of the mission until the briefing and team
management is done.

All players will have several new actions available to them via mouse wheel
interactions list. All players all able to drop both green and IR chemlights on their
position. This functions is meant to allow players to use chemlights to mark their
position or route while underwater. It is possible to drop chemlights while inside one
of the SDV’s. Chemlights can be created this way endlessly regardless of player
inventory. If you want to attach a chemlight to your person use normal ACE self-
interaction (you will need chemlights in your inventory for this). Also anyone in the
“gunner” seat of any of the SDV’s will be able to call in a missile strike. Only use this
options if it’s ordered by the commanding player. See section 8 for further
information.
